The Ark of the Covenant: Exodus 25:10-22, Exodus 37:6-9
These scriptures give a description of how the artisan was to craft the Ark according to the
word of the LORD to Moses.
The Ark (Exodus 25:10-17)
"And they shall make an ARK of acacia wood; two and a half cubits shall be its length, a cubit and a
half its width, and a cubit and a half its height. And you shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and shall make on it a molding of gold all around. You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four corners; two rings shall be on one side, and two rings on the other side.
And you shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. You shall put the poles into the
rings on the sides of the ARK, that the ARK may be carried by them. The poles shall be in the rings of
the ARK; they shall not be taken from it. And you shall put into the ARK the Testimony which I will
give you. You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; two and a half cubits shall be its length and a
cubit and a half its width.

The ARK is a reminder to us that we are in covenant (a binding relationship, yoked, swear an
oath) with God. (Elohim – our Creator)
The Ark was the most sacred object to the Israelites
The Ark was called God’s throne on the Earth
The Ark was the center of their worship
The Ark was in the Most Holy Place
Cherubim were the Ark’s guardians
Exodus 25: 18-22
The Cherubim (plural for Cherub)
And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them at the two ends of
the mercy seat. Make one cherub at one end, and the other cherub at the other end; you shall make
the cherubim at the two ends of it of one piece with the mercy seat. And the cherubim shall stretch
out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and they shall face one another; the
faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat. You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark,
and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I
will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark
of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel."
The Cherubim:
are the guardians that surround God’s throne – the place where God dwells
they cover and protect
they are part of the host (angelic beings) of heaven
one who is near to God, ministers to him
The face of the Cherubim were to look down onto the Mercy Seat (Exodus 25:20), as their
wings stretched out to; cover, protect & guard.
As we take a look at the scripture in (1Kings 6:23-28), we come into an understanding that
Solomon had a revelation that these created beings were guardians of the throne of Elohim.
We see that a cubit is 18” and it says in v. 24 that each
wing on the Cherubim is 5 cubits and the height of each
one was 10 cubits (over 10 feet high), which shows us
that they were huge!
The law of 1st mention: Genesis 3:34 Cherubim
were at the entrance of the garden with flaming
swords and man no longer had access to the tree
of life
A description of the Cherubim can be found in (Ezekiel chapter 10) – refer to the
image at the top of page 1 (all 4 faces together in Hebrew thought symbolize wisdom
& power)
Ezekiel 28, the King of Tyre (a type of Satan), a Cherub
A cubit was the measurement
from our elbow to our finger tips
which, is approximately 18”

As guardians of Eden As flanking God's throne As an image form hovering over the Ark of the Covenant
God (Elohim) communes with his people, he speaks and meets with us from between the
Cherubim.
Now when Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice
of One speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony,
from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him. Numbers 7:89
EL, ELOHIM STRONG’S: (H) #430 ELOHIYM

Rulers, judges Divine ones Gods The (true) God
When taking a look at the ancient Hebrew pictographs: The Shepherds staff and an Ox
represent the word Elohim
Ox=strength Shepherd Staff=authority, one of great strength, strong authority, mighty,
powerful
The God of the Hebrews was seen as the older ox that is yoked to his people in a covenant
(swear) relationship.
To swear: placing one-self in a binding agreement to a course of action

Between the Cherubim Between the Cherubim is a place
The place of God’s presence
The place where God speaks to us
The place where we commune with our Creator God (Elohim)
The place of the Shekinah Glory of God, his manifest presence
We can visit the place where God dwells or we can become a habitation where his glory
dwells. It is a choice that is up to us because God gave us a free will. Do we press on to the
high call or do we not? It is totally up to us to yield it all to Him.
Beloved, to move into that place Between the Cherubim we must enter a higher realm.
Our worship must focus on our Creator (EL), the LORD of Hosts (Elohim Sabaoth) which
usher in His presence…He inhabits our praises.
What is the higher realm?
The unseen realm
The unlimited realm
This song (psalm) which is Psalm 80 speaks of our struggles to get to that level, the realm
where God dwells…Between the Cherubim. Start your journey afresh today. God will
meet you Between the Cherubim…
