PROJECT RATIONALE

1. The Important of ornamental fish in the world market.

2. The problem of small scale fishermen in Phuket Province.

2.1 Limitation of coastal fishery resources.2.2 Lack of investment capital.2.3 Lack of bargaining power at the market.2.4 Lack of infrastructure and public utilities.2.5 Lack of alternative sources of income.

Target Production: To produce 10,000 fish of bettas atthe end of one cycle/100,000 fish a year.

Project Objectives:

To provide the small scale fishermen withalternative sources of income by introducing

the betta fish farm

Bottle of varying size are required for culture. The volume of thebottle ranges 0.75 – 2.50 Liters

3. Chemical SubstancesMethylene Blue, Methylene Yellow, Ampicilin, Vitamins, Potassiumpermanganate, Copper sulphate, Sodium Chloride, etc may be used forpreventing / treating diseases.

4. Fish FeedFry fed mainly with pellets, Mosquito larvae and Blood worms.

5. Aeration equipmentsA small air pump with small tubes will be used for aeration.
