• Year 1– Focus on Local and State Government.– Youth engagement with other Counties.– More citizenship projects/engagement.

• Year 2– Deepens the communications area.– Expands understanding of
Federal Government. – Builds leadership skills in
students involved on the
planning team.
8. How Do We Pay For It?
• How do counties validate the extra staff time and cost?
• How do families pay?– Structured payment system – Fundraising/donations – Foundation sponsorships– Extension Council support

• Brings the program to the county.
• Builds awareness with people in the local community.

• Spontaneous changes happen every year.
• A good bus driver is important.
• Understanding the limitations of DC.
2. Why Regionally?
• Program started in two counties for the first 4 years.
• Expanded to Tri-County in 5th year.
• Now expanding beyond the region– Welcome Mitchell County-would you like to
join us? I promise we are fun.
1. It is FUN!!
• Parents regularly say this is one of the best experiences that our child has participated in.
• At a recent County Council retreat one of the members shared that it was a highlight in his 4-H career.
