The Bentec Soft Torque Rotary System (STRS)

MK III is a self adjusting system with incorporated

vibration analyser for optimal drilling parameters.

It is designed to dampen drill string torsional

vibrations. It differs from previous systems in its

operation and tuning procedure being based on a

mathematical model of the entire rotary system.

This warrants optimum damping performance

under all conditions.

In addition the system features microprocessor-

assisted adjustment, providing great ease of

handling. No inputs from the driller to be done.

Switch it on and the system does its work.

The STRS-Output-Signal modifies the electronic

speed control of the drive. The output-Signal is

precisely calculated taking into account behaviour

and conditions of drill string and drive system

dynamics. These set parameters, result in signifi-

cant reduction of torque fluctuations, torsional drill

string vibrations and stick slip behaviour.

The system can be easily installed as it does not

require any additional sensors.

For existing Soft Torque Rotary Systems MK II an

upgrade kit is available.
