Luis VEGA will deliver a plenary talk at XXIV CEDYA / XIV CMA CEDYA-Congress on Differential Equations and Applications / CMA-Congress on Applied Mathematics June 8-12, 2015, at Universidad de Cádiz Luis VEGA, Scientific Director of BCAM, shall be a plenary speaker of the XXIV CEDYA / XIV CMA: The Vortex Filament Equation for regular polygons I shall present some recent work done in collaboration with F. De la Hoz about the evolution of regular polygons within the so-called Vortex Filament Equation. Each corner of the polygon generates some Kelvin waves that interact in a non-linear way that is closely related to the (linear) Talbot effect in optics. The question of the connection between the Talbot effect and turbulence will be also addressed, and in particular the appearance of multi-fractals and their relation with Frisch-Parisi conjecture. CEDYA / CMA is an initiative that arose from a group of mathematicians to promote research in Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Mechanics, Control and Optimization since first edition in September 1978 until this current edition. Besides the standard communications proposed by participants, is intended to have a large number of special sessions on specific problems of interest in the current mathematical research: PDE: Partial Differential Equations ODE: Ordinary Differential Equations NA: Numerical Analysis and Numerical Simulation CO: Control and Optimization NLA: Numerical Linear Algebra DS: Dynamical Systems AMI: Applied Mathematics for Industry OTHER TOPICS: Other topics not included in the list above (Scientific Computing, Approximation Theory, Discrete Mathematics, etc.) The organization has planned to grant a number of scholarships, according to budget availability. The scholarships are intended for students enrolled in a doctoral program in the course 14/15 only cover enrollment data. The deadline for receipt of applications is March 31, 2015. Además de las habituales comunicaciones por parte de los conferenciantes participantes, se pretender contar con un amplio número de sesiones especiales que cubran diferentes temáticas específicas de gran interés en la investigación matemática actual: EDP: Ecuaciones en Derivadas Parciales EDO: Ecuaciones Diferenciales Ordinarias AN: Análisis Numérico y Simulación Numérica CO: Control y Optimización ALN: Álgebra Lineal Numérica SD: Sistemas Dinámicos MAI: Matemáticas Aplicadas a la Industria OTROS TEMAS: Otros temas no incluidos en los anteriores (Cálculo Científico y Computación, Teoría de Aproximación, Matemática Discreta, etc.) La organización ha previsto la concesión de un cierto número de becas, según la disponibilidad presupuestaria.
