“All the Bible is to you, all the bible is for you but not all of the bible

is about you.”

Two Specific Promises• Psalm 34:9–10 • Oh fear the LORD, you His

saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

Page 5: Biblical principles of finance

Two Specific Promises• Psalm 84:11 • For the LORD God is a sun

and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Page 6: Biblical principles of finance

“Oh, that's a beautiful promise.

• People say "I want that,” but don't pause to examine the conditions.

• Most of God's promises are conditional: “If you do this—I will do that.”

Page 7: Biblical principles of finance

Not all are conditional

• Of course, there are some unconditional promises of God.

• For instance, “In the last days . . . I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh” (Acts 2:17)

Page 8: Biblical principles of finance

Another is God's promise of the restoration of Israel.

• These are unconditional promises of God related to a certain time.

• There are some promises that God will do unconditionally when it suits Him.

Page 9: Biblical principles of finance

–Derek Prince

“However, most of God's promises are conditional.”

Page 10: Biblical principles of finance

God always starts from the inside!

• Many things we strive for on the outside, success, marriage, finances, having children but we don't seem to realize that these things or external success is predicated on internal development or growth

Page 11: Biblical principles of finance

God always starts from the inside

• which is why we are human beings first, not human doers

• To have a child a seed in the inside must be planted

• Oyedepo says If you do the work the results would come natural

Page 12: Biblical principles of finance

Godly Principles for all

• 1 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV) • 6 I have planted,

Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

Page 13: Biblical principles of finance

Where is our focus?

• We spend so much of our time and energy focused on praying for increase or growth.

• We sometimes fail to pray for planting and watering!

Page 14: Biblical principles of finance

Now to our finances • Luke 12:33-34 (NKJV) • 33 Sell what you have and give alms;

provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Page 15: Biblical principles of finance

Pray for the Prosperity of the city • Jeremiah 29:7 (NKJV) • 7 And seek the peace of the

city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

Page 16: Biblical principles of finance

Pray for the Prosperity of the city • Jeremiah 29:7 (AMP) • 7 And seek (inquire for, require, and

request) the peace and welfare of the city to which I have caused you to be carried away captive; and pray to the Lord for it, for in the welfare of [the city in which you live] you will have welfare.

Page 17: Biblical principles of finance

Pray for the Prosperity of the city • Jeremiah 29:7 (NLT) • 7 And work for the peace and

prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

Page 18: Biblical principles of finance

For what exactly?

• Notice its peace & prosperity because without peace there is no prosperity but we must also pray for its prosperity!

Page 19: Biblical principles of finance

Exactly the same concept in praying for the nation

• 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NKJV) • 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that

supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Page 20: Biblical principles of finance

Let's Start with The Most a Popular Revelation

• Philippians 4:18-20 (KJV) • 18 But I have all, and abound: I am

full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

Page 21: Biblical principles of finance

Let's Start with The Most a Popular Revelation

• Philippians 4:18-20 (KJV)

• 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Page 22: Biblical principles of finance

Background on The Philippian Church

• Acts 16:12–40 records the founding of the Philippian church. Paul established the church during his second missionary journey, about A.D. 51.

Page 23: Biblical principles of finance

Background on The Philippian Church

• From its inception, the church displayed a strong missionary zeal and was consistent in its support of Paul’s ministry (4:15, 16; see 2 Cor. 11:8, 9).

Page 24: Biblical principles of finance

Background on The Philippian Church

• Paul enjoyed a closer friendship with the Philippians than with any other church.

• Philippians 4:10-20 (NKJV) • 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly

that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

• Philippians 4:10-20 (NKJV) • 12 I know how to be abased, and I

know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

• Philippians 4:10-20 (NKJV)

• 14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress. 15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.

• Philippians 4:10-20 (NKJV)

• 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.

Page 31: Biblical principles of finance

Something gave birth to the other!

• There is a ministry to which brings forth a ministry for the saints that causes a man like you and I to say: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus

Page 32: Biblical principles of finance

Something gave birth to the other!

• For example someone comes up to me and offers me his phone because he sees me struggling with my phone or always borrowing some by else's to work or a tablet or even a car etc

Page 33: Biblical principles of finance

Something gave birth to the other!

• Then he gives me his or meets a recognize a personal need not just a church need, it provokes a blessing!

Page 34: Biblical principles of finance

Something gave birth to the other!

• He calls that gift "a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God." But it was given to a man

Page 35: Biblical principles of finance

Our Assumptions

• We assume it's better to pray, God supply my need accordingly to your riches in glory, yet that's not what is happening here.

Page 36: Biblical principles of finance

The Truth!

• Paul is revealing what caused or provoked the blessing of supply to these Philippian Christians

Page 37: Biblical principles of finance

I take responsibility for not teaching this as I should.

• I didn't want to interpret the bible and do what's others do even though I will be at the beneficial end of it but to seek God for the truth contained herein

Page 38: Biblical principles of finance

This is what I got!• "Father give us a

revelation so that you can supply our needs according to your specifications"

Page 39: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• Everything we do with God must

be by faith, if we don't have faith we can t please him, the source of the blessing or cannot receive anything from him

• ( Hebrews 11:1 & James 1:6)

Page 40: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• If I try to provoke God

blessing by asking you to do something for me it won't be by faith and if I keep quiet it will be wrong yet ..

Page 41: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• ....at the same time if you

respond & copy others it won't be by faith either but a desperation to have your needs met by formula not faith!

Page 42: Biblical principles of finance

God reveal Yourself to us so we can have our needs supplied.

• Give us a revelation of the things we need to do and be involved in that will cause us to have our needs met not just now but every day and at every opportunity!

Page 43: Biblical principles of finance

God reveal Yourself to us so we can have our needs supplied.

• Father, Whatever revelation I need to know and understand so I won't struggle to to have my needs met and supplied by you please Father show us you how by Your Word and by Your Spirit

Page 44: Biblical principles of finance

God reveal Yourself to us so we can have our needs supplied.

• It's your will to have our needs met, send us laborers into our lives who will perfect what is lacking in our faith, so we know what to do & how to do it.

Page 45: Biblical principles of finance

Pray!• Let your revelations come

so we can act according to your word. We will not be double minded. We would act in your truth

Page 46: Biblical principles of finance

Pray!• Let the scales fall off.

Teach us throughout your word and by your spirit. That we might receive the blessing of God

Page 47: Biblical principles of finance

ITS NOT JUST GOD GIVE ME THIS OR THAT

• Remember faith comes by hearing and since Jesus is The Word and vice versa when Jesus speaks a word to you it brings faith but if it's from my mouth it's not faith

Page 48: Biblical principles of finance

Elijah to the Widow Woman• 1 Kings 17:12 (NKJV) • 12 So she said, “As the Lord your God

lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Page 49: Biblical principles of finance

Elijah to the Widow Woman• 1 Kings 17:13 (NKJV) • 13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not

fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.

Page 50: Biblical principles of finance

Elijah to the Widow Woman• 1 Kings 17:14 (NKJV) • 14 For thus says the Lord God

of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”

Page 51: Biblical principles of finance

Elijah to the Widow Woman• 1 Kings 17:15-16 (NKJV) • 15 So she went away and did

according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.

Page 52: Biblical principles of finance

Specific Instructions • But it was not a general word to all

widows about to die and she received the specific blessing of having endless supply during the famine

• Unless God says to me to tell you then it brings faith. It's not just give Pastor or somebody else something but an act of obedience to faith

LETS LOOK AT A REVELATION OF GOD TO A PEOPLE

Page 54: Biblical principles of finance

Brief Summary of a The Book of Malachi

• The book of Malachi was written to correct the lax religious and social behavior of the Israelites – particularly the priests – in post-exilic Jerusalem.

Page 55: Biblical principles of finance

Brief Summary of a The Book of Malachi

• A common rhetorical structure in the books is the following three part exchange:

• The Lord makes an accusation • The accusation is questioned • The accusation is elaborated upon

Page 56: Biblical principles of finance

Malachi: Return to me and I will return to you

• In other words we are in trouble, Lord how can we come back home and God responds and gives them a revelation of the word

Page 57: Biblical principles of finance

God Reveals The Truth• Malachi 3:8-12 (KJV) • 8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have

robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Page 58: Biblical principles of finance

God Reveals The Truth• Malachi 3:8-12 (KJV) • 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the

storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Page 59: Biblical principles of finance

God Reveals The Truth• Malachi 3:8-12 (KJV) • 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your

sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

Page 60: Biblical principles of finance

Tithe is a revelation from God• Every time you have a

problem let God reveal the solution of the word

• David and famine and the death of Sauls relatives as atonement - 2 Samuel 21

Page 61: Biblical principles of finance

Ask the right questions!• It's not just why am I not growing but

what is stopping me from growing • What is stopping us from being wealthy

and rich • What is stopping us from breakthroughs • What's is hindering our businesses from

exploding

Page 62: Biblical principles of finance

Ask the right questions!• Reveal to us these things

we need to deal with because we want the windows of heaven open, and our vine casting it fruit before a it's time

Page 63: Biblical principles of finance

Ask the right questions!• We want blessings there

would not have room to contain it,

• Bring us back to you. Help us to walk in the relation of the the truth.

Page 64: Biblical principles of finance

• There is no short cut to be obedience but obedience!

Page 65: Biblical principles of finance

NOTHING NEW HERE• Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) • 18 But thou shalt remember the Lord

thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Page 66: Biblical principles of finance

Wealth & Success• Deuteronomy 8:18 (NLT) • 18 Remember the Lord your God.

He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.

Page 67: Biblical principles of finance

Word Wealth - Power Strong’s #3581:

• power, koach (ko-akh); Vigor, strength, force, capacity, power, wealth, means, or substance.

• Generally the word means “capacity” or “ability,” whether physical, mental, or spiritual.

Page 68: Biblical principles of finance

Word Wealth - Power• Here Moses informs Israel

that it is God who gives to them the “ability” (power, means, endurance, capacity) to obtain wealth, for material

Page 69: Biblical principles of finance

We love to pray for Money, Wealth & Riches

• Money represents value. • Picture of a £10 note • But God is offering us

"The Power or Ability to Create Wealth"

Page 70: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• To establish his covenant • Let's reverse the reading • In order for my covenant to be

established in your heart, in your land, in your family and business I will give you the ability to create wealth.

Page 71: Biblical principles of finance

Question • If someone wants to give you the

ability to create wealth, what then do you do

• It's not "to take" because that has negative connotations of grabbing what does not belong to us

Page 72: Biblical principles of finance

Our Reply• I don't think so lord please give

me the wealth, or the money, • Thank you I really would prefer

the wealth or the money and I am not quite sure I need or know what to do with ability.

Page 73: Biblical principles of finance

We pray give me wealth or money or riches

• But we ignore and refuse to pray to acknowledge, understand and receive the ability you have freely given to us.

Page 74: Biblical principles of finance

Found their ability to create wealth• Richard Branson & Jack Ma - The

Internet is not going to take jobs away from people but create opportunities for other

• Uber an App that has created the biggest taxi cab company in the world

Page 75: Biblical principles of finance

Found their ability to create wealth• Steve jobs with his mac computers,

iphone and iPad found his ability to make wealth

• Oprah through talking and interviews found her ability to create wealth

• Edison Thomas found his ability to create wealth through his inventions

Page 76: Biblical principles of finance

God show me my own ability to create wealth please reveal it to me

Page 77: Biblical principles of finance

Finding your ability to create wealth• Some people create wealth by

putting on clothes some by taking it off

• Some create wealth by sewing clothes others by selling clothes

• Some create wealth by dancing someone else by playing golf

Page 78: Biblical principles of finance

2 Things to Remember• Faith without corresponding

action is dead, your faith should make you act.

• Step out • Have an expectation!

Page 79: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• Ask and you shall receive; keep asking in

this case of the ability to create wealth • Seek and you shall find, keep seeking

new wealth opportunities • Knock and it shall be opened unto you.

Keep pushing, keeping knocking and more doors of opportunity would be opened.

Page 80: Biblical principles of finance

Why?• We have asked God and now

seek out the ability, the gift and ability to create wealth then use that ability to knock on doors of opportunity.

• It's always a context of giving

Page 81: Biblical principles of finance

The GRACE of GIVING

Page 82: Biblical principles of finance

This is God Ultimate • 2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP) • 8 And God is able to make all grace (every

favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

Page 83: Biblical principles of finance

Let's Look Again at The Context

• The second unit, chapters 8 and 9, deals with the offering being raised by Paul for the poor saints in Judea.

• Paul urged the Corinthians to be liberal and cheerful in giving so that God might bless them in every way

Page 84: Biblical principles of finance

A FAITH-PROMISE OFFERING• Paul, you remember, got the church

to promise a certain amount and then he would give them a year to pay it.

• As the year drew to a close, he would send Titus, or someone else to stir the church, so that he would not be ashamed when he arrived.

Page 85: Biblical principles of finance

A FAITH-PROMISE OFFERING• Then at the end of the year, he

came and collected it. • Therefore a Faith Promise Offering

is a Pauline offering and God blesses it. (See Chapters 8 & 9 of 2 Corinthians in Living Letters.)

Page 86: Biblical principles of finance

The Cheerful or Hilarious Giver

• 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV) • 6 But this I say: He who

sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Page 87: Biblical principles of finance

The Cheerful or Hilarious Giver

• 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV) • 7 So let each one give as he

purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Page 88: Biblical principles of finance

The Cheerful or Hilarious Giver • 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV) • 8 And God is able to make all

grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Page 89: Biblical principles of finance

The Cheerful or Hilarious Giver

• 2 Corinthians 9:9 (NKJV) • 9 As it is written: “He has

dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”

Page 90: Biblical principles of finance

Do you sow into other people's lives• If you do • Do you sow sparingly • Then again do you sow bountifully and

if you do, you reap bountifully • Then God would make all grace or God

is able to make what you don't deserve to come to you.

Page 91: Biblical principles of finance

The Result Promised• You are always Self

sufficient because God supplies all your need

• But it's based on the question do you give

Page 92: Biblical principles of finance

Have you heard of a poor philanthropist

• Which one came first the philanthropy or the wealth?

• We of the faith postpone our philanthropy till we become rich

• That's why he considers our giving not by our size or income but by our hearts. The widows mite is a great example

Page 93: Biblical principles of finance

Poor Philanthropist by Daphne Thomson

• "Being poor, does not mean that you cannot be a philanthropist. A philanthropist is first a philanthropist at heart. They love to give and feel compelled to do so."

Page 94: Biblical principles of finance

Poor Philanthropist by Daphne Thomson

• "They give in ways that they are able, to those in need around them, in spite of their own great need. Giving can involve money but more often it is in the form of encouraging words, time, service, and sharing of resources"

Page 95: Biblical principles of finance

– Daphne Thomson

"When our poverty ceases to be a source of shame, and becomes a

source of abundance, we have become poor

philanthropists.”

Page 96: Biblical principles of finance

The Widow's Two Mites• Mark 12:41-44 (NKJV) • 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury

and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them,

Page 97: Biblical principles of finance

The Widow's Two Mites• Mark 12:41-44 (NKJV) • “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor

widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Page 98: Biblical principles of finance

God measures what we give by what we keep!

• When I become rich I will be a philanthropist but the bible says its your faith in God that's makes you a philanthropist and gives you access to all the grace and generosity of God

• So how do you sow & this is not limited to church of believers

Page 99: Biblical principles of finance

Sparingly and bountifully

• Bountiful is not amount it has to do with in proportion to what you have

• 5 bushels to 50 Bushels net 40 Bushels

• 10 bushels to 100 Bushels net 90 Bushels

Page 100: Biblical principles of finance

Lord I have to be generous so all grace can abound to me,

• We use to just give • Help me to be generous • Open my eyes teach me, help

me • Help me to walk in the light of

your revealed word to me

Page 101: Biblical principles of finance

Law vs Grace• Law is outside • Grace is inside internal • Written on the heart by the Holy Spirit • Law came through moses but grace

through Jesus Christ by what he did on the cross

Page 102: Biblical principles of finance

Law vs Grace• Grace cannot be earned but received • Ephesians says by grace are you

saved • Gal 5:6 says faith works by love • Right giving comes from grace not

law

Page 103: Biblical principles of finance

Natural says, I can't afford to give but faith says, you cannot afford not to give!

Page 104: Biblical principles of finance

Give & Men Give Back to You

• Luke 6:38 (NKJV) • 38 Give, and it will be given to you:

good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Page 105: Biblical principles of finance

GIVE YOURSELF FIRST• 2 Corinthians 8:5 (NKJV) • 5 And not only as we had

hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.
