Class Description: Whatever your preferred mode of
transportation this basket will fit your needs! Begin by
inserting your spokes in a wooden base. You will weave
with 3 rod twining and a 2/1 twill. You decide the shape of your basket. The one pictured has a slight
flare but you can have it rounded in the front, brought in at the top or wherever your imagination leads
you! Leather straps are added to the back or a leather tote strap may be added so when you arrive at
your destination you can remove it from your bike and use it as a tote. Perfect for your trip to the
farmers market! This workshop may require extra class time.
Tools needed: Bucket for water, packing tool, scissors, tape measure, clothes pins, scarfing tool.
CLASS "2" – Tapas Pot
Duration: 1 Day (Monday)

Class Description: Any class with Anne will sooth your soul and this
bean pot shaped basket is no exception. You will start with a wood base
and dyed spokes. Typical techniques include twining, three rod wale
and continuous weaving. The fun begins when you choose from a wide
variety of chenille yarns, copper and various wires and waxed linen to
create a unique landscape. The rim is double lashed with waxed linen
and your pot is finished with a wire bale handle.
Tools needed: Small pan to soak materials, small awl, shears, packing
tool, needlenose pliers.

CLASS "3" – Cedar Fish Rattle

Class Description: Two is better than one and with
Sheila and Elaine you will see that is true! These two
master teachers will lead you on this fishing adventure.
Your project is woven with red cedar spokes and yellow cedar twiners beginning over a wooden mold.
As you continue weaving choices may be made to use other materials and colors to provide your own
original design. BB’s and beads are added to make a contemporary version of a traditional Northwest
Native rattle.
Tools needed: Shears, spray bottle, small water container, small packing tool, apron, tapestry needle and
a bent tip or curved needle.
CLASS "4" – Wave Tote

Class Description: This may be the year of the tote and this
gem is no exception. You will weave on an oval ash base.
Techniques will include lots of triple twining and the wave

swing handles. This workshop may require extra class time.

CLASS "5" – Sabrina

Class Description: Flo is back for the 29th
year and still
has brand new projects for you! Sabrina is a smaller
version of one of Flo’s favorite baskets. It begins with a
standard oval base with the sides being woven with 3 rod
wale, 4 rod coils and a packing weave. No matter the
shape, the outside handles make the basket into a graceful
oval. Your project is finished with a 4-row rolled border and rope wrapped handles.
Tools needed: Diagonal cutting pliers or strong scissors, needlenose pliers, medium awl, knife, plastic
dishpan, bandaids or finger tape, towel.
CLASS "6" – Triangle Challenge
Duration: 1 Day (Monday)

Class Description: You may ask “why does Cass call it a
challenge?” They say that rewards come with challenges
and shaping it the number one challenge in this class
followed closely by the spacing of the spokes. Cass will let
you decide if you would like two levels or three. This basket
is woven on an equilateral triangle wooden base. In order to save time, Cass will have the spokes inserted
and glued. Weaving is done with round reed, cane spokes and cedar weavers. As Cass wove this there
were times that she was worried that she was stuck in the Bermuda Triangle and would never get out!!
Tools needed: Small towel, spray bottle, scissor and shear cutter, pocket knife.

CLASS "7" – Russian Birch Bark Canister with Curls, Roots and
Lid Duration: 1 Day (Monday)

This canister is double woven in the traditional diagonal Russian
weave. The decorative rim is stitched in place with prepared
spruce root. Vladimir will individually fit the hand carved wooden
top. Prior experience with diagonal weaving is highly
recommended. This workshop may require extra class time.
Tools needed: 8 Radio Shack 1 1/8” smooth clips (270-0373) and
three 2” pony clamps (not clothespins) and a bucket for soaking.

Class Description: This is a great sized tote – not too big, not
too small! The students will begin by inserting natural spokes
into a wooden base. Techniques include 3 rod twining using
several colors and start/stop weaving. Shaping will be a
challenge as the sides are to be woven straight up. Leather tote
handles are added when lashing the rim. You can choose from
teal or aquamarine.

CLASS "9" – Appalachian Potato Basket
Duration: 1 Day (Tuesday)

Ability Level: Intermediate/Advanced

Class Description: This Appalachian style ribbed basket is
really fun to make. Using an oak oval hoop, students will
learn how to notch initial ribs, weave a 5 point lashing; sight,
whittle and insert primary and secondary ribs and weave to
a successful conclusion. Ribs will be dyed to add a bit of color, as well as some dyed weavers and seagrass
if you wish. Students should bring a sharpened knife to class for whittling. While some students may not
complete their entire basket in the time allotted, they will have all of the knowledge necessary to finish at
home. This workshop may require extra class time.

CLASS "10" –Oval Star Quilt Bowl

Class Description: Students will start this basket with a
rectangular, twill quilt star pattern base forming a shallow
cat’s head. As you continue weaving up the sides, you will
use a quadrafoil pattern to form the oval bowl. Careful
attention to shaping will be a focus of this basket.
Tools needed: dish pan or small water bucket, hand towel, pencil, measuring tape, scissors for cutting
reed, spring type clothespins or clamps, packing tool, spray bottle, knife or shaving tool. Zip ties are

CLASS "11" – Cane Your Day Away

Class Description: In no time at all you will learn the seven basic steps of
caning on a finely crafted footstool of hardwood. These footstools are
made with you in mind, as the legs can be removed for easy travel. You
will be able to apply your new skills to all of those chairs you’re storing in
the attic, or perhaps you will even start your own chair caning business!
This workshop may require extra class time.

hardwood base. Some of the techniques you will learn and perfect

CLASS "13" – Butterflies are Free

Class Description: This basket starts with the unusual
square butterfly base. The base is then bi-spoked and
woven up the sides with 2-rod wale and 3-rod arrows.
The central over one/under one design with flat oval
reed is artfully enhanced with cane in a diamond
weave pattern. The border is a 3-rod behind-one border with two follow-on tracs ending on the outside.
Tools needed: Diagonal cutting pliers or strong scissors, needlenose pliers, medium awl, knife, plastic
dishpan, bandaids or finger tape, towel.
CLASS "14" – Weaving with Silver - 101 Duration: 1 Day (Tuesday)

Class Description: Rather than spending class learning just one
Chainmaille weave and cutting your own rings, students will have
many choices! While class is strictly earrings, you will have the choice
of four weaves- Mobius Rose, Celtic Diamond, Helm Flower, and
Double Helm Dangle. While you will be using silver filled rings (that
is NOT plated and does NOT wear or tarnish!), students will have the
use of copper rings for accents. Depending on your level of
experience, students may make one or two pairs, or all four!
Rounding out the experience, you will also learn to make your own
ear wires.
Tools needed: Two pairs of long handle chain nose pliers. Beadalon has nice ergonomic pliers for
$10.00-$15.00. Bring a task light and magnification as well as a notebook and pen.

Spruce Root

foundation of which is a simple oval basket made
with the traditional diagonal plaiting, double-
woven technique. Challenge yourself with the rim,

inserting spokes into a round base. Techniques that

rounded as you weave. Many color choices will be available to personalize your basket.

Class Description: Students will begin with a beautiful abalone shell, at least six inches in length. You
will then weave a twill base and fit it to the base of the shell. Design using color, open and undulating
waves to enclose the base of the shell. Shell sizes will vary slightly. Students will have a variety of
materials and colors to choose from to create a one of a kind design.
Tools needed: Dish pan or small water bucket, hand towel, pencil, measuring tape, scissors for cutting

CLASS "21" – Weaving with Silver - 102

Class Description: This class is one step up from Weaving
with Sliver – 101. In this class, you will move onto making
bracelets. The different weave you can choose from are:
Viper Weave, Helm/Byzantine Combo Weave, and Double
Round. Depending on experience, it is expected students can complete two bracelets during class. While
you will be using silver filled rings (that is NOT plated and does NOT wear or tarnish!), students will
have the use of copper rings for accents. Clasps will be provided in your kits.

CLASS "23" – Square Ribbed Baskets
Duration: 2 Days (Wednesday - Thursday)

Class Description: These square ribbed baskets are fun
to make and help students who struggle with certain
aspects of ribbed basketry to better understand and
experience their construction. All begin with a different
type of handle embellishment woven in cane. Then students will learn Anne’s patented way of making a
god’s eye. Next, preformed ribs are inserted in the basket, and weaving beings with cane (the 10” basket
also has a set of secondary ribs). The rest of the weaving is completed with dyed reed. Emphasis on
weaving so that the basket will sit well. If students are relatively new to ribbed construction, Anne would
recommend the 6” or 8” style. This workshop may require extra class time.

CLASS "24" – Oval Shopper on a Catalan Base Duration: 2 Days (Wednesday-Thursday)
Instructor: Lene Rasmussen – Wainfleet, Ontario
Ability Level: Advanced
Materials Fee: $125.00
Dimensions: 12” x 14” x 9”
Class Description: Students will learn to make a Catalan base and stake
up on a willow hoop (supplied). A 3-rod base wale starting under the
basket is woven. The side weave is French rand and /or double French
rand. The student with advanced skills working with willow may have a
choice of other side weave techniques as for example, fitching. The top
wale is a 4-rod wale and finish with a level border and bow handle.
No written instructions will be handed out so bring pen, paper and a
camera. Sheets of photos
showing specific steps during the weaving process will be handed out.
All willow is grown at Lene’s farm, Lakeshore Willows, without any use of chemicals.
Tools needed: A pair of good, clean, and sharp bypass pruners, large awl, weight, rapping iron,
measuring tape or ruler, and other willow basketry tools you may have.

Class Description: Last spring, I helped to help clean out
closets and drawers after a dear friend’s passing. I was
pleasantly surprised when I found an old Native American
ash basket, hidden away in a drawer. It was gifted to me
and became the inspiration for this creative basket.
Students will learn a new round base with 14 spokes and weave with both blades of sweetgrass and black
ash. You will create and weave your own design for the side of this basket using your own braided
sweetgrass, black ash, elm bark and cedar bark.
The top of your basket is completed with an elm bark and sweetgrass border lashed with black ash.
The sources of and preparation of these natural materials will be discussed.

Class description: The base of this bias weave consists of
wider birch strips and narrower willow strips. The top edge is saw tooth and tucked securely. Students
will have the choice of: a spruce root rim which doubles as a rim/wall hanger handle, a buttonhole stitch
hanger, or a steel wire rim handle, or any combination of the three. Material will be provided for a 2nd
basket will wider willow and narrower birch. We will have many options for creativity with the steel wire
which can manipulate the basket’s shape.

CLASS "35" – Berkshire Pack Basket

Class Description: This little pack basket is named
after the Berkshire Mountains near JoAnn’s home in
Massachusetts, but it is inspired by the packs used
by trappers in the Adirondacks. It is chase woven of
precisely prepared black ash splint over a puzzle
mold that must be taken apart to be removed. Although small in size (a business card will fit) it has all of
the featured of the full sixed pack – lashed rims, ash handle, leather harness and buckle as well ash skeds
on the base. The ash rims are single lashed.

Class Description: This class is aptly named!! Topsy
Turvy is a double walled basket which begins with a
double cross base. The inside basket is woven with 3 rod
wale, then a behind-two-and-out border puts side spokes
on the outside where another complete basket is woven.
The central design in the outer wall is herringbone
weave which is French randing in two directions. The
uneven rows are woven to the right and the even rows to the left. Three rod wale shapes the basket
inward and a simple trac border finishes it off at the bottom.
Tools needed: Diagonal cutting pliers or strong scissors, needlenose pliers, medium awl, knife, plastic
dishpan, bandaids or finger tape, towel.
CLASS "38" – Small Shoulder Bag

CLASS "39" – Ripple Effect

Class Description: This unique piece is a combination of between
weave twining, with a knotted element added to create the beautiful
spiral effect. A mold is used to control the shape. Finely split Elm
bark spokes will be twined with cedar bark, and waxed cotton or
linen. Birch bark weavers are used with the cord in the between
weave/knotted twining section. A wider outside split of Elm bark is
added as an accent, finishing off with a wonderful braided border. If
you enjoy a challenge with mixed media barks pallet, this class is for
you! This workshop may require extra class time.

CLASS "40" – Polish “Stanislav” Basket

Class Description: This basket was taught in
Denmark by Stanislav from Poland giving this willow
basket technique its name! The students will learn to
make a round woven base, inserting stakes and weave the three rod wale. The side weave is a French
rand followed by an asymmetrical top part woven with the stakes. A handle is inserted and tied on at the
top. Heavy willow rods will be provided for the handle but students are welcome to bring driftwood or
other materials suitable for a handle.
No written instructions will be handed out so bring pen, paper and a camera. Sheets of photos
showing specific steps during the weaving process will be handed out.
The willow used is grown at Lene’s home, Lakeshore Willows, without the use of chemicals.
Tools needed: Pair of good, clean and sharp bypass pruners, large awl, weights, rapping iron, measuring
tape or ruler. Bring a pencil, paper and camera as no written instructions will be provided.

that is indigenous to the Northeast Woodlands. It has a
rectangular bottom and an oval top. Students will sew

red willow that you will bend and split. You will construct a lid from bark, roots and a branch. Different
stitching patterns are possible on the pine bark.

a rivercane basket made by the Choctaw Indians. Our
version is woven from dyed Hamburg cane in the

learn to turn the corners to produce this unique shape. The top of your heart is woven in plain weave and
finished with a traditional rim and small handle for hanging on the wall.

CLASS "53" – Scalloped Collar White Pine Mokok

Class Description: This large Mokok is a Northeast
woodland Native American style container of stitched
bark, round top and square bottom originally used to
store food and accoutrements. Sew white pine bark
with spruce roots that you will peel and prepare and
make an inner/outer rim from red willow that you will bend and split. White pine bark feels like leather
when wet, dries like wood and smells wonderful! You may try different stitching petterns and the collar
is bark turned inside out. Each piece will be unique. All materials are wild harvested in the Northern
Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts by Jennifer and her family,
