Dr. Yeap graduated with an MBBS degree from the University of Singapore. He beganhis surgical career immediately after housemanship and gained valuable experienceswhen doing rotational postings in various surgical disciplines.

Dr. Yeap was subsequently awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeonsof Edinburgh (FRCS) in 1980 in Plastic Surgery. He then returned to Singapore andstarted his intensive training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery in theDepartment of Plastic Surgery, Singapore General Hospital before leaving Singaporeagain for another Government Scholarship for Advanced Plastic Surgery Training inthe United States of America for a year. In 1984 he became a Fellow of PlasticSurgery in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr. Yeap served in the Department of Plastic Surgery as a Plastic Surgeon and laterrose to the position of Deputy Chief of the Department of Plastic Surgery, SingaporeGeneral Hospital in 1986. In that same year, Dr. Yeap left Singapore General Hospitalto begin his private practice in Yeap Plastic Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery inthe Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.

Outside of work, Dr. Yeap makes time to serve several committees. Dr. Yeap helpscharities by providing the latest hi-tech innovations in the field of cosmetic surgery,and is always there for assistance when needed. Dr. Leslie Kuek obtained his advanced surgery degrees from the Royal Colleges ofEdinburgh & Glasgow in 1986. In 1989, he won the young surgeon’s award for bestscientific research. He further advanced his skills in plastic surgery training at theDepartment of Plastic Surgery, University of Tokyo, Japan & Taipei Chang GungHospital, Taiwan. He worked in the department of Plastic Surgery in SingaporeGeneral Hospital from 1986 till 1995 before he began his own private practice at theGleneagles Medical Centre.

Dr. Leslie Kuek is a pioneer in the development of Plastic Surgery in Singapore. Hewas instrumental in starting the Breast Reconstruction division & Facial ParalysisReconstruction in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Singapore General Hospital,where he continues to hold the position of Visiting Consultant. He was also a clinicalteacher and lecturer in Plastic Surgery to trainee medical students and nurses.

As a senior member of the Plastic Surgery community, Dr. Leslie Kuek is much soughtafter by TV and Radio Media, as well as local and foreign magazines and newspapersfor his views and ideas pertaining to issues in Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery. • Cosmetic Surgery, also known as Aesthetic Surgery, is a specialized branch of Plastic Surgery, which traces its roots to reconstructive Plastic Surgery, and is performed to improve a person’s appearance and self-confidence by reshaping or rejuvenating facial and body features.

Dr. Ivor Lim received his undergraduate medical training at Cambridge University and St ThomasísHospital, London where he was first exposed to and developed and interest in Plastic Surgery.

He returned to Singapore for postgraduate surgical training and was admitted as a Fellow of the RoyalCollege of Surgeons of Edinburgh as well as the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. In the same yearhe obtained the Master of Medicine (Surgery) degree at the National University of Singapore, and wasawarded the Yahya Cohen Gold Medal for being the best candidate in the Clinical Exam.

He received his Plastic Surgery training in Singapore and went to London for his advanced Plastic SurgeryFellowship on the prestigious Pan Thames Plastic Surgical rotation.

He is the first and only Singapore trained Plastic Surgeon to receive the FRCS (Plastic Surgery) qualificationfrom the Intercollegiate Specialty Boards of the United Kingdom, and was awarded the Ian MacGregorGold Medal by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine,Singapore and is Exit Certified both in Plastic Surgery as well as in Hand Surgery by the Specialist TrainingCommittee of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

In his academic career, he served on faculty in the Department of Surgery, National University of Singaporeuntil 2005. He continues his association with the University as adjunct Associate Professor in Surgery.

Dr. Lim has lectured extensively on many aspects of Plastic Surgery both in Singapore and Internationally.He remains active in research and is the only Singaporean Full Active Member of the North AmericanPlastic Surgery Research Council. He was the first Singaporean to receive the Saleh M. Shenaq InternationalResearch Award by the Plastic Surgery Research Council for his work on keloid scar biology in 2001.His current research interests are in scar pathobiology, clinical applications for umbilical cord lining derivedstem cells, and in effective transdermal delivery systems for skin treatment, anti-aging and rejuvenation.

In addition to directing the Skin Cell Research Group at the National University of Singapore, he hasinternational collaborations for research, reviews grants both locally and internationally, and is a peerreviewer for local and international scientific and clinical journals.

Dr. Lim is a member of the Singapore Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Singapore Society of Cosmetic(Aesthetic) Plastic Surgeons, the Singapore Hand Surgery Society, and the British Association of PlasticSurgeons. Aside from being a former national ten-pin bowler and snooker player, Dr. Wu also maintainsa keen interest in the arts.
