Vocabulary Impacts Reading Development§ Vocabulary size makes a positive contribution
to reading comprehension. (Nagy, 2005)
§ The absence of either word recognition or adequate vocabulary ensures a low level of reading comprehension. (Biemiller, 2005)
§ First-grade orally tested vocabulary was predictive of eleventh-grade reading comprehension, whereas first-grade word recognition skills were not. (Cunningham and Stanovich, 1997)
