Call to Worship #242 Love Came Down at Christmas GARTAN
Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, Love divine;
Love was born at Christmas; star and angels gave the sign. Love shall be our token; love be yours and love be mine; Love to God and neighbor, love for plea and gift and sign.
Opening Prayer
*Opening Hymn #254 We Three Kings KINGS OF ORIENT
*Expression of Faith:
We believe in God, creator of the world and of all people; and in Jesus Christ, incarnate among us, who died and rose again; and in the Holy Spirit, present with us to guide, strengthen, and comfort. We rejoice in every sign of God's kingdom: in the upholding of human dignity and community; in every expression of love, justice, and reconciliation; in each act of self-giving on behalf of others; in the abundance of God's gifts entrusted to us that all may have enough; in all responsible use of the earth's resources. We confess our sin, individual and collective, by silence or action: through the violation of human dignity based on race, class, age, sex, nation, or faith; through the exploitation of people because of greed and indifference; through the misuse of power in personal, communal, national, and international life; through the search for security by those military and economic forces that threaten human existence; through the abuse of technology which endangers the earth and all life upon it. We commit ourselves individually and as a community to the way of Christ; to take up the cross; to seek abundant life for all humanity; to struggle for peace with justice and freedom; to risk ourselves in faith, hope, and love,
praying that God's kingdom may come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Nat is a native of Winnsboro, and attended high school in the District of Columbia. He is currently a sophomore at Wofford, where he is studying French—perhaps with a double major or minor in accounting. In Spartanburg he has recently taken up playing the carillon at a local Episcopal church. He spends much of the summer working on the family farm, and enjoys doing genealogical research. He has published one article in the journal of the Piedmont
Historical Society. His father, Brian, is a real-estate agent, and his mother, Kathleen, is a government contractor. He has a younger brother, Elliott, and is a member of First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro.
"If you will walk in my statutes, obey my ordinances, and keep all my commandments by walking in them, then I will establish my promise with you...I will dwell among the children
of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.” 1 Kings 6:12-13

(v. 1, 4, & 7)
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.
Amen.
Anthem The Jesus Gift Martin Soloist—Jason Barrs Shall I gather emeralds, shall I bring him gold? Shall I shower diamonds, white hard, bright cold? Shall I spangle jewels like stars above? Give him laughter, bring peace-filled laughter, offer him warm laughter and love. Shall we gather emeralds, shall we bring him gold? Shall we gather diamonds, white hard, bright cold? Shall we spangle jewels like stars above? Give him laughter, bring peace-filled laughter, offer him warm laughter and love. Simplest of gifts, gentlest of hearts; kindness he’ll use as he leads. So, give him these gifts, hand him your hearts, honor his birth and you’ll need no Emeralds nor rubies, silver nor gold; neither bright diamonds, white hard, bright cold. Spangle not rich jewels like stars above; You’ll have laughter, sweet peace-filled laughter, simple warm laughter and love.
