ENGINEERING COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING SITE VISIT: BHADAR – II DATA OF VISIT: 20/02/2015, FRIDAY SEMESTER: 6 TH DURATION OF VISIT: 01 DAY Students of 6 th sem. –civil visit Bhadar –II dam site as a part of industrial visit on 20 th February; 2015.journey was started at morning 8.00 am from Rajkot to Bhadar dam. We reached dam site at 10.30 am. At Bhadar dam sit in charge Mr.Modha sir explained in detail – technical information of dam and explained components of dam on site. After that interaction session was arranged in which was very interesting one. Site visit was very fruitful for students to know working of dam, construction of dam, catchment area, design criteria of dam, maintenance of various components of dam. DETAIL OF PROJECT: Bhadar-II dam is located across river Bhadar, near village Bhuki in Dhoraji taluka of Rajkot district, Gujarat. The dam is 90 km from Rajkot city. The dam across river Bhadar comprise of 3021.70 meter long earthen dam and 405.32 meter long masonry spillway in the river gorge with 22 numbers of radial gates for passing design flood of 26380.12 cumec (SPF). Maximum height of the earthen dam is 11.83 meter and that of spillway is 28.72 meter. The dam impounds gross and live storage of 49.0 Mcum and 41.85 Mcum respectively. The CCA and irrigation potential of the project is 9965 ha and 8570 hectare. the canal system comprises of 32.30 km long Left bank canal off taking from the dam. The main canal has carrying capacity of 6.132 cumec at the head.
