o Have a desire to promote BIG and the BIG Goals and Objectives

o Make sure you have an elevator speech promoting BIG: (Training, Advocacy, Outreach, and Personal Development)

o Zeal for what you believe in is infectious to those around you

o You should be eager to get the word out about BIG and what BIG is doing to help others

o Take time to do advance planning and scheduling of events with leadership involved

o Do your research about the leadership and know what their value proposition is for the organization

o Make sure you and your chapter members are on the same accord regarding activities planned involving leadership

o Know the key stakeholders within leadership and the POCs who are influential in scheduling (Speak with them early and often)

• You have the opportunity to get buy in of the Agency Officials as a result of your meetings (Note: Always follow-up meetings with a letter of thank you and in that letter recap what you discussed and what they agreed to do for your chapter)

• Include the Agency Leaders in your chapter training sessions (Note: For example if you meet with a training leader try to incorporate your agency training into your chapter meetings)

• Dedicated To You – BIG is dedicated to the African American public servant and the GSA Organization.

• Professional – During the BIG National Training Institute held each summer BBC host a GSA Agency Forum with GSA Senior Leaders who speak to GSA employees and BIG members.

• BIG Offers Training - Members and visitors to BBC meetings can be offered informal training such as but not limited to: Leadership, EEO, IDP Development, and GSA Meeting Space

• Advocacy – BIG advocates for the GSA employee regarding EEO process, racial discrimination, affirmative action, and workplace issues.

• Networking – GSA employees will have the ability to meet new people from all levels of Government and through the meetings may foster business opportunities. “BIG Means Business”

• Scholarships – Scholarships to college and high school students are offered.

• BIG BBC keeps you informed – BIG provide the chapters with information regarding upcoming important BIG and GSA events.
