Utilizes technical skills in fact-finding and investigating, oral and written communications, customer service and problem solving to handle processing and retirement account reconciliations in the Retirement section of the National Finance Center.
Separates documents and reviews for accuracy and completeness by comparing to applicant’s retirement data in government payroll/personnel system.
Contact agency personnel offices regarding any incomplete or inaccurate documents. Meticulously reconciles retirement account errors for employees under Federal Erroneous Retirement
Coverage Correction Act (FERCCA), then applies debit or credit entries to general ledger account, journals and subsidiary accounts.
Examines, researches and analyzes computer produced or manually prepared documentation from FERCCA package (containing multiple forms, W-2s, way and tax statements) in order to determine exact amount of monthly retirement benefits for each applicant.
When discrepancies between applicant’s paperwork and data in government payroll/personnel system appear, performs Applied Research Methods using Microfiche, facsimiles, and electronic spreadsheets to access and process corrections and make adjusting entries.
Utilizes multiple computer systems daily, including Special Payroll Processing System (SPPS), Retirement Processing System (RETM), Information Research Inquiry System (IRIS) and Payroll/Personnel Inquiry System (PINQ).
