Cameron in Berwick, Louisiana Gateway to the Gulf of Mexico

  • I n a part of the world best known for crawfish and Cajun traditions sits a world-class subsea drilling and production new manufacturing and aftermarket facility which has played a key role in large-scale oil

and gas projects from the Gulf of Mexico to Angola

    and Canada.

Camerons Subsea Systems divisions facility in

Berwick, La., is the gateway to some of the largest subsea

oil and gas production systems ever installed. Here,

adjacent to the Bayou Teche waterway, carbon steel

and corrosive-resistant products are welded, assembled,

coated and tested. Finally, comprehensive system

integration testing (SIT) is performed and large subsea

systems are loaded onto barges destined for locations

all over the world. During such tests, complete subsea

systems are laid out as they would on the ocean floor.

Manifolds, Christmas trees, jumpers, controls components,

connectors, flying leads, pipeline end terminations and

many other components are assembled in the Berwick

yard so every phase of integration testing can be

performed to assure project interface during installation

    and operation in the field.

Camerons Berwick facility sits on 21.5 acres of land

and offers complete new manufacturing of subsea drilling,

production and completion equipment, in addition to

aftermarket repair and reconditioning. The facility is

uniquely qualified to handle large-scale equipment such

as Christmas trees, manifolds and BOP stacks. In addition,

it also offers project services such as engineering, business

    planning and project management.

The facility opened in 1974 and was used primarily

for the assembly of BOP stacks until the early 1990s when

the first subsea production manifold was assembled at the

plant. Since then, the facility has seen continuous growth.

The facility is undergoing an expansion project, which

will add more than 42 acres to the Berwick facility site.

Initially, the project will designate additional areas for

material storage and customer property storage.

The master plan for the expansion on the

property allots an additional 140,000 sq ft

    for future operations and

    manufacturing facilities.
