Officers’ Letter

Thank you for your extraordinary support of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) in 2013. Your

generous commitment to our mission helps provide the resources we need to expand our reach and

increase our impact.

Kids today face numerous challenges and need our collective support more than ever. In addition to

poverty, obesity and a low high school graduation rate, more than 15 million kids are left unsupervised

after school. The Boys & Girls Club Movement tackles these issues every day, but we can’t do it alone.

Thanks to your generosity, we don’t have to. With your help, in 2013, we strengthened our partnership

with the U.S. military in ways that allow us to better serve the kids of America’s heroes. For instance,

we convened the Military Great Think, an executive panel and roundtable that explored ways to

further support military youth and their families. We also held our inaugural Military Youth of the Year

celebration to recognize the youth we proudly serve on U.S. military installations worldwide.

We sharpened our focus on academic success with programming that ensures more kids graduate

from high school on time with a plan for the future. We also saw gains in our other key outcome

areas – healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship – with programs that develop America’s

future leaders.

To ensure delivery of relevant, high-quality programs, we increased our goal-setting and measurement

activities. Last year also saw us dramatically strengthen child safety and protection protocols. Child

safety is, after all, at the forefront of everything we do.

The highlight of 2013 was the launch of the silent phase of the Great Futures Campaign, the

Campaign for America’s Kids. To those of you who have already joined the campaign, thank you for

standing with us in the next evolution of our Movement. This evolution will focus on out-of-school

time – after school and summer – and the critical role that time plays in transforming children’s lives

and improving their chances for a great future.

Your generosity enables us to increase our impact and ensure many positive outcomes for our nation’s

youth. Thank you for your continued support.

Ron Gidwitz James L. ClarkChairman President and CEO

Boys & Girls Clubs of America + 2013 Annual Report

The Boys & Girls Club Movement• The Boys & Girls Club Movement includes more than 1,140 independent organizations and

the national organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

• Local organizations serve youth and communities in more than 4,100 Club locations with

54,000 adult professional staff, 244,000 program volunteers and 25,000 board volunteers.

• Boys & Girls Clubs of America serves local organizations, but does not manage the operations

of individual Clubs. Member organizations are governed locally.

• In 2013, Boys & Girls Club youth development programs, training and services impacted

nearly 4 million young people.

• Of these nearly 4 million children and teens:

• 51% were Club members who participated in daily program and services;

• 49% were non-members from local neighborhoods who participated in community

outreach programs, activities and special events.

Unique Characteristics of Boys & Girls ClubsBoys & Girls Clubs serve small towns, large metropolitan areas, public housing communities, and

Native populations. Club programs and services also enrich the lives of youth in public and private

schools, as well as those who live on U.S. military installations around the world.

Clubs are community-based, building-centered and led by professional staff. They offer youth

development programs, determined by local necessity and available resources, to meet the interests

and needs of young people ages 6-18.

Boys & Girls Clubs provide young people with:• Safe places to play, laugh, discover and learn during the out-of-school time – after school

and summer.

• Life-changing programs that help youth advance in three key outcome areas: Academic

Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

• Opportunities to build new skills so that kids can succeed and receive recognition for personal

accomplishments.

• Ongoing supportive relationships with caring adults and friends that foster a sense of

belonging, responsibility, civility and civic engagement.

How the National Organization Serves Local ClubsIn 1906, 53 local Clubs banded together to establish a national organization. Since then, the national

organization, now known as Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and local Clubs have worked in close

collaboration to help America’s youth reach their full potential.

Through its Atlanta headquarters, regional service centers and Government Relations office in

Washington, D.C., BGCA provides assistance and support to Clubs in youth program development,

board and staff development, organizational planning, resource development, marketing and

communications, and administration and management. Key functions include:

• Developing and testing new programs for youth;

• Assisting Clubs with outcome-based program planning and evaluation;

• Providing comprehensive child safety resources to protect youth and position Boys & Girls

Clubs as catalysts for child protection;

• Helping community leaders establish new Clubs and expand existing ones;

• Providing training experiences, management consultations and resources for staff

development, volunteer recruitment, marketing, fundraising, compensation and

benefits administration;

• Promoting greater public awareness about the Movement’s mission and impact; and

• Addressing legislative and public policy issues affecting young people and the

volunteer sector.

Our No. 1 PriorityAt Boys & Girls Clubs, child safety is our No. 1 priority. For more than 100 years, child protection

and safety have been the bedrock principles of our work. Over the years, BGCA has advocated for

the passage of the U.S. PROTECT Act to enhance background screening systems and access, and

has partnered with the FBI, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the CDC to

improve safety practices on behalf of all youth in America.

5

Page 8: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Every day, 15 million kids (1 in 4) leave school with nowhere to go. They risk being unsupervised, unguided and unsafe.

Boys & Girls Clubs serve nearly 4 million youth every year, providing them with a safe place to go during the out-of-school time.

Page 9: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Boys & Girls Clubs of America + 2013 Annual Report

2013 was an important year for child safety across our Movement. We took a number of vital steps

to advance this foundational element, including historic National Council passage of three new

safety-related membership requirements. The three measures – facilities safety, reporting and

communication, and insurance – were overwhelmingly approved. These measures, combined with

new safety-related resources and a new online Club Safety Assessment, will help our Clubs take

safety to the next level and position our Movement as the leader in child safety in our country.

Creating ValueBoys & Girls Clubs of America is dedicated to helping Clubs fulfill their mission, and therefore creates

value for Clubs to further their success.

In 2013, local Boys & Girls Clubs benefited from the following support:

• $25 million in private sector pass-through funds

• $26 million in federal pass-through funds

• $101 million through state funding initiatives

In total, Clubs received $152 million in funding due to BGCA efforts. Compared to the $6.8 million

received in local Club dues, this equals a 22-to-1 return on investment for local Clubs.

BGCA also created value for Clubs in 2013 through:

• $19 million in equipment, software and services, and the upgrading of technology centers

• $35 million in planned gift expectancies

• $61 million in pro bono media value

The cumulative total of pass-through funding plus the above benefits translates into $268 million of

value, a 39-to-1 return on investment for our local organizations.

Supporting Youth OutcomesFor young people to achieve great futures, they must do well in school, serve their

community, and take responsibility for their well-being. Toward that end, BGCA

provides national programs in three key outcome areas: Academic Success,

Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. We would like to extend

our sincere thanks for the generous support of our 2013 partners and sponsors in

these impact areas, as well as highlight the strategic initiatives that advanced the

Boys & Girls Club Movement.

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation has continued their support of BGCA

initiatives by establishing a multi-year commitment that is funding pilot programs

at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and all throughout the state of Georgia.

This investment has allowed BGCA to make significant progress in the areas

of strengthening local boards, increasing program impact, developing strong

executive leadership, ensuring child and Club safety, and increasing local Club

sustainability.

Longtime supporter Taco Bell Foundation for Teens supported BGCA’s

efforts to reach teens in Clubs through the Keystone Club program. In 2013, the

Foundation sponsored the 46th National Keystone Conference in Atlanta, where

more than 1,800 Club teens discussed issues facing young people and cultivated

their leadership skills.

Toyota Financial Services remained committed to academic success through

its support of Diplomas 2 Degrees, including dedicated Toyota volunteers at

35 program sites across the country. Additionally, Toyota supported the National

Youth of the Year and the Pacific Region Youth of the Year dinners, and provided

48 college-bound teens with scholarships through its Making Life Easier program.

In 2013, Bank of America was a vital partner to BGCA, supporting an update of

the CareerLaunch® curriculum to better prepare youth for great futures. Local

Clubs also benefited from donations and volunteer hours completed by Bank of

America Associates nationwide.

BGCA’s comprehensive health and wellness program, Triple Play, is generously

sponsored by founding partner The Coca-Cola Company and the WellPoint

Foundation. Triple Play has been proven effective in motivating kids to exercise

more and eat healthier food. The program has made 9.2 million connections

with kids since 2005.

The WellPoint Foundation committed a multi-year, multi-million dollar

investment in the Great Futures Campaign to support Triple Play. In 2013 alone,

more than 1.5 million connections were made through Triple Play. In addition,

the WellPoint Foundation committed to serve as a founding partner for National

Military Youth of the Year.

Altria enabled BGCA to provide grants to Clubs to reach more kids, more

often in 2013. These grants helped 20 Clubs focus on increasing the number

of kids they serve, as well as how often members attended. Additionally, Altria

provided six organizations with funding to execute Altria’s Success360º initiative,

preparing youth for success in school, work and life through collaborating with

other organizations and the communities supporting them.

Whirlpool Corporation and its Maytag brand continued support of dependability

in Boys & Girls Clubs by honoring 25 Club professionals, volunteers and members

with the Maytag Dependable Leader Award. The award recognizes Boys & Girls

Club professionals and volunteers who exemplify leadership and dependability

with a $20,000 grant for their Club.

In 2013, digital literacy and media partner Comcast NBCUniversal signed on

to support the rebrand of BGCA’s Club Tech program. The new technology

initiative, called My.Future, will change the way kids experience technology in

the Club and prepare them for success in an ever-evolving digital world.

In 2013, The Wallace Foundation made a transformational gift to Boys & Girls

Clubs of America. Through a multi-year, multi-million dollar investment, the

BGCA Youth Arts Initiative will test new research-based strategies on how to

provide innovative, high-quality arts programming for all youth that stimulates

learning, inspires creativity and encourages self-expression. This targeted

initiative will provide guidelines for how high-quality arts programming can be

implemented in Clubs and other youth development organizations.

10

Page 13: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

In 2013, BGCA forged a partnership with The Walt Disney Company focused

on combating the creativity crisis in America. Through Disney’s support of the

Summer Brain Gain middle-school modules and the five “Big Idea Labs,” Disney

helped foster creative thinking and 21st century skills through project-based

learning and interdisciplinary activities for young people across the country.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s support funded the refresh of the SMART

Girls curriculum, making it more relevant to the important issues girls face

today in their mental, physical and emotional growth. Targeted, gender-based

programming is essential to the development of youth.

Over the past 10 years the Money Matters program, supported by longtime

partner Charles Schwab Foundation, has provided financial education to more

than 500,000 teens. In 2013, teens were given a fun and unique way to engage

in the program through the Money Matters Music Mogul Contest, a hip-hop

contest that resulted in the first-ever financial literacy hip-hop album.

AT&T generously supported BGCA’s dropout prevention program, BE GREAT:

Graduate, which added a 9th grade component in 2013 to increase high school

success and readiness. The partnership also allowed us to launch the Aspire

Mentoring program, which will impact thousands of kids in 15 markets during

its first year.

The generosity of University of Phoenix allowed BE GREAT: Graduate to be

implemented in 10 Clubs. Staff from local campuses aided in this effort by serving

as program volunteers. University of Phoenix also supported the education and

career goals of Boys & Girls Club staff and parents by awarding more than 30

full-tuition scholarships through the Most Inspirational Mom Search and the

Boys & Girls Clubs Scholarship program.

In 2013, longtime partner Deerbrook Charitable Foundation supported

BGCA’s Club Advancement Services division. To provide the best service

possible to Club members, an “Impact Team” established ongoing assessments

to strengthen professional development, board governance, resource

development, financial oversight and leadership operations. The Foundation

also enabled the continuation of the multi-year Advancing Philanthropy

Project, a transformational fundraising effort to help Clubs engage community

members in sustaining the Movement’s long-term efforts. In addition, the

Foundation provided critical disaster relief funding to three Clubs affected by

Hurricane Sandy.

Macy’s generous support for BGCA’s mission and our local Clubs through funds

raised during the annual “Thanks for Sharing” campaign helped to create great

futures for America’s young people.

Through our partnership with JCPenney, BGCA issued a Wake-Up Call in New

York City’s Foley Square to motivate youth to succeed academically in school this

year. Throughout the month of July, JCPenney also invited customers to support

Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide by rounding up their purchases, which resulted in

donations that have supported Clubs serving nearly 100,000 Club members in

more than 50 markets.

In 2013, Ross Stores, a dedicated partner of BGCA for over a decade, helped

Clubs provide homework assistance to more than 12,000 youth at 90 Clubs

through its support of Power Hour. Ross also displayed its commitment to our

youth and Clubs by offering 50 college scholarships, donating to local Clubs

around grand openings of 80 new Ross locations, and logging volunteer hours

through backpack drives and toy drives conducted by its Associates.

The continued support from the UPS Foundation allowed 4,600 Club members

across the country to learn about the importance of safe driving through the UPS

Road Code program.

The ongoing generosity of ConocoPhillips supported BGCA’s dropout

prevention program, BE GREAT: Graduate, impacting more than 3,500 young

people in more than 60 Club organizations. In addition, ConocoPhillips provided

scholarships to Club youth for post-secondary education.

The generosity of Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation provided

pass-through grants to 20 Clubs to refurbish or renovate their spaces in 2013,

resulting in even safer, more vibrant places for children to discover and learn.

The Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation continued its support of BGCA’s

academic success initiatives by funding the Diplomas 2 Degrees college-

readiness program at 10 sites. In addition, Darden provided scholarships through

the Darden Scholars Program to 75 teens and awarded Restaurant Community

Grants to 240 local Clubs.

12

Page 15: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Microsoft donated the Office 365 for Nonprofits software suite to all Boys & Girls

Clubs. As a core part of BGCA’s long-term information technology strategy,

Office 365 for Nonprofits will simplify IT administration, reduce costs and enable

Clubs to focus on what matters most – serving youth. Microsoft also supported

BGCA’s marquee teen event, the Keystone Conference, and the National Youth

of the Year dinner.

In 2013, Fluor Corporation continued its longtime support of military youth

services through resiliency training at the National Keystone Conference. Fluor

also sponsored a Military Teen Summit at the conference, where teens from

U.S. military installations around the world gathered for two days of sessions on

effective communication and resiliency.

A multi-year grant from the Argosy Foundation enabled BGCA to continue

providing instrumental support services to State Alliances, which generate state

funding for Clubs with the primary objective of strengthening and sustaining

Clubs’ ability to drive positive youth outcomes. With Foundation support in 2013,

State Alliances exceeded ambitious fundraising goals, successfully integrating

creative and innovative approaches to forming and expanding relationships with

state entities.

Staples has long supported BGCA’s goal of serving kids who need us most. In

2013, the partnership featured an employee engagement program between

Staples associates and local Clubs. This alignment provided more than $300,000

in grants to Clubs through Staples’ 2 Million & Change initiative. In addition,

local Clubs were the primary beneficiaries of the 2013 Staples Back-to-School

campaign.

As part of its support of BGCA’s Internet and media safety initiative, Sprint again

sponsored the Cyber Safe Futures Campaign during Internet Safety Month

in June. The highly successful digital campaign educated parents on key cyber-

safety topics, while engaging them in a fun and unique way.

The generous support of Sony Electronics Inc. enabled BGCA to launch

the National Photography Program in 200 Boys & Girls Clubs. This program

encourages Club youth to explore and build their skills in photography, digital

arts and self-expression.

The Youth of the Year program, generously sponsored by Tupperware Brands

Corporation, recognizes outstanding young people for service to their Club

and community, academic performance and contributions to their family. Kiana

Knolland, of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas, was named 2013-14

National Youth of the Year.

Gap Inc. continued its long-term partnership with BGCA’s college and career

programs through its support of CareerLaunch™. Thanks in part to Gap Inc., the

CareerLaunch curriculum received a refresh in 2014. Each year, CareerLaunch

helps more than 64,000 teens nationwide prepare for career success.

In the first year of our partnership, generous support from Buffalo Wild Wings

raised more than $1.5 million and helped 12,000 kids join a sports team, learn the

values of sportsmanship and teamwork, and build self-esteem through its ALL

STARS program and Team Up for Kids initiative. Our partnership with Buffalo

Wild Wings also funded coaching education programs for more than 950 Club

staff and volunteers in partnership with the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

The Pacific Youth Foundation continued its support of the Los Angeles Alliance,

which provides guidance and resources to all participating Clubs throughout the

region. The Foundation also provided awards to three Los Angeles-area Clubs for

critical infrastructure improvements. A generous gift toward the national Child

& Club Safety strategy built upon a previous 2012 investment by the Foundation

that is helping strengthen each local organization’s ability to protect its members

and help position the Boys & Girls Club Movement as a national catalyst for

youth protection.

In 2013, the partnership between the Professional Golf Association and BGCA

reached 10,330 youth through PGA Sports Academy. Clubs received golf

training equipment and instructional support from PGA professionals to help

youth build character, develop healthy lifestyles and learn the game of golf.

CA Technologies continued its commitment to making a difference in the

lives of young women, hosting Tech Girls Rock workshops at Clubs across

the country. The initiative encourages girls to explore technology-related

opportunities and careers.

14

Page 17: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Best Buy Children’s Foundation continues to support BGCA’s efforts to create

technology-rich environments in Clubs, with Best Buy Teen Tech Centers at

Clubs in four cities. The Tech Centers provide opportunities for teens to explore

their passions in technology and inspire future education and career choices.

Thanks to the continued support of Major League Baseball, young people

are developing their character while increasing their knowledge of sports and

fitness through BGCA’s WANNA PLAY™, RBI and Jr. RBI programs. Additionally,

numerous Club youth, including BGCA’s National and Military Youth of the Year,

participated in the 84th All-Star Game in New York and the 109th World Series.

In 2013, the Citi Foundation partnered with BGCA to build the infrastructure

for a new service learning program called Million Members, Million Hours of

Service. The goal of the initiative is to increase the number of Club members

involved in community service and service learning projects by 25 percent, with

an ultimate vision of 1 million Club members performing more than 1 million

hours of service in a single year by 2018.

Bon-Ton enhanced its 10-year partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America

in 2013. During the holiday season, Bon-Ton Stores provided generous support

by hiring hundreds of Club kids, providing real-time job-application, while raising

funds in store through a customer donation and coupon campaign. Club alumnus

Mario Lopez starred as the face of the campaign and helped drive much success.

Generous SupportIt Just Takes OneThe annual campaign initiative It Just Takes One started in 2005, with one generous donation from a

great friend of BGCA’s, the Clark Family, through their Penzance Foundation. Since that time, Clubs

that participate in It Just Takes One have raised some $519.9 million to provide programs and services

that increase the impact on young people nationwide. We are pleased to report that in 2013 more

than 600 Clubs continue to use this strategy to support the Boys & Girls Club mission.

Advancing Philanthropy ProjectIn 2013, the Advancing Philanthropy Project, funded by the Clark Family’s Deerbrook Charitable Trust,

began to take shape. Some 87 Club organizations participated in the first full year of BGCA’s initiative

to help Clubs take fundraising to the next level. Of the 87 pilot organizations that participated, 28

secured gifts totaling $11,194,096.10, which will allow their Clubs to serve more young people with

greater impact. The transformational gift from the Deerbrook Charitable Trust will allow BGCA to

support some 500 organizations in shaping a new culture of philanthropy by infusing a major gift

strategy into local Clubs’ resource development plans.

Planned GivingIn 2013, BGCA continued to provide services to help Clubs recognize, secure and close planned gifts.

More than 175 gifts with an estimated expectancy of $35.6 million were documented. Since 2003,

when BGCA began assisting with planned giving, Clubs have secured more than $203.6 million in

planned giving expectancies.

Individual Giving Recognition SocietiesBGCA’s three national recognition societies provide a way for local Clubs to thank and honor

individual donors who make an impact on children’s lives.

The Jeremiah Milbank SocietyThis society acknowledges generous individuals who donate unrestricted gifts of $10,000 or more to

a local Club. In 2013, a total of 1,880 such donors were recognized. Members collectively contributed

$50.6 million to Clubs in 2013, the largest amount to date. Of note, 66 percent of individuals in the

2013 society were previous members.

The Heritage ClubThis national deferred giving society recognizes individuals who have named BGCA or a local Club

in their estate plan. In 2013, BGCA recognized 2,696 members of 229 Heritage Clubs. Both the

number of participating Clubs and number of members increased from 2012.

16

Page 19: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Boys & Girls Clubs of America + 2013 Annual Report

The Lifetime Giving SocietyThis national recognition society honors donors who show a deep commitment to Boys & Girls

Clubs through significant contributions during their lifetime. Recognition begins when an individual’s

cumulative gifts total $250,000. In 2013, this society grew to 70 Clubs (25 percent increase)

recognizing a total of 264 members (31.3 percent increase), a significant increase in both the number

of participating Clubs and the number of members.

Critical Government SupportFederal GrantsBGCA’s strong relationship with the Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency

Prevention (OJJDP) dates back to 1991. During that time, OJJDP has been our single largest supporter,

awarding hundreds of millions of dollars to help support Clubs and providing opportunities for

thousands of youth to be part of an organization that encourages growth and responsibility. In 2013,

OJJDP awarded $22.2 million to BGCA to support youth at local Clubs.

Since 1996, the federal government has awarded more than $1 billion to BGCA. In the future, we

will place more emphasis on obtaining federal competitive grant funding for activities that benefit

our youth and supplement Club programs. Securing competitive federal grants is a growing area of

specialization that requires extraordinary preparation and execution. Efforts are underway to establish

a BGCA Grants Center, dedicated to reviewing and evaluating specific federal grant opportunities,

aligning those opportunities with complementary Club programs, and providing the expertise

needed to engage and win funding opportunities.

State AlliancesBGCA recognizes 48 formal State Alliances. These alliances influence legislative and regulatory

issues affecting our Club youth, and secure funds from states and their agencies. In 2013, BGCA

helped secure more than $100 million through State Alliances. Since the initiative’s inception, total

funds raised exceed $880 million.

Local Government Funding InitiativeBGCA is also focused on helping Clubs secure funds from local government sources, such as county

and city municipalities. We work closely with Clubs to establish critical local partnerships that bring

unique opportunities to communities. Funds realized under this initiative go directly to Clubs to

supplement local Club activities for youth.

17

Page 20: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Marketing and Awareness EffortsA Winning Wake-Up CallOn Aug. 1, BGCA kicked off its annual Tools-for-Back-to-School campaign with the third annual Wake-

Up Call advocacy event. The event generated significant media coverage, including interviews with

event spokespeople and former Club members Shaquille O’Neal and his mother, Lucille O’Neal, on

“Good Morning America” and MSNBC. The Tools-for-Back-to-School campaign garnered a MarCom

Gold Award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

National Boys & Girls Club WeekNational Boys & Girls Club Week celebrates the many ways Clubs help start great futures for young

people. In 2013, fun activities across the country and in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military

installations around the world brought kids, staff, parents and community members together to

experience some of the magic that happens in Clubs every day. As part of these festivities, more than

8,000 Club youth, staff and volunteers participated in a Guinness World Record attempt for the most

participants exercising to a fitness video within 24 hours at multiple venues.

Day for Kids On Sept. 7, BGCA kicked off its Day for Kids celebrations with a mega-field day in Atlanta, where

hundreds of adults were invited to relive their childhoods for the day and participate in nostalgic

games to raise awareness and funds in support of youth most in need. Following the star-studded

Atlanta event, additional local and regional Day for Kids events took place around the country

throughout the month of September.

Great Futures Week In September 2013, we raised the profile of our National Youth of the Year program with a week-

long celebration – Great Futures Week – in Washington, D.C. The week featured a series of historic

firsts that grew out of our important 22-year partnership with the U.S. Armed Services. Events kicked

off with the Military Great Think, our inaugural executive panel and roundtable that explored ways

we as a nation can better support military youth and their families. We also selected the first Military

Youth of the Year, RaShaan Allen of Devers Youth Center in Fort Knox, Ky. Later that week, at the

Congressional Breakfast, Kiana Knolland, of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas, was named

2013-14 National Youth of the Year.

18

Page 21: BGCA 2013 Annual Report

Following Great Futures Week, BGCA released the Military Great Think White Paper, a report

summarizing key insights from the roundtable, as well as strategic recommendations and action steps

for immediately improving access to vital programs and services for the children and families of our

American military heroes. BGCA supports military young people in affiliated Youth Centers on U.S.

military installations around the world, and provides support for youth who live off-installation. In 2013,

this important partnership with the Armed Services provided staff training, targeted programs and

direct support for 456,000 young people from military families.

Native Youth ServicesIn 2013, BGCA furthered its commitment to Native youth with the creation of the Native Youth

Services Unit. BGCA has partnered with Native communities across the country for more than two

decades. In 2013, we reached more than 86,000 young people at 194 Clubs in 24 states. Clubs serve

Native youth in their communities and on reservations, providing targeted programs to help them do

well in school, focus on their overall health and give back to their communities.

In conjunction with Native American Heritage Month, in November 2013 the Native Youth Services

Unit hosted the Native Summit, Great Futures in Indian Country, which drew more than 180

participants.

Awards and Honors Outstanding ServiceIn 2013, BGCA recognized several wonderful individuals and organizations for their extraordinary

support of Clubs and kids.

In recognition of their ongoing dedication to the youth of our nation, Claude Grizzard, Bank of

America Foundation and the Charles Schwab Foundation received Champion of Youth awards.
