Tone and mood are often confused, so now would be a good time to make sure you

understand the difference between the two.

If tone is the author's attitude toward a subject, then mood is how we are made to

feel as readers, or the emotion evoked by the author.

Today, we will start planning our poems.

1. Choose three of your flavours and write a separate stanza for each of them.

2. Think about two rhyming words that would go with your poem. Think about ‘ food words’ that rhyme.

3. Try to plan a poem with four stanzas. Each stanza should have four lines.

Use your 2 rhyming words to create the first two lines. Remember, the rhymes needs to be at the end of each line. Include alliteration using the name of one of the scoops in your ice-cream.

Today, we will try to use personification in our third stanza.
