A. All documents transmitted for purposes of administration of the contract are to be in electronic(PDF) format.

1. This procedure applies to requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, informationsubmittals, field reports, meeting minutes, and any other document any participant wishesto make part of the project record.

3.04 CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS SCHEDULE - SEE SECTION 013216A. If preliminary schedule requires revision after review, submit revised schedule within 10 days.

B. Within 20 days after review of preliminary schedule, submit draft of proposed completeschedule for review.

1. Include written certification that major contractors have reviewed and accepted proposedschedule.

C. Within 10 days after joint review, submit complete schedule.

D. Submit updated schedule with each Application for Payment.

3.05 PROGRESS PHOTOGRAPHSA. Submit photographs with each application for payment, taken not more than 3 days prior to

submission of application for payment.

Indicate special procedures, perimeter conditions requiring specialattention, and special environmental criteria required for application or installation.

B. Comply with reference standard of date of issue current on date of Contract Documents, exceptwhere a specific date is established by applicable code.

C. Obtain copies of standards where required by product specification sections.

D. Maintain copy at project site during submittals, planning, and progress of the specific work, untilSubstantial Completion.

E. Should specified reference standards conflict with Contract Documents, request clarificationfrom Architect before proceeding.

F. Neither the contractual relationships, duties, or responsibilities of the parties in Contract northose of Architect shall be altered from the Contract Documents by mention or inferenceotherwise in any reference document.

1.05 TESTING AND INSPECTION AGENCIES AND SERVICESA. Contractor shall employ and pay for services of an independent testing agency to perform other

specified testing.

B. Employment of agency in no way relieves Contractor of obligation to perform Work inaccordance with requirements of Contract Documents.

C. Contractor Employed Agency:

1. Laboratory: Authorized to operate in Florida.

A. Monitor quality control over suppliers, manufacturers, products, services, site conditions, andworkmanship, to produce work of specified quality.

B. Comply with manufacturers' instructions, including each step in sequence.

C. Should manufacturers' instructions conflict with Contract Documents, request clarification fromArchitect before proceeding.

D. Comply with specified standards as minimum quality for the work except where more stringenttolerances, codes, or specified requirements indicate higher standards or more preciseworkmanship.

E. Have work performed by persons qualified to produce required and specified quality.

F. Verify that field measurements are as indicated on shop drawings or as instructed by themanufacturer.

G. Secure products in place with positive anchorage devices designed and sized to withstandstresses, vibration, physical distortion, and disfigurement.

3.02 MOCK-UPSA. Before installing portions of the Work where mock-ups are required, construct mock-ups in

location and size indicated for each form of construction and finish required to comply with thefollowing requirements, using materials indicated for the completed Work. The purpose ofmock-up is to demonstrate the proposed range of aesthetic effects and workmanship.

B. Accepted mock-ups establish the standard of quality the Architect will use to judge the Work.

C. Tests shall be performed under provisions identified in this section and identified in therespective product specification sections.

D. Assemble and erect specified items with specified attachment and anchorage devices,flashings, seals, and finishes.

E. Accepted mock-ups shall be a comparison standard for the remaining Work.

F. Where mock-up has been accepted by Architect and is specified in product specificationsections to be removed, protect mock-up throughout construction, remove mock-up and cleararea when directed to do so by Architect.

3.03 TOLERANCESA. Monitor fabrication and installation tolerance control of products to produce acceptable Work.

Do not permit tolerances to accumulate.

B. Comply with manufacturers' tolerances. Should manufacturers' tolerances conflict with ContractDocuments, request clarification from Architect before proceeding.

C. Adjust products to appropriate dimensions; position before securing products in place.

3.04 TESTING AND INSPECTIONA. Testing Agency Duties:

1. Provide qualified personnel at site. Cooperate with Architect and Contractor inperformance of services.

2. Perform specified sampling and testing of products in accordance with specifiedstandards.

3. Ascertain compliance of materials and mixes with requirements of Contract Documents.

4. Promptly notify Architect and Contractor of observed irregularities or non-compliance ofWork or products.

5. Perform additional tests and inspections required by Architect.

6. Submit reports of all tests/inspections specified.

B. Limits on Testing/Inspection Agency Authority:

1. Agency may not release, revoke, alter, or enlarge on requirements of ContractDocuments.

2. Agency may not approve or accept any portion of the Work.

3. Agency may not assume any duties of Contractor.

4. Agency has no authority to stop the Work.

C. Contractor Responsibilities:

1. Deliver to agency at designated location, adequate samples of materials proposed to beused that require testing, along with proposed mix designs.

2. Cooperate with laboratory personnel, and provide access to the Work and tomanufacturers' facilities.

3. Provide incidental labor and facilities:

a. To provide access to Work to be tested/inspected.

b. To obtain and handle samples at the site or at source of Products to betested/inspected.

c. To facilitate tests/inspections.

d. To provide storage and curing of test samples.

4. Notify Architect and laboratory 24 hours prior to expected time for operations requiringtesting/inspection services.

5. Employ services of an independent qualified testing laboratory and pay for additionalsamples, tests, and inspections required by Contractor beyond specified requirements.

6. Arrange with Owner's agency and pay for additional samples, tests, and inspectionsrequired by Contractor beyond specified requirements.

D. Re-testing required because of non-compliance with specified requirements shall be performedby the same agency on instructions by Architect.

E. Re-testing required because of non-compliance with specified requirements shall be paid for byContractor.

3.05 MANUFACTURERS' FIELD SERVICESA. When specified in individual specification sections, require material or product suppliers or

manufacturers to provide qualified staff personnel to observe site conditions, conditions ofsurfaces and installation, quality of workmanship, start-up of equipment, test, adjust, andbalance equipment, and [________] as applicable, and to initiate instructions when necessary.

B. Report observations and site decisions or instructions given to applicators or installers that aresupplemental or contrary to manufacturers' written instructions.

3.06 DEFECT ASSESSMENTA. Replace Work or portions of the Work not complying with specified requirements.

1. Finish patched surfaces to match finish that existed prior to patching. On continuoussurfaces, refinish to nearest intersection or natural break. For an assembly, refinish entireunit.

3. Repair patched surfaces that are damaged, lifted, discolored, or showing otherimperfections due to patching work. If defects are due to condition of substrate, repairsubstrate prior to repairing finish.

3.07 PROGRESS CLEANINGA. Maintain areas free of waste materials, debris, and rubbish. Maintain site in a clean and orderly

condition.

B. Remove debris and rubbish from pipe chases, plenums, attics, crawl spaces, and other closedor remote spaces, prior to enclosing the space.

C. Broom and vacuum clean interior areas prior to start of surface finishing, and continue cleaningto eliminate dust.

D. Collect and remove waste materials, debris, and trash/rubbish from site periodically anddispose off-site; do not burn or bury.

3.08 PROTECTION OF INSTALLED WORKA. Protect installed work from damage by construction operations.

B. Provide special protection where specified in individual specification sections.

C. Provide temporary and removable protection for installed products. Control activity in immediatework area to prevent damage.

D. Provide protective coverings at walls, projections, jambs, sills, and soffits of openings.

E. Protect finished floors, stairs, and other surfaces from traffic, dirt, wear, damage, or movementof heavy objects, by protecting with durable sheet materials.

F. Prohibit traffic or storage upon waterproofed or roofed surfaces. If traffic or activity is necessary,obtain recommendations for protection from waterproofing or roofing material manufacturer.

G. Remove protective coverings when no longer needed; reuse or recycle coverings if possible.

3.09 DEMONSTRATION AND INSTRUCTIONA. Demonstrate start-up, operation, control, adjustment, trouble-shooting, servicing, maintenance,

and shutdown of each item of equipment at scheduled time, at equipment location.

B. Clean interior and exterior glass, surfaces exposed to view; remove temporary labels, stainsand foreign substances, polish transparent and glossy surfaces, vacuum carpeted and softsurfaces.

C. Remove all labels that are not permanent. Do not paint or otherwise cover fire test labels ornameplates on mechanical and electrical equipment.

D. Clean equipment and fixtures to a sanitary condition with cleaning materials appropriate to thesurface and material being cleaned.

E. Clean filters of operating equipment.

F. Clean debris from roofs, gutters and downspouts.

G. Clean site; sweep paved areas, rake clean landscaped surfaces.

H. Remove waste, surplus materials, trash/rubbish, and construction facilities from the site;dispose of in legal manner; do not burn or bury.

3.12 CLOSEOUT PROCEDURESA. Make submittals that are required by governing or other authorities.

1. Provide copies to Architect and Owner.

B. Accompany Project Coordinator on preliminary inspection to determine items to be listed forcompletion or correction in the Contractor's Correction Punch List for Contractor's Notice ofSubstantial Completion.

C. Notify Architect when work is considered ready for Architect's Substantial Completioninspection.

D. Submit written certification containing Contractor's Correction Punch List, that ContractDocuments have been reviewed, work has been inspected, and that work is complete inaccordance with Contract Documents and ready for Architect's Substantial Completioninspection.

E. Conduct Substantial Completion inspection and create Final Correction Punch List containingArchitect's and Contractor's comprehensive list of items identified to be completed or correctedand submit to Architect.

F. Correct items of work listed in Final Correction Punch List and comply with requirements foraccess to Owner-occupied areas.

G. Notify Architect when work is considered finally complete and ready for Architect's SubstantialCompletion final inspection.

3.05 PLACING AND BONDINGA. Lay hollow masonry units with face shell bedding on head and bed joints.

B. Buttering corners of joints or excessive furrowing of mortar joints is not permitted.

C. Remove excess mortar and mortar smears as work progresses.

D. Interlock intersections and external corners, except for units laid in stack bond.

E. Do not shift or tap masonry units after mortar has achieved initial set. Where adjustment mustbe made, remove mortar and replace.

F. Perform job site cutting of masonry units with proper tools to provide straight, clean, unchippededges. Prevent broken masonry unit corners or edges.

G. Isolate masonry partitions from vertical structural framing members with a control joint asindicated.

H. Isolate top joint of masonry partitions from horizontal structural framing members and slabs ordecks with compressible joint filler.

3.06 WEEPS/CAVITY VENTSA. Install weeps in veneer and cavity walls at 24 inches (600 mm) on center horizontally on top of

through-wall flashing above shelf angles and lintels and at bottom of walls.

3.07 CAVITY MORTAR CONTROLA. Do not permit mortar to drop or accumulate into cavity air space or to plug weep/cavity vents.

B. For cavity walls, build inner wythe ahead of outer wythe to accommodate accessories.

C. Install cavity mortar diverter at base of cavity and at other flashing locations as recommendedby manufacturer to prevent mortar droppings from blocking weep/cavity vents.

3.08 REINFORCEMENT AND ANCHORAGE - MASONRY VENEERA. Stud Back-Up: Secure veneer anchors to stud framed back-up and embed into masonry veneer

at maximum 16 inches (400 mm) on center vertically and 24 inches (600 mm) on centerhorizontally. Place additional anchors at perimeter of openings and ends of panels, somaximum spacing of anchors is 8 inches (200 mm) on center.

3.09 MASONRY FLASHINGSA. Whether or not specifically indicated, install masonry flashing to divert water to exterior at all

locations where downward flow of water will be interrupted.

1. Extend flashings full width at such interruptions and at least 6 inches (152 mm), minimum,into adjacent masonry or turn up flashing ends at least 1 inch (25.4 mm), minimum, toform watertight pan at non-masonry construction.

2. Remove or cover protrusions or sharp edges that could puncture flashings.

3. Seal lapped ends and penetrations of flashing before covering with mortar.

D. Extend metal flashings through exterior face of masonry and terminate in an angled drip withhemmed edge. Install joint sealer below drip edge to prevent moisture migration under flashing.

E. Lap end joints of flashings at least 6 inches (152 mm), minimum, and seal watertight withflashing sealant/adhesive.

3.10 LINTELSA. Install loose steel lintels over openings.

Field Quality Control Log Form: Show same data fields as on Preinstallation FieldAdhesion Test Log, with known information filled out and lines for multiple tests persealant/substrate combinations; include visual inspection and specified field testing; allowfor possibility that more tests than minimum specified may be necessary.

G. Field Adhesion Test Procedures:

1. Allow sealants to fully cure as recommended by manufacturer before testing.

2. Have a copy of the test method document available during tests.

3. Record the type of failure that occurred, other information required by test method, andthe information required on the Field Quality Control Log.

4. If any combination of sealant type and substrate does not show evidence of minimumadhesion or shows cohesion failure before minimum adhesion, report results to Architect.

3.03 INSTALLATION - GENERALA. Install tile and grout in accordance with applicable requirements of ANSI A108.1a thru A108.13,

manufacturer's instructions, and TCNA (HB) recommendations.

B. Lay tile to pattern indicated. Do not interrupt tile pattern through openings.

C. Cut and fit tile to penetrations through tile, leaving sealant joint space. Form corners and basesneatly. Align floor joints.

D. Place tile joints uniform in width, subject to variance in tolerance allowed in tile size. Make groutjoints without voids, cracks, excess mortar or excess grout, or too little grout.

E. Form internal angles square and external angles bullnosed.

F. Install ceramic accessories rigidly in prepared openings.

G. Sound tile after setting. Replace hollow sounding units.

H. Keep control and expansion joints free of mortar, grout, and adhesive.

I. Prior to grouting, allow installation to completely cure; minimum of 48 hours.

1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLINGA. Deliver products to site in sealed and labeled containers; inspect to verify acceptability.

B. Container Label: Include manufacturer's name, type of paint, brand name, lot number, brandcode, coverage, surface preparation, drying time, cleanup requirements, color designation, andinstructions for mixing and reducing.

C. Paint Materials: Store at minimum ambient temperature of 45 degrees F (7 degrees C) and amaximum of 90 degrees F (32 degrees C), in ventilated area, and as required bymanufacturer's instructions.

1.08 FIELD CONDITIONSA. Do not apply materials when surface and ambient temperatures are outside the temperature

ranges required by the paint product manufacturer.

B. Follow manufacturer's recommended procedures for producing best results, including testing ofsubstrates, moisture in substrates, and humidity and temperature limitations.

C. Provide lighting level of 80 ft candles (860 lx) measured mid-height at substrate surface.

C. Test shop-applied primer for compatibility with subsequent cover materials.

D. Measure moisture content of surfaces using an electronic moisture meter. Do not apply finishesunless moisture content of surfaces are below the following maximums:

1. Gypsum Wallboard: 12 percent.

2. Interior Wood: 15 percent, measured in accordance with ASTM D4442.

3. Exterior Wood: 15 percent, measured in accordance with ASTM D4442.

4. Concrete Floors and Traffic Surfaces: 8 percent.

3.02 PREPARATIONA. Clean surfaces thoroughly and correct defects prior to coating application.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the bestresult for the substrate under the project conditions.

C. Remove or mask surface appurtenances, including electrical plates, hardware, light fixture trim,escutcheons, and fittings, prior to preparing surfaces or finishing.

D. Seal surfaces that might cause bleed through or staining of topcoat.

E. Remove mildew from impervious surfaces by scrubbing with solution of tetra-sodium phosphateand bleach. Rinse with clean water and allow surface to dry.

F. Gypsum Board Surfaces to be Painted: Fill minor defects with filler compound. Spot primedefects after repair.

G. Concrete Floors and Traffic Surfaces to be Painted: Remove contamination, acid etch, andrinse floors with clear water. Verify required acid-alkali balance is achieved. Allow to dry.

H. Aluminum Surfaces to be Painted: Remove surface contamination by steam or high pressurewater. Remove oxidation with acid etch and solvent washing. Apply etching primer immediatelyfollowing cleaning.

I. Galvanized Surfaces to be Painted: Remove surface contamination and oils and wash withsolvent. Apply coat of etching primer.

J. Corroded Steel and Iron Surfaces to be Painted: Prepare using at least SSPC-SP 2 (hand toolcleaning) or SSPC-SP 3 (power tool cleaning) followed by SSPC-SP 1 (solvent cleaning).

K. Uncorroded Uncoated Steel and Iron Surfaces to be Painted: Remove grease, mill scale, weldsplatter, dirt, and rust. Where heavy coatings of scale are evident, remove by hand wirebrushing or sandblasting; clean by washing with solvent. Apply a treatment of phosphoric acidsolution, ensuring weld joints, bolts, and nuts are similarly cleaned. Prime paint entire surface;spot prime after repairs.

L. Shop-Primed Steel Surfaces to be Finish Painted: Sand and scrape to remove loose primerand rust. Feather edges to make touch-up patches inconspicuous. Clean surfaces with solvent.Prime bare steel surfaces. Re-prime entire shop-primed item.

M. Interior Wood Surfaces to Receive Opaque Finish: Wipe off dust and grit prior to priming. Sealknots, pitch streaks, and sappy sections with sealer. Fill nail holes and cracks after primer hasdried; sand between coats. Back prime concealed surfaces before installation.

N. Interior Wood Surfaces to Receive Transparent Finish: Wipe off dust and grit prior to sealing,seal knots, pitch streaks, and sappy sections with sealer. Fill nail holes and cracks after sealerhas dried; sand lightly between coats. Prime concealed surfaces with gloss varnish reduced 25percent with thinner.

O. Exterior Wood Surfaces to Receive Opaque Finish: Remove dust, grit, and foreign matter. Sealknots, pitch streaks, and sappy sections. Fill nail holes with tinted exterior calking compoundafter prime coat has been applied. Back prime concealed surfaces before installation.

P. Exterior Wood to Receive Transparent Finish: Remove dust, grit, and foreign matter; sealknots, pitch streaks, and sappy sections with sealer. Fill nail holes with tinted exterior calkingcompound after sealer has been applied. Prime concealed surfaces.

Q. Metal Doors to be Painted: Prime metal door top and bottom edge surfaces.

3.03 APPLICATIONA. Remove unfinished louvers, grilles, covers, and access panels on mechanical and electrical

components and paint separately.

B. Exterior Wood to Receive Opaque Finish: If final painting must be delayed more than 2 weeksafter installation of woodwork, apply primer within 2 weeks and final coating within 4 weeks.

C. Apply products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

D. Do not apply finishes to surfaces that are not dry. Allow applied coats to dry before next coat isapplied.

E. Apply each coat to uniform appearance.

F. Sand wood and metal surfaces lightly between coats to achieve required finish.

G. Vacuum clean surfaces of loose particles. Use tack cloth to remove dust and particles just priorto applying next coat.

H. Wood to Receive Transparent Finishes: Tint fillers to match wood. Work fillers into the grainbefore set. Wipe excess from surface.

I. Reinstall electrical cover plates, hardware, light fixture trim, escutcheons, and fittings removedprior to finishing.

3.04 CLEANINGA. Collect waste material that could constitute a fire hazard, place in closed metal containers, and

remove daily from site.

3.05 PROTECTIONA. Protect finished coatings until completion of project.
