New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest fireworks evenings of the year at Walt Disney World Resort, a place where fireworks are both spectacular and an every-night occurrence. Kissimmee, FL - La Cuidad de Kissimmee instalará cámaras en las luces rojas después del primer día del año para mejorar la seguridad del público y disminuir las personas que se pasan la luz roja. Las primeras cámaras se instalarán en Main Street y Neptune Road, y serán activadas en enero. La cámara solamente grabará cuando un carro se pase la luz roja. Se enviarán advertencias los primeros 30 días de operación en cada intersección. Finalmente, se instalarán cámaras en

10 intersecciones que se consideran tienen un volumen alto de tráfico o donde se han visto conductores pasar la luz roja muchas veces. Las localizaciones se determinaron debido a una inspección de tráfico por video conducida por el Departamento de Policía de Kissimmee (KPD) y debido a muchos accidentes por conductores pasando la luz roja. En unos videos se han visto más de 70 personas pasando la luz roja en un periodo de 12 horas. Las cámaras en las luces rojas

también se instalarán en las siguientes intersecciones: Main Street y

Columbia Avenue; Vine Street y Bass Road; Vine Street y Dyer Boulevard; Vine Street y Thacker Avenue; Vine Street y John Young Parkway y Emmett Street, y Michigan Avenue y Osceola Parkway.Esto es un objetivo de la Ciudad para

Kissimmee, FL — The City of Kissimmee will install Red Light Cameras after the first of the year in an effort to address the public safety issue of red light runners. The first set of cameras will be mounted at Main Street and Neptune Road, with the cameras going live in January. The cameras will only record when a vehicle runs a red light as opposed to recording traffic activity at all times. Warnings will be issued during the first 30 days of operation at each intersection.Ultimately, cameras will be mounted

at a total of 10 intersections considered to either have a high traffic volume or where there has been repeat activity for red light violators. The locations were determined based on the outcome of a video survey and a review of traffic crashes and red light citations issued by the Kissimmee Police Department (KPD) in the past two years. In some video surveys, more than 70 violations were recorded within a 12-hour period. Red light cameras will also be

installed at the following intersections: Main Street and Columbia Avenue; Vine Street and Bass Road; Vine Street and Dyer Boulevard; Vine

Street and Thacker Avenue; Vine Street and John Young Parkway; Vine Street and Michigan Avenue; John Young Parkway and Carroll Street; John Young Parkway and Emmett Street; and Michigan Avenue and Osceola ParkwayThis is a public safety issue and the

City’s objective is to save lives, not generate revenue. The City will pay Red Flex a monthly fee of $3,850 to cover the cost of equipment, installation, maintenance and repairs, plus ticket distribution. All tickets will be reviewed and approved by a KPD officer. Funds will be generated if the violations exceed $3,850 each month.If drivers fail to stop before the traffic

signal turns red, the cameras will capture their vehicle running through the intersection. This will result in a penalty in the amount of $158, if paid within 30 days of the violation. Afterwards, a uniform traffic citation will be issued and the amount will increase, along with four points being accessed on the driver’s license, if convicted.Tickets will also be issued if a

Osceola School District’s Prekindergarten Department and the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County will present a free family concert entitled “Turn Up The Learning” with Jack Hartmann, a nationally-recognized children’s singer, songwriter, author, keynote presenter, and workshop leader, on January 27, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Gateway High School, located at 93 Panther Paws Trail in Kissimmee. children are invited to join Jack as he presents music and movement activities that promote phonological awareness, reading, math, science, social skills, and physical fitness. During this lively, interactive concert, his songs will engage children in active learning while singing, moving, and building brain connections. St. Cloud, FL – St. Cloud Police Department’s communications operators Jason Clark, Celia Martinez, and Lilyvette Serrano are the 2011 City of St. Cloud Employees of the Year. The team was recognized December 9 during the City of St. Cloud Employees Holiday Luncheon. “These operators were recognized for their

outstanding efforts during a critical situation we had due to software issues,” said Communications Supervisor Nadine Zilke. “The high-priority emergency calls for service were at a high and their roles as dispatchers are of extreme importance; their duties do not end when a call is dispatched. Once field units are en route and after arriving on scene, communications operators provide informational support and they make decisions

that are often a matter of life and death. These three operators continued to fulfill the vital role of providing assistance to officers, fire personnel, and the citizens of St. Cloud for 15 hours straight despite the software issues.” Also in the running for the top honor were employees

He has served on the board of directors for the Osceola Center for the Arts, Casa de Mexico and the Osceola County Council on Aging. He is a member of the board of directors of the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce and founded the Minority Business Council and the Hispanic Business Council for the organization. Additionally, he has served as

committee chair for the Osceola County Sheriff Gang Reduction Task Force and chairman of the Red Cross of Osceola County. From 1997 to 2000, he served on the board of directors for the Osceola County Habitat for Humanity. Born and raised in Mexico, Hansen attended Croydon Technical College and London Tourism College. would never end, the Orlando Magic is back in action and ready to begin their season on Christmas day. The season was shortened to just 66 games, but should still prove to be as exciting as ever. There has been an extremely condensed free agency period and training camp, but a lot of movement has still occurred throughout the NBA.Unfortunately for Orlando, not a lot

of movement has taken place for the Magic. It seems we have already found our theme for the season, and it’s not good. The question “Is Dwight staying

in Orlando?” seems to be all we will hear this season. Howard has asked the team to be traded on multiple occasions, but continues to say he wants to be in Orlando to the media. He seems to be torn on his decision, so Orlando fans are holding out hope that they can retain him. Howard has continued to emphasize his desire to win, and doesn’t seem to care if it is here or somewhere else.New Magic C.E.O. Alex Martins has

been talking with Dwight to find out what it will take to keep him here. It seems fairly clear that Dwight wants another star to play alongside, which is why his number one team is the Nets, so he can play with Deron Williams. Williams is

regarded as one of the best point guards in the league, and was traded to the Nets last season. Orlando is having trouble bringing in another star to play with Howard because of their lack of assets to make trades. They were able to bring in Glen Davis from the Celtics in a trade sending Brandon Bass to Boston. Davis has been rumored to be on Dwight’s “list of demands” of players he would like to see in Orlando. Davis may end up being a slight upgrade over Bass, but he is far from the missing piece that Orlando needs to get back to the Finals.The front office also decided to use

the NBA’s new amnesty clause to waive Gilbert Arenas’ contract from the

books. His sizable contract and lack of remaining talent made him a clear choice for the team to use their amnesty on.Orlando split their two preseason games

The Heat took an early double digit lead, and held onto it through most of the first half. Kissimmee, FL – A Kissimmee woman is facing several charges for her involvement in a burglary committed by her son’s friends. On December 14, 2011, officers

responded to 1336 Springfield Street in Kissimmee in reference to a burglary. The victim was able to provide officers with surveillance video that showed the suspects burglarizing

the home. The victim recognized one of the juvenile suspects from the neighborhood and was able to provide officers with his identity. Through the course of the

investigation, detectives learned that the juvenile suspects agreed to sell some of the stolen items to 41-year-old Beatriz Gonzalez of Kissimmee. The suspects are friends with Gonzalez’s

son and told Gonzalez the items were stolen. Gonzalez agreed to sell the jewelry the juveniles had stolen and split the money with them. Gonzalez cooperated with detectives

and the stolen items were returned to the owner. An arrest warrant for Gonzalez has been obtained. Gonzalez is charged with Dealing in Stolen Property, Tampering with

Evidence and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and will have an $8000 bond.Detectives have obtained pick

up orders for both of the juveniles. They are charged with Burglary to a Residence, Grand Theft, Criminal Mischief and Dealing in Stolen Property.

Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee police officers have arrested a domestic violence suspect that was suspected of barricading himself inside a home.On December 15, 2011 at

approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Dellwood Avenue and Main Street in Kissimmee in reference to a domestic incident. The suspect, 32-year-old Joseph Manuel Diaz Cabeza, had threatened and held the 26-year-old female victim against her will inside the home. The victim was able to get away from Diaz Cabeza and call police. Diaz Cabeza was believed to be held up inside the home with a handgun. The Kissimmee SWAT Team

and Crisis Negotiation Team were deployed to the incident. As the incident continued, it

was believed that Diaz Cabeza was no longer inside the home. Officers along with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office helicopter canvassed the area for Diaz Cabeza, but he was not located. Kissimmee police detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Diaz Cabeza for False Imprisonment, Domestic Battery by Strangulation and Battery. On December 16, 2011,

Kissimmee police officers located and arrested Joseph Manuel Diaz Cabeza without incident. He was transported to the Osceola County Jail where he is being held on no bond.
