Soft - Start after switching-on, this will protectconnected electronic control systems.

Primary voltages are optionally two AC voltages: 230 V /one phase or 400 V / two phase.

Standart operation mode - charging unit

On charging operation with IU - characteristic at first - incase of discharged battery - a constant current(I-characteristic) of 5 - 10 - 15 - 20 - 35 A, according to unittype, flows.

Prior to attaining the adjusted final charging voltage thecurrent falls. Simultaneously the voltage rises up to the finalcharging voltage (U-characteristic) and the currentcontinues falling down until the value, required for tricklecharging and for the supply of the connected consumers isattained.the nominal current is never exceeded due to theregulated current limitation.

The factory pre-setting of the charging voltage lies belowthe permissible voltage at begin of gassing. Even in casesof short-circuit like load events (e.g. connecting a startermotor) the unit must not be disconnected, because thenominal current is never exceeded due to the regulatedcurrent limitation.

Application

The battery charging and power supply units of the productline BGL.... are to be applied as IU-W - chargers accordingto DIN 41773 and as power supply units. On chargingoperation the units can be used both for lead-acid as wellas for Ni/Cd batteries. The basic load of consumersconnected in parallel to the battery can be supplied,whereby the remaining current up till the unit´s nominalcurrent serves for charging or trickle charging of thebattery.

Design

The units are delivered as compact modules(degree of protection IP 00) for fixation on amounting plate.The units are equipped with mains transformer,thyristor control, smoothing device and controlcircuitry.

Further advantages are the desirable mounting position, littleneed of space and little loss of heat. The potentiometers
