Our February speaker, Jay A.

Conner, presented the Honor

Flight program, which provides

World War II veterans free

trips to the Memorial in Wash-

ington D.C. The Memorial was

completed in 2004, but it was

discovered that most veterans

could not afford the trip. The

first trips were organized in

2005. Over 200,000 have made

the trip. From the Santa Barba-

ra hub, three trips are planned

in 2018, in May, June, and Oc-

tober. Each vet is provided

with a guardian and a “personal

carrier” (wheel chair) for the

three day trip.

Song Sheet for Today

Five Cities Rams Song Leader Roy Parker, Don Frommelt alternate America the Beautiful

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain.

America! America! God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

Oh! Beautiful for patriots dream

That sees beyond the years -

Thine alabaster cities gleam

Undimmed by human tears,

America! America! God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

My Wild Irish Rose

My wild Irish Rose, the sweetest flower that grows,

You may search everywhere, but none can compare

With my wild Irish Rose.

My wild Irish Rose, the dearest flower that grows,

And some say for my sake, she may let me take

The bloom from my wild Irish Rose.

(slow) My Rose, the bloom from my wild Irish Rose.

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling When Irish eyes are smiling,

Sure it’s like a morn in spring,

In the lilt of Irish laughter

You can hear the angels sing,

When Irish hearts are happy,

All the world seems bright and gay,

And, when Irish eyes are smiling,

Sure they steal your heart away.

April Showers Through April showers may come your way.

They bring the flowers that bloom in May;

So when it’s raining, have no regrets,

Because it isn’t raining rain you know,

It’s raining violets.

And where you see clouds upon the hill,

There soon will be crowds of daffodils;

So keep on looking for a bluebird,

And listening for his song,

Whenever April showers come along.
