I am contesting for post of President Elect of IAP 2015. A postgraduate from Seth GSMC & KEMH Mumbai, I am Life member of IAP since 1988.

2001-2002, as Secretary IAP Mumbai, I sent monthly bulletin to 800 members, organized CMEs & IAP special days / weeks & annual conference & launched a magazine, IMPRESSIONS. IAP Mumbai works with IAP Navi Mumbai.

In 2003-2004, as Secretary of IAP Respiratory chapter, I helped create ATM, organized 1 Respicon, & edited 6 issues of Pulmonology Update. As OB of Neonatology chapter, 2003-2011, I edited chapter bulletin, NEOSPEAK, increased membership strength 3 folds & organized first National conference, IAP NEOCON. The chapter launched Fellowship in Neonatology, a program that is conducted in 47 institutes. I am Advisor to chapter.

In 2003-2004, as EB member of CIAP, I was in various committees & convener of Breastfeeding committee. I was in organizing committee of PEDICIN as Jt. Secretary & Co organizing Secretary respectively in 2003 & 2007. In 2010, as President of IAP Mumbai branch, I organized non-sponsored annual conference, SPLENDID & APPA Vaccinology Update.

In 2010, as Treasurer of CIAPO I started system of online payment & net banking, obtained FCRA certificate, consolidated corpus & introduced system of part payment of Pedicon registration fee in IAP corpus.

In 2012-2013, as Secretary General of IAP, I did 7 EB meetings, 8 OB meetings, & 1 SAPA meeting besides meetings with Government, NGOs & pharma. I facilitated launch of IAP action plan programs & facilitated publication of 2nd edition of IAP specialty books. I brought transparency in working of CIAPO by uploading information on IAP website & coordinated Pedicon 2012, 2013 & 2014. IAP’s new website & IAP’s 50 years stamp were launched. I was a prompt communicator & in my 4 years tenure, no controversy stuck to me.

I have been faculty at various IAP platforms, speaking on diverse subjects & have contributed chapters to books on Infant feeding, IAPTBP, TBPID & 3 books from Neonatology chapter.

My contributions to IAP will be significant as President, & I shall elevate the prestige of our organization. I am hard working & have the invaluable experience of administering IAP for 4 years. Dr RK Maheshwari (61) MD (Paed) FIAP is a graduate and post-graduate from SN Medical College Jodhpur. • DR AJIT SINGH After completing my MBBS (1994), MD Paediatrics (1997) and senior residency (1998) from MLN Medical college Allahabad, I joined UP Government PMS and was posted in very remote areas where I realised the pitiable situation of child health care in periphery. I introduced neonatal resuscitation to my teams and arranged training in NRP for colleagues in the district. I resigned from Government job in 2004 and started private practice in Ballia. Having only five paediatricians in the whole district, I succeeded in convincing all of them to become CIAP members and thus IAP Ballia Branch came in to existence. I continued strengthening the academics of branch members through various CMEs, workshops, conferences and training camps and contributing in strengthening IAP in this remotest part through various IAP programs.
