Students must return from lunch on time, otherwise their open lunch privilege will be taken away
The school cafeteria is open and serves a variety of hot and cold food items
Clubs and teams meet in classrooms
Teachers meet with students in classrooms

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Arrive at class on time, every day. If you must miss class, turn in a note signed by your parent or guardian with your name, student i.d. and the reason and date(s) you missed. Notes must be received by Attendance Secretary in the attendance office within 3 days of the absence.
Students with 3 unexcused absences will talk with their classroom teacher.
Students with 5 unexcused absences in a class will complete MCPS Form 560-26a and have the opportunity to restore credit. Continued failure to attend or failure to fulfill contract can result in course failure, regardless of course grade.
Unexcused tardies will be recorded and 3 unexcused tardieswill equal 1 unexcused absence
This applies to both written work and oral presentations – no cheating or plagiarism
PLAGIARISM – submitting or presenting another person’s work as your own without proper documentation, including downloaded information from the internet and lab data
CHEATING – Giving or receiving information before, during and after a test, quick and/or class work assignment. Using unauthorized materials during a test or quiz; using a cell phone to distribute copies of the assessment.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY CONTINUED
• If a teacher determines that a student engaged in academic
dishonesty, the teacher may assign a zero.
• Teachers will also submit a referral to the grade level administrator
and contact a parent for cases of academic dishonesty.
• Students can be suspended for tampering with, or assisting another
to tamper with, the MCPS computer network or exams.
CELL PHONE POLICY
• Students can use cell phones before school, during lunch, in between classes and
after school.
• Please don’t text and call your child during class time.
• Cell phones are prohibited during class time unless otherwise directed by the
teacher. Students should not have to be repeatedly asked to put away their cell phones
during class. This is a major disruption to the learning environment and constitutes
defiance.
• There are consequences for defiance. (example: detention, loss of privilege, parent contact, and
confiscation of cell phone for the day or until a parent picks it up from the security office).
Students are responsible for knowing the classroom rules for cell phone use.
GENERAL POLICY REMINDERS
Every student, gr. 9 -11 will be assigned a locker and combination. Students can carry backpacks in high school.
Students must dress in ways that are school appropriate. Clothing should not disrupt the learning environment.
Students will receive an agenda book in 2nd period once they arrive. Our PTSA pays for all students to receive the agenda book. All policies are outlined in the opening pages of the agenda book. Please review these pages with your child at home after the first day of school.
Hall passes are also included in the agenda book.
