BILL DILLON in 087 9375823 bill.dillon Cork, Ireland [email protected] I am a 24 year old Product Design & Technology graduate of the University of Limerick. My skills as a designer have been shaped not only by my four years at University, but by my work experience in industry. My focus as a designer has shifted towards creating experiences that resonate with people and become valuable to them, rather than simply creating products. About Me Education 2004 - 2010 St Michaels College Listowel, Co. Kerry Leaving Certificate - 425 points 2011 - 2015 University of Limerick B. Sc Product Design & Technology QCA Score - 3.18 Second Class Honours, Grade One Experience Logitech International SA I joined the Design & Innovation Team at the Logitech office in Cork from January to September 2014. I was involved in a project dealing with tablet peripherals. I was immersed in the full scope of the design process from initial concept to tooling for manufacture. The most valuable skills I took from my placement were working with a professional team of designers and engineers. After completing my degree I returned to Logitech in July 2015 for three months. As part of a three person team we examined the trends of Logitechs target market, with the aim of constructing a clear image of who that market was, where they were going in the future and what experiences they strive for. We held brainstorming sessions on how Logitech could offer them these experiences. This project was a unique insight into how the contemporary design industry of 2015 works. The project was also of huge benefit to my ability to work in extremely close cooperation with a small team. Additional Skills Information

3D Printing & modeling software. I earned an A1 grade in Solidworks which was taught as part of my degree. While working at Logitech I learned to use Creo Parametric, which is a more complex tool used to model more dynamic forms and assemblies.

Presentation & Communication. Presenting work and ideas was part of my daily routine both in University and to a lesser extent at work. This has allowed me to hone my ability to present my work effectively to a large group.

Given the structure of my degree and work environment, teamwork has htob sa ylevitceffe noitcnuf nac I .em rof gnikrow fo yaw larutan a emoceb

a leader and active team member. While working in Logitech I took part in a workshop on improving teamwork skills, for example how to avoid being too passive or aggressive in meetings and how to deal with team members who you feel may not be contributing fully. However when necessary I am fully capable of being self directed and working alone.

Awards & Achievements

While in the University of Limerick I entered a sustainable design competition as part of a three person team. We assessed how different buildings on campus used energy and proposed how they could become more energy efficient and recieved first prize for our presentation.

In the third year of my degree Logitech International ran a design competition in conjunction with Product Design UL . Each of my forty class mates submitted a design based on a brief supplied by Logitech. I received second prize in this project.

Interests Drawing & Painting - I discovered a natural gift for drawing and painting as a child. Its a talent I value deeply and a pastime that fills a great deal of my free time.

Aviation - I have always had a fascination with aviation and flying. Although I do not intend to have a career flying professionally I still peruse it as a hobby.

Science & Technology - I enjoy keeping up to date with the world of science and technology reading various journals and watching online channels.

Graphic Design . In University I was very enthusiastic about graphics and presentation. I received praise from my tutors and was commended on my natural ability for graphics. My work in Logitech exposed me to some professional graphic designers and gave me an opportunity to showcasemy ability to represent my work visually.
