Please note that due to holy month of Ramadan & Eid we had very limited activities during these two months. ISACA Official Review Courses in Karachi ISACA Karachi Chapter is the only accredited body (authorized by ISACA International) to conduct ISACA Official Review Course in Karachi. Your Chapter is conducting official review courses for December 2012 exams of CISA, CISM, CGEIT & CRISC.
Program Orientation: A free orientation session for review courses was held at 28th August 2012. A large number of audiences including chapter members & non members (IT security professionals) attended the program. Classes: Classes commenced on 3rd September 2012 by ISACA Certified & highly qualified faculty. This time we are conducting classes at SKANS School of Accountancy Karachi Discount: As usual, your chapter offered early bird discount to members.
Two Free Webinars from ISACA I would like to inform you that ISACA will conduct two free webinar, so avail these great opportunities and earn free CPEs ! Final Deadline for December 2012 Exams: As you know registration for the certification exams on 8 December continues. I hope that all of you have met the final Registration deadline (3rd October 2012) for the 8 December 2012 CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC exams. Avail 17 months membership in price of 12 ! To encourage new members there is a great offer from ISACA. All new members who join ISACA pay the full year dues and receive member benefits through 31 Dec 2013—that is 17 months of membership for the price of 12 months! New CPE Policy from 2012 Effective 1 January 2012, the annual limitation for each ISACA certification for qualifying activities that fall under “contributions to the profession” have been increased from a 10-hour annual limitation to a 20-hour annual limitation. These activities include work performed for ISACA and other bodies that contribute to the IT audit, control, security and governance professions (i.e., research development, certification review manual development, Knowledge Center contributions). The new policies can be viewed online on the CISA, CISM, CGEIT and CRISC CPE Policy pages. COBIT 5 released COBIT 5 has been released. You may know that COBIT 5 is a major strategic improvement, providing the next generation of guidance on the governance and management of enterprise IT. I suggest you utilize this valuable resource which is the latest release by ISACA. technical experts from Google
visiting Pakistan to run a series of
sessions for marketers and software
developers.
The first session focused on how
Pakistan can harness Google web
and marketing tools and search to
develop markets and re-energize its
economy. The experts from Google
discussed in depth how such
strategies had been successful in
other emerging markets.
Following the introductory address,
Aileen Apolo, Head of Outreach,
Southeast Asia conducted a session
on "G+ for your business". Aileen
develops and implements programs
to help grow the internet eco-system
which includes gDays and
community development.
Niken Sasmaya, Online Partnership
Group, Google Southeast Asia
spoke on: "Aligning your AdSense
account with your long-term
business goals." Niken works
closely with strategic publishers to
help them grow their business with
Google Publisher Monetization
Solution. She is a consultant for all
Google Publisher Monetization
Products, including AdSense,
DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP),
DoubleClick Ad Exchange (AdX),
and AdMob.
Google has said that it sees Pakistan
as a US 500 million dollar (or Rs.
47 Billion) advertising market with
Free File Sharing website from
Pakistan
22 million internet users, which is
larger than the population of
Australia and Singapore.
Google will keep playing a pivotal
role in online advertisements in
Pakistan due to their monopoly in
Search Engine and heavily visited
properties such as YouTube,
Blogger, Gmail and others.
Despite only 13-15 percent internet
penetration rate, Pakistani internet
population of 23 million heads stand
at 20th position in the world, making
it a significant market for internet
giants such as Google.
JumpShare.com, is the Country's
first online file sharing website
which enables its users to drag and
drop files to share and view 150
types of file formats including
photos, videos, documents,
presentations, code, and countless
other file types, has been launched.
Users can drag and drop their files to
be shared across the globe with their
friends and co-workers.
Users don’t require to sign-up or any
registration process. Simply go to the
URL and start sharing files. It allows
maximum of 100MB single file to be
shared and maximum of 2GB for all
the files uploaded by a single user.
JumpShare said that they will
increase this limit once users’
accounts in near future.

Country General Manager, IBM
Pakistan. He succeeds Humayun
Bashir who has been named
Business Development Executive for
IBM Middle East and Africa.
Humayun Bashir moves into his new
role after a 13-year tenure as CGM
for Pakistan, during a 35-year career
at IBM.
