Page 8: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

Q: Why is CONNECT110NS a BIM exemplar?

Page 9: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

The government will require fully collaborative 3d BIM (with all project and asset information documentation and data being electronic as a minimum by 2016) .

Page 10: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

Q: What lessons/experience have we brought to the project from previous BAM BIM schemes?

“We’re about 25% more efficient than we were in 2009.” Terry Stocks Ministry of Justice, UK The business value of BIM for Owners 2014, McGraw Hill

Page 57: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

Errors and Omissions: The early detection and correction of significant design errors has avoided costly and time-consuming change orders in the field. As-built documentation: As-built data of existing buildings now done in 3-5 days with up to 6 mm accuracy using laser scanning technology Tenant Phasing: Reduced construction duration by of 19%. Space measurement: Less than a 5% variance in measured square footage; Energy Performance: Better accuracy, transparency and reliability in performance estimations and major savings

The US General Services Administration (GSA) has carried out BIM on over 200 Federal Government projects across the United States.

Page 58: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

• Building R2 was done in BIM and R1 was not • Overall a 37% reduction in RFIs

• A 32% reduction in coordination change orders

• R2 project was two months ahead of schedule and six months ahead of R1.

The Canadian investors Oxford Properties were relatively new to the London commercial office market. The BIM model enabled their senior stakeholders to understand and de-risk the project and was a contributing factor in their decision to fund the project.

Page 60: BIM Show Live 2015: 110 Queen Street – A BIM exemplar

The model enabled the client and contractor to accurately assess design risk and reduce its allowance in the contract to 1.5% of total contract value. The coordinated design delivered through BIM is estimated to have reduced the number of contractual RFIs by 50%.

BIM enabled plant space to be reduced by up to 20%, while accommodating increased servicing requirements.
