BEWell Champions

DO YOU HAVE THE DRIVE OF A CHAMPION?October is the month of RECRUITMENT in Virginia Beach City and Public Schools!

You’ll make a great BEWell Champion if you are…

• Fired up about your own health and love to help others improve theirs• Already encouraging fellow workers to join BEWell’s wellness program• Taking part in or leading wellness programs and meetings at your si te

Ready to get started? Visi t BEWell online to see if your worksi te needs representation, review the expectations and complete the application. As an extra incentive, Champions can earn Virgin Pulse points!

Since working in a new depar tment with new coworkers, I f ind Virgin Pulse as a way to constantly challenge myself. Whether it be through challenges, or just the top 10 list I

f ind myself wanting to f inish as high as possible.

-Roxana Ebert, City of Virginia Beach

I check the number of steps most every night. If the number is low, I take time to walk about 1.5 miles in the community while helping to rid the community of litter. I feel better

as I’m being more active and I’m helping my community.

-Dennis Southers, City of Virginia Beach

I’ve become more active and more conscious about what I eat and making sure I get my steps in everyday. I star ted doing 5k and 1 mile walk/run races. I’m happy to exercise. It’s a fun activity and I’ve even motivated my spouse to exercise! We are

both counting steps and are even competitive about it at the end of the day!

-Benita Harrison , City of Virginia Beach

Champions around Virginia Beach City and Schools are getting staff up and moving! Who said musculoskeletal pain?! Not in Quarter 3! There were three Champions that motivated employees to MOVE and STRETCH throughout the workday. Staff at these sites dedicated time to independently stretch or stretched together as a group. The feedback repor ted was phenomenal! Employees stated that it allowed them to relax their minds, gave their eyes a break from the computer, stretched their muscles and felt less tension. Overall, they felt better about themselves throughout their workday. These Champions deserve a BIG round of applause!
