INTRODUCTION

In recent years, there has been growing concern over highway traffic noise and its effects on

surrounding households. Studies have shown that some of the most pervasive sources of

noise in our environment today are those associated with transportation. Traffic noise tends

to be a dominant noise source in our urban as well as rural environment. Noise pollution

affects our mental and physical well being.

In response to this growing concern, Beta Shield (M) Sdn Bhd undertakes the effort to provide

effective noise shielding to dwellings and ensure living comfort. Beta Shield Sdn Bhd

specializes in providing turnkey solutions for your traffic noise problems. Technical details are

thoroughly examined by in house acoustic engineers to ensure effectiveness of noise barrier

design.


COMPANY BACKGROUND

Beta Shield (M) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in Year 2002 presenting a solid team in terms of

providing wholesome solutions for noise barriers. Our team members, prior to the formation of

Beta Shield (M) Sdn Bhd, have been working in various projects as specialist installers, noise

consultant as well as manufacturer.

Beta Shield (M) Sdn Bhd has vast experienced in design, installation and construction of noise

barrier wall via prior involvement of the team in their prior involvements.

Beta Shield (M) Sdn Bhd places the utmost importance on the quality and the effectiveness

of our noise barrier wall as well as the service provided. To achieve our aim, the company

gathered a pool of personnel with vast experience in noise barrier design, installation and

construction.

Beta Sound Barrier are designed and built to suite various site conditions. The barriers can be

custom made to different heights depends on site requirements.

R&D Efforts

Our extended range of acoustical blocks (absorptive and diffusive) provide useful alternative

for barrier designer to achieve pleasant visual effect on top of the functional requirements.

Beta CMU Blocks Sound Barriers are developed jointly with Zenbes Sdn Bhd to ensure best of

quality not only acoustically but fit for construction purpose.

Zenbes CMU block are known to be the only blocks that are produced, tested and certified

locally.

Acoustically (Sound Transmission Coefficient and Noise Reduction Coefficient) properties of

our Absorptive and Diffusive blocks are tested in Acoustic Laboratory, FPSU, Universiti

Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia.

Other than the series of acoustic tests undertaken, Zenbes CMU blocks are tested for

a. BS476-3 (Fire tests on building materials and structures. Methods for determination

of the fire resistance of loadbearing elements of construction) ensuring the

product meeting specific UBBL requirement; and

b. BS 6073-2:1981 (Precast concrete masonry units. Method for specifying precast

concrete masonry units). This standard ensures our products have consistent

construction materials, dimensions, size, compressive strength, dimensional

coordination, shape, quality control, compression testing and density

measurement

Absorptive CMU Blocks

Beta CMU Absorptive CMU Blocks is a specially designed element with an enclosed volume

of air which is connected to a short, open neck tuned to provide maximum absorption at a

particular frequency.

The Noise Reduction Coefficient for our absorptive CMU Blocks was measured at 0.30 under

bare block condition (without any rockwool or fibreglass infill).

Beta Helmholtz Resonator is particularly useful when spaces are affected by noise of a

narrow frequency bands.

The fair face CMU blocks have distinct sound transmission class of up to STC 46.

Diffusive CMU Blocks

Beta CMU Diffusive Elements is a specially designed module with a random surface terrain

which tested to have acoustical capacity in term of noise reduction coefficient.

The Noise Reduction Coefficient for our diffusive CMU Blocks was measured at 0.23 under

bare block condition (without any rockwool or fibreglass infill).

Beta Diffusive Elements is particularly useful when spaces are affected by noise of a broad

frequency bands (eg vehicular noise).
