Today, some people say, "There is no sdhu."But how can you see a sdhu? Have you the vi-sion to see? A sdhuis not an ordinary person.He is not a living being of this material world.He has come down from Krishnas abode, fromthe spiritual kingdom. Just as you cannot seeKrishna with material vision, you cannot seesdhuwith material vision. You want to be aseer, but you are not a seer. Krishna is the seer.Sdhuis the seer. You are to be seen. Caitanya-caritmta(madhya19.151) explains:

brahma bhramite kona bhgyavn jva guru-ka-prasde pya bhakti-lat-bja

After undergoing so many species of life in somany lakhs of brahmas, if someone is fortunateenough, bhgyavn,he comes in contact with asdhu. When the sdhucasts his merciful glanceon someone, then that persons good fortunearises. What does sdhudo? Sdhucomes hereto give you Krishna. My guru-mahrjais sucha sdhu. How did he give Krishna? One devoteewas just reading a letter from Prabhupada, "Justfollow my instructions as they are. Chant sixteenrounds nicely, offenselessly, follow the four regu-lative principles, accept ka-prasda. I am alwayswith you." He is still here. A vaiavanever dies.There is no birth or death for him. He is alwayshere as Krishna is always here. If you have vision,you can see him. Otherwise, how can you seehim? It is a question of vision, and that vision isobtained by the mercy of sdhu. You cannot getthat vision in any other way. So many people say,"Oh, he is gone. He is no more." That is foolish.He is here in his books, instructions, and lectures.He is still here. You should develop the propervision to see him, to get his mercy.

He opened Vaikunthas. He said, "These ISKCONtemples are Vaikuntha. Come and take shelter here.This is Kali-yuga, but if you strictly follow thesefour regulative principles no meat eating, nogambling, no intoxication, no illicit sex accepta bonafide guru who can give you Krishna, thenyou will be free from the influence of Kali and youwill be in Satya-yuga. You will be in Vaikuntha."He made all sorts of arrangements for everyone to be engaged. For sannyssand brahmacrs thosewho have given up family life and household affairs,

tyakta gha they may take shelter in the templeand be engaged twenty-four hours a day in theloving service of Krishna under the guidance ofguru. He also made arrangements for those whoare ghasthas. "You ghasthasshould help this temple.You should come take part every day, if you can findthe time. If not daily, once a week, as the Sundayfestival is there. If not weekly, once a fortnight oronce a month you should come, associate with thedevotees, chant, dance, take ka-prasda, hear hari-kath, ka-kath that will make your life success-ful." For those who cannot follow the regulativeprinciples, he also made arrangements. "They arewealthy persons, earning money, but they cannotfollow. They have no time. Many people say, Wecannot do this. All right, how can they get themercy?" He made the Life Membership program."They will give some percent of their hard-earnedmoney. Thereby, they will get mercy, sukti. Thatwill help them develop Krishna consciousness."He even trained his disciples as preachers andsent them throughout the world, "Go out andpreach Krishna consciousness." He has made allof these arrangements.

This is a day we should glorify and rememberhim. We should beg for mercy at his lotus feet. Cryfor his mercy. vaiava kp pya sarva siddhi If youcan get the mercy of such a vaiava sdhuyou willachieve the perfection of your life. The sdhusmercyis so powerful. Only sdhusmercy is required, noth-ing else. What can you do? karma nhi, jna nhi,ka bhakti na I have nothing, no karma, no jna,no bhakti. tomra karu sra I am completely de-pendent on your mercy. (ikaka1):para vijayate r-ka-sakrtanam "All glories to congregational Sri Krishna krta-na."In Bhakti-sandarbha(173), Srila Jiva Goswamihas described that in Kali Yuga any of the ninetypes of devotional service can be executed, butto be effective they must be done in conjunctionwith krtana yad anypi bhakti kalau kartavy,tad tat sayogenaiva. Krtanais the best and onlymeans of success in Kali Yuga.
