The King EntersForza Horizon 2 release date: SEPT 30. 2014

Over the last year, the Forza team spent their time col-lating data from not how players have been playing, but where they’ve been going. They've advanced the Drivatar technology to observe the shortcuts that player's friends would use that would be totally different from another group.

Forza has also once again teamed up with Playground Games.Their early involvement with Forza Horizon in 2012 lead to innovative and pioneering ideas for the racing genre, compiled from a team that leant a hand in the creation of classics like Burnout and Driver. They've been successful in igniting the car passion within gamers and gaming passion in car lovers, and with Hori-zon 2 they hope to do it again. Their focus on how light bounces and moves around objects is just as breathtaking

as the picturesque locations.Playground will be heading the Xbox One version that will run at a locked 30 frames-per-second and 1080p. Forza 5 did run at 60fps, however Horizon 2 is an open-world title and according to the devel-opers, setting the game to a solid 30fps would allow them to focus on improving the world without worrying about the technical challenges.

Sumo Digital is looking after the Xbox 360 version and Turn 10 will again provide support to the primary developers.I had a go at the Xbox One version, and it's as emotional as it is fun. Even if you don't have the slightest interest in racing games, you won't be able to stop yourself from being mesmerized by the all the pretty things on screen. Some great new features in Horizon 2 include day-and-night driving, a fully dynamic weather system and the 'Bucket List'.Similar to the 1000 Club in Forza Horizon, the Bucket List is a group of challenges for the player to complete. There are two separate lists; one for France and one for Italy. The developers were also very proud to say these lists will be continuously added to, and new challenges will pop up over time.Car Meets are also a new addition that will allow players to meet up online, similar to 'Forzavista' in Forza Motorsport 5.You'll be able to have a chat, interact with each other and share tuning setups and liveries. The game world of Horizon 2 is almost three times the size of the first, and the realism is re-markable. One of the last things the developers said to me just as I was turning off into a corn-field to take a shortcut was "if you can do it in Horizon 2, you can do it in real-life".

Forza Horizon 2 may contain all sorts of lovely dynamic weather effects and run at 1080p, but that’s small change compared to the fact you can race against a Steam Train in the game.

The ability to race a locomotive comes into play during ‘showcase races’ which is the racer’s ver-sion of challenge races.

In short, for this particular instance, players will need to get to the finish before the Steam Train.

CARSFORZA Forza Horizon 2 will feature more than 200

of the world’s greatest cars

2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4

Of all the supercars to be found in the world, Lamborghini delivers a bodacious form like no other. Then, they back up that look with mind-blowing performance. The Huracán evokes emo-tion at a glance, inspires curiosity upon inspection, and will have you sweating once the rum-bling, burbling V10 fires up. Once behind the wheel, the experience is awe-inspiring. Aboard this all-wheel-drive naturally-aspirated 600 plus horsepower supercar are moments that are normally reserved for the most elite in the world Within the world of Forza Horizon 2, you can experience the joy of roaring down a curving, undulating mountain road or you can weave through traffic on the open highway at speeds that even those who can afford the real thing would never attempt. Bring the Huracán to a racing event and unleash its power and technology. In the battle for road-going supremacy, this is the ultimate weapon.

2012 Nissan

GT-R Black Edition

The GT-R is absolutely a supercar, only this incredible ride comes from Japan. Picking up where the legendary Skylines of the past left off, the Nissan GT-R delivers straight-line performance that can’t be beat by cars five times its price. When it comes to cornering, it is dexterous and light-footed. A near unfair advantage is found in the traction from its high tech all-wheel drive system that delivers astounding grip and predictability. The GT-R’s looks make it a standout in any performance showdown and any supercar lover will find plenty to respect. Should the power and capabilities of the GT-R come into question, just bring any challenger on. The proof of the GT-R’s domi-nance will soon be found in the dust that the doubters will consume while chasing it.

2012 Pagani Huayra

Page 9: Bio video game

2012 Pagani Huayra

When you think of Pagani cars, it’s natural to think of crafts-manship, performance, and a Platonic ideal of automotive beauty. All of those elements come together in the Pagani Huayra, the latest supercar from Horacio Pagani, and perhaps his most compelling automotive vision yet. It’s easy to get lost in the visual elements—the gullwing doors or those audacious rear view mirrors. The same goes for the interior—a lush mixture of aluminum, leather, and fine Swiss craftsmanship (for the dashboard instruments). The Huayra has been a long time in the making—Pagani began work on the car in 2003. But, like all works of art—automotive or otherwise—true beauty takes time.

The Crew is an upcoming racing video game set in an open world environment. It is being developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

While The Crew is mainly about driving fast and winning, there is a deeper, narrative story built into the game. Although the game takes place in a stylized version of the United States, the storyline takes you and your crew down to the 510s, a Detroit-based crew that revels in illegal street racing. Although born in the Motor City, they have spread to different areas of the U.S., including Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Aspen, Monument Valley, and other locations that are idealized within the game.Since The Crew takes places in an “open world version” of the states, the map is a quasi-realistic version of the country. According to the developers, it will take about two hours to race across their version of America – though everyone knows it takes a lot longer than that in real life. Of course, that two hour estimation assumes you aren’t distracted by the numerous side missions and multiplayer events throughout the game. It’s up to you to assemble your own crew, choose the preferred style of racing, and customize your car for the best experience.

STORY

Page 17: Bio video game

The Crew is an open and persistent world for racing across the United States. It takes 90 minutes to drive from coast to coast in-game.The single-player campaign is 20 hours long, and entails infiltrating criminal groups.Missions can be played alone, with friends, or with online co-op matchmaking. The multiplayer mode lets players create teams to compete online in races and other gametypes. There are no in-game loading screens or pauses. Players can also build cars with a tie-in app for iOS and Android.

The Crew creative director Julian Gerighty has called the game a role-playing game with large-scale multiplayer elements. The multiplayer is not separate from the single-player.Players can form "crews" to race together or against ghost records.

Battlefield Harline Multiplayer To Become "Deeper And More Interactive" Thanks to Beta Feedback gamespot.com

Visceral Games outlines ten updates to the final game it plans to make based on feedback from the initial beta.

Battlefield Hardline developer Visceral Games has posted a list of ten things it plans to change for the final game based on feedback from last month's beta, one of which is making the entire multiplayer experience "deeper and more interactive."

"We want to reinforce how important your feedback has been," lead multiplayer designer Thad Sasser said in a post today on the Battlefield Blog. "We have a lot of other awesome changes underway and will be sharing more soon!"

You can see all 10 of the major changes below, courtesy of Sasser. This list is part of Visceral's ongoing "Community's Most Wanted" feature, which outlines changes to the game. Sasser stressed that Visceral does in fact read the comments as a means to "create an awesome multiplayer experience" for Battlefield Hardline.

He also teased that Visceral will reveal a "ton" of new multiplayer details for Battlefield Hardline in the coming days. This will include new information about the game's maps, modes, guns, and gadgets, as well as the single-player campaign.

The Battlefield Hardline beta was offered last month only on PlayStation 4 and PC. Later this fall, a second beta will be available for all of the platforms the game is coming to: Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PS4, and PC.

1. REDUCING FREQUENCY OF EXPLOSIVES

"We have heard your complaints about breaking the cops and robbers experience with the amount of heavy explosive weaponry available--but we didn't want to sacrifice fun! We've made changes to reduce the frequency of explosive use to focus on the core gameplay, and we've made the use of explosives much more believable now."

2. REBALANCING AND RENAMING THE MECHANIC CLASS

"We've made the class better in more situations--without sacrificing his ability to take down a vehicle. We're also looking at renaming it--post your favorite suggestions in the comments!"

3. REVISITING THE IN-GAME HUD

"We're working on establishing a clearer visual difference from BF4 and improving the messag-ing of the in-game HUD, from objectives to player status information."

4. REVISITING THE CUSTOMIZE SCREEN

"We've taken a new pass at how the customize screen is laid out, and are making it clearer and easier to manage your gear and weapon attachments. This should address the majority of issues reported."

5. MAKING THE WORLD DEEPER AND MORE INTERACTIVE

"We've been working on adding more touches to the game world, giving players more options and things to do that impact play. Look for interactive objects like doors, radios, ammo lock-ers, and more!"

25

Page 27: Bio video game

26

Page 28: Bio video game

6. MAKING ROUNDS LAST LONGER

"A significant amount of feedback during the Beta was received regarding the quick progres-sion of rounds. We've made tweaks to both Heist and Blood Money that should help make the experiences last longer without sacrificing any of the fun."

7. INCREASING TRANSPORT VEHICLE HEALTH

"There were a lot of comments about cars dying too easily from gunfire. We agree that one magazine from the AKM should probably not turn your sedan into a 4-person death trap quite so easily. We've also increased the survivability of the utility van."

8. IMPROVING AUDIO SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

"In some of our game modes, situational awareness is very important. We're working on improv-ing the audio cues in the environment to help you detect and locate your enemies before they do the same to you."

9. MEDKITS AND AMMO BOXES SHOULD NO LONGER BLOCK L.O.S. CHECKS FOR REVIVE

"Previously, you could fail to revive someone if a medkit or ammo bag was blocking the line of sight check for the revive mechanic. We are fixing this so that these no longer block you from reviving."

10. IMPROVING INTERROGATION

“We’ve worked out some changes to the T62 CEW and the Interrogation mechanic. We’re working on making Interrogation only show enemies in a radius around the captured enemy, but show the marked enemies as if they had been Active Spotted by a teammate--making it both more useful and less powerful at the same time.”

Be careful, The Shooter is here SNIPER ELITE III: AFRIKA REVIEW REVIEW by uk.ign.com

Sniper Elite III is a celebration of extravagant carnage - and, less sig-nificantly, a big improvement over 2012's Sniper Elite V2. Its predeces-sor's stiff, linear gameplay has been swapped out for a more open-end-ed, creativity-enabling approach to stealth-shooting. But the big draw – the real draw – is the same por-nographically violent X-ray-vision carnage that erupts whenever your bullets meet their targets. These slow-motion, long-range kills are what keep Sniper Elite III from be-ing just another generic-looking World War II shooter. Every effort was made to milk them for dramatic tension. When aiming, you can hold your breath, slowing time so you can watch that red dot shrink in on your target. Tight close-ups of the bullet in flight are accompanied by a steadily swelling roar, giving your shot a sense of impending destiny. Provided your reaction to the result-ing gore is a sick thrill and not actu-al sickness, this is so

33

Page 35: Bio video game

immensely satisfying that it renders every other weapon at your disposal anticlimactic by comparison. The kill-cam moments never got old enough for me to opt to skip them, but they might have if the rest of Sniper Elite III weren't so competently designed. Centering on Karl, a gravel-voiced American sniper, who seems to almost singlehandedly dismantle the German Afrika Korps, you are taken to a lot of interesting settings in a theater of the war that's rarely explored in games, and given semi-free rein to explore and murder Nazi occupiers in whatever way you deem fit. That’s what gives Sniper Elite III its edge - and not its story, which is awash in clichés and occasionally laughable dialogue. The campaign consists of just eight stages, but they’re a blast to creep through. Each one is enormous and has multiple objectives meant to give you a clear progression through the map, but how you reach and tackle those objectives is up to you. And when you factor in handfuls of enjoyable optional tasks, like blowing up a German motor pool or steal-ing top-secret plans, and the many deaths you're likely to die, finishing a single level can take as long as a couple of hours. With a guard AI that’ll usually spot you if you run or even poke your head up above cover, Sniper Elite III encourages you to take it slow and stealthy, spotting and tagging guards with your binoculars. And should you decide to take a shot with anything but your silenced pistol – like, say, your sniper rifle – it's a good idea to either be near some noisy machinery that'll cover up the sound, or immediately move somewhere else after you take your shot. This push to relocate gives Sniper Elite III a fun, furtive cat-and-mouse feel, although like most stealth games, it doesn't always make sense; all you need to do is sneak or run a prescribed distance away from the guards until they forget you ever existed.

But remember, there's no penalty for breaking stealth – and because you mainly earn

34

Page 36: Bio video game

35

Page 37: Bio video game

experience through kills, there's no real reason not to clutter the horizon with bodies if you can get away with it. Dropping guards in quick succes-sion always left me feeling like an efficient badass, even when it was due more to their uneven combat AI than my own skill. Sniper Elite III's multiplayer maps are huge and filled with hiding places, and they're built to emphasize distance and sneakiness. In fact, two of the standout modes are Distance King and No Cross, which respectively reward teams based on the range of their kills, and separate them with impassable barriers meant to force them to snipe. These modes are enjoyable, but they're not fundamentally different from what you'd find in any other online shooter. Co-op, on the other hand, is much more rewarding. Not only can you tackle the entire campaign with a buddy, but you can also pair up in the waves-of-Nazis Survival mode and the engrossing Overwatch, which hands binoculars to one player and a rifle to the other, forcing you to work together as a sniper-spotter team.

36

Sniper Elite III's open level designs and objectives pack in more than enough variety and stealthy tension to coun-terbalance its thin story and shaky enemy intelligence, and experimenting with its explosive traps is almost as fun as popping skulls with a sniper rifle. The skeleton-shattering, long-distance kills are still its riveting centerpiece, of course, but even without the element of dumb fun they offer, Snip-er Elite III would still be a smart, unexpectedly memorable experience.

THE VERDICT

Page 40: Bio video game

:everything we know so far By John Bedford

A little more information about the game's hero Ajay Ghale - not to mention the villainous Pagan Min - has been revealed since Ubisoft's fanfaring of Far Cry 4 at E3 last month. We've updated our guide with all the new details, as well as a new video that explains more about the characters driving the next game in the series. If the last Far Cry took its dystopian tropical cues from The Beach, it's a case of Seven Years - and almost certainly a shedload of radio towers - in Tibet for the fourth game in the series. Rather than making another sun-soaked paradise its home, Far Cry 4 has upped sticks and relocated to a fictional region in the Himalayas called Kyrat. Here, the game's hero Ajay Ghale finds himself caught up in a brutal civil war crafted by the self-appointed king of the region, Pagan Min, otherwise known as the bad guy.Given the setting, it's easy enough to conjure up an endless panorama of white peaks and shin-slicing precipices in your mind's eye, but there will be more than an endless succession of Mount Everests to the game. Early screenshots throw up some rather clichéd albeit breath-taking vistas, but we're also promised a generous dash of variety in the environments. All in all, you should hope to see as many crystal-clear lakes garnished with evergreen forestry as you do cold and chilling peaks. Vehicles Making your way around this new world should be more of an adventure than ever, thanks in part to an all-new grappling hook, which allows you to inch your way along rock formations. While Far Cry 3 convenient hang-gliders provided a swooping bird's-eye view of Ubisoft's open-world handiwork, this time around you'll be putting around the skies in gyrocopters and swooping into action using white-knuckle wingsuits.

39

Page 41: Bio video game

More literal putting about will take place at ground level, and Far Cry 4's faded yellow tuk-tuks will no doubt put a smile on the face of any nostalgiac backpacker. Even better, you can now not only fire your weapon while driving at high speed, but you can also leap directly from vehicle to vehicle during road chases. Or you can just finish the race before it's even started by cutting the enemy's brakes - whatever takes your fancy. As well as the more conventional means of gadding around, you'll also be able to tackle the challenges of those ever-present outposts from the comfort of the local wildlife - elephants, to be precise. If you're looking to make an entrance, you'll be able to charge into battle on the back of one of these beasts, while the more cowardly might prefer to simply strap a few clumps of C4 on the trunk and send ‘em charging in to achieve a brief and presumably spectacular kind of glory.

40

Page 42: Bio video game

CharactersAjay Ghale might be the local boy on a homecoming mission, but it's the blond-haired, magenta-clad Pagan Min who stole all the attention when the game was officially revealed at E3. Since then, Ubisoft has released a new video that goes into a little more depth about the pair of them. Apparently, Min wears that particular suit as an homage to his mother. "When you're making fun of the suit, you're making fun of his mom," says executive producer Dan Hay. "And I would not make fun of Pagan Min's mom." Min took over Kyrat two de-cades ago, and even the local currency now bears his face.

Ajay's family name is famous in the region as well, but he's returning to a land he hasn't seen since he was a small child. "Everywhere you go, people are like 'okay, I know who you are,' and you don't even know who you are," explains Hay. "The game is a reflection of that."

41

Page 43: Bio video game

Frame-rate and resolution

With fewer palm trees and more crisp mountain air filling the space between places of interest, you might be wondering how much of a technical toll Ubisoft's latest open world is going to take on your hardware. Digital Foundry managed to get a look at the game at E3 this year, and reports back that a slightly tweaked version of the build shown off in LA runs at 1080p resolution, with a frame-rate that - much like the game's predecessor - sticks to 30fps from the most part, while occasionally dipping into 20fps territory. There's time for tweaks on this front, of course, be-tween now and the game's release.

Far Cry 4's co-op systemThere's an intriguing taste of co-op to be had from Far Cry 4, even if your partner doesn't actually own the game. If you've got a PlayStation Plus friend sit-ting on the - presumably electrified and heavily guarded - fence, they can download an app whichcontains the entire game world, minus the single-player mission content.Once installed, they will be able to jump into tough-er-than-usual co-op missions with you as Far Cry 3's Hurk, and while Ubisoft hasn't yet pinned down how ex-actly the difficulty will be scaled for two protagonists, higher enemy hits points, tougher attacks and smarter AI seem like sensible bets. Each

42

Page 44: Bio video game

player who owns the full game will be able to send out up to 10 invitations, but it doesn't look as though the same functionality will be offered to Xbox Live subscribers, sadly.

The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 4 Image Released attackofthefanboy.com

Telltale Games has tweeted that the new trailer for The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 4 will be released tomorrow. The episode, titled Amid the Ruins should then release about a week later if normal Telltale patterns are followed. This will be the penultimate episode of the season, leaving only The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 5 which is titled No Going Back. So far each episode has been spaced out by two months, so No Going Back should arrive in September to close out the season. After that Telltale will begin releasing their new game Tales from the Borderlands and possibly their Game of Thrones title as well. The Walking Dead games are based on the comic series of the same name. Although a few characters had cameos and crossed paths during the first season, the game is more of a side story, containing wholly new characters. The game offers players multiple choices that end up shaping events throughout the story. Entire characters can live or die based on the player’s choice, and those choices continue affecting things in future episodes.

The story of the first season focused on Lee Everett as he formed a group of survivors fighting against the zombie hoard. The second season passed the player role to Clementine, who had been a part of Lee’s group and learned how to survive from him

45

Page 47: Bio video game

A third season for the extremely popular point-and-click adventure series is very likely, although no mention has been made at this point. We’ve been able to see Clementine grow quite a bit in the series, so having another time skip could make for a fascinating third season.

The Walking Dead Season 2 premiered in December of 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, iOS, PC, and Mac. A Playstation Vita version began releasing episodes later. Individual episodes can be purchased separately or as part of the Season Pass, which give you all five episodes at once. If you prefer to wait for the final game to be complete you will probably be able to get a physical release much like the one recently announced for The Wolf Among Us.
