The difference in the data transmission speed as shown on the previous page, is not an issue due to the fact that:
When data are sent by ACARS using VHF Data Radio the transmission speed is 2.4 KBPSWhen data are sent by ACARS using HF Data Radio the maximum transmission speed is 1.8 KBPSWhen the « ACARS Ground Stations » process the downlink message, they communicate between them at a speed of 2.4 KBPS during message recomposition before delivery to the end user.
Conclusion:The high data transmission speed available through the INMARSAT network does not provide any advantage when data are transmitted by ACARS.
