Beta ClubWelcome New Invitees
You’ve Been Invited Because…
▪ You a sophomore with a GPA of 4.0 or higher.
▪You are a junior with a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
What is Beta Club?
▪Mission: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary students.
▪Started in Spartanburg, SC in 1934
▪Motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others

How Do You Maintain Membership?
▪Keep your GPA up▪4.0 for Sophomores
▪3.75 for Juniors & Seniors
▪Attend Meetings▪First Monday of each month
▪At 7:50, 9:50, or 3:40 in the library
▪Do your Service Hours▪ Induction semester- 2 in-club hours, 2 out-of-club hours
▪Rest of the semesters: 3 in-club hours, 5 out-of-club hours
Service Hours▪ Be specific, include details and dates.▪ Hours spent in Key, Leo and Avid community service
may also be used for Beta hours. ▪ For in or out of club hours, you must have a signature
from an adult in charge of the event. Parents cannot sign for a service project.
▪ Athletic training may count for up to 2 out-of-club hours per semester.
▪ Do not include activities performed for immediate family members; example- free babysitting.
▪ Many of the in-club projects are FREE.
Membership Dues
▪$25 ($15 for the national chapter and $10 for the local club) due September 25th.
▪National dues are one time only.
Induction Ceremony▪ Tuesday, October 19th @ 6:00 in the Commons
Area.
▪ Inductees meet in the library no later than 5:15.
▪Proper dress required- look your best. No jeans. Ties are encouraged for young men. All outfits must meet the District Five Dress Code.
▪Cake will be served after the ceremony.
Constitution Highlights▪If you miss two or more meetings per
semester, you are placed on probation. ▪If you do not turn your service hours in, you
are placed on probation. ▪If you miss too many meetings AND don’t
turn in your service hours, you are dismissed without probation.
▪The semester following probation, if you attend the meetings and turn in service hours, then you are off probation. If you don’t then you are dismissed.
Constitution Continued
▪If you receive ISS, probation is given.▪If you receive OSS, you are dismissed.▪Members can also be dismissed for any
unbecoming behavior, on or off campus. ▪Involvement in any act of dishonesty will
result in a member being permanently dismissed from the club.
Reminders:
▪Return signed contract and dues by October 9th.
▪Meetings are on the 1st Monday of the each month.
