3. Subaru WRX

All hopped up with a hood scoop, flared fenders, and a hot-rod engine under the hood, the WRX is an Impreza on steroids. Available only as a sedan, a 268-hp turbo 2.0-liter four and a six-speed manual are standard, as is all-wheel drive. A CVT is optional, but of course the manual is more fun to drive despite its wide ratios. With crisp steering and a quick turn-in, the WRX carves up corners like the rally-inspired beast it is, but the ride is unforgiving over all but the smoothest roads.

PerformanceThe poise and balance inherent in all Subaru vehicles has been inspired by nature and a profound sense of logic: An eagle flying gracefully through the sky could not manage this if one wing was heavier than the other - A leopard thundering through the jungle could not do this if two legs were longer than the rest - it's logical. The same applies to Subaru and explains why the core technology is based on perfect symmetry.

SYMMETRICAL AWD – This unique system sees the transmission, transfer to propeller shaft and rear differential sit in a straight line behind the engine, meaning that it is compact and bilaterally balanced with a low centre of gravity. Additionally, if a wheel slips, the torque distribution between the front and rear is automatically readjusted. This provides the peace of mind that you will be driving a car with inherent balance and stability.

SUBARU BOXER – The advantages of this rally-derived design include superb rotational balance, low vibration, and the ability to position the engine lower in the car for a reduced centre of gravity. The cylinders are positioned 180 degrees apart on both sides of the crankshaft, forming the Horizontally-Opposed SUBARU BOXER Engine.

SI-DRIVE – WRX models equipped with the Sport Lineartronic transmission feature SI-DRIVE. SI-DRIVE allows the driver to tailor throttle response and shift modes to the situation at hand. Sport and Sport Sharp modes feature aggressive response for 6- and 8-speed manual modes. When you want to be more fuel-efficient, select the Intelligent mode for improved MPG.

BLUETOOTH – Bluetooth hands-free technology lets you manage your phone and audio system by voice and controls on the steering wheel. Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones link directly through the Subaru audio system.

VOICE-ACTIVATED GPS NAVIGATION – With a 7-inch high-resolution touch-screen and voice activation, let the available STARLINK™ multimedia navigation system know where you're going and it does the rest.

AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL – Every WRX features standard CFC-free automatic climate control. The WRX STI dual-zone automatic climate control allows you and your passenger to set your desired temperature and let the system do the rest.

LIGHT-EMITTING DIODE (LED) HEADLIGHTS – Available LED headlights produce a brighter output than traditional halogen lamps while using less energy to do so. Oh, and they look pretty cool too.

KEYLESS ACCESS AND START – The available Keyless Access with Push-Button Start features touch-activated door unlock and one-touch start functions. It allows you to unlock, enter, and start the car without the key ever leaving your pocket.

REAR-VISION CAMERA – A standard rear-vision camera enhances rear visiblity when backing up. It even displays guide lines to help you see the vehicle's path and judge distance to other objects.

Page 7: Bench Marking Car

ExteriorThe 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI feature sleek and refined styling while still maintaining an overall aggressive appearance. The wide, low stance is emphasized by the piercing headlights, front grille, and bold front fenders. The wide rear fenders, quad exhaust system, and LED-infused tail and brake lights complete the muscular look.

LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEELS – The WRX and WRX Sport ride on Dunlop summer performance tires fitted to lightweight 17-inch Enkei aluminum alloy wheels with gunmetal finish .

HIGH-VISIBILITY HEADLIGHTS – The WRX and WRX STI feature projector beams and parabolic reflectors that deliver optimal light direction and increased visibility overall.

SIDE COOLING VENTS – The prominent wheel arches help create an aggressive look and incorporate functional cooling vents. These vents manage airflow around the wheels, helping to draw heat away from the engine to ensure more consistent performance overall.

SafetySafety is at the core of every Subaru. For the new WRX, many of the innovations that make it more thrilling also make it safer, because the best way to protect yourself is to avoid hazards altogether. The grip of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive helps increase your power to evade danger and take on less-than-ideal roads. Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control offers customizable performance whilst helping you regain control if you lose traction. You can feel reassured with the protection offered by the highly resilient body, Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frames and added knee airbag.

RING-SHAPED REINFORCEMENT FRAMES – A redesigned frame in all-new WRX offers improved safety characteristics thanks to the use of high-tensile steel, which makes it more resilient in a collision and heightens its handling precision.

AIRBAGS – The all-new WRX is added with a knee airbag on top of standard SRS*1 front, front side, and curtain airbags. The seatbelts feature a pretensioner that automatically winds in to restrain you and your passengers and a load limiter that reduces shock to the chest area in the event of front collision. For small children, the tether and ISO-FIX anchors allow the easy and firm installation and removal of child and baby seats.

4.Supreme A3

The Focus ST belongs on any enthusiast’s short list, combining a high fun-to-drive factor with the every-day versatility of a four-door hatchback. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque is standard, as is a six-speed manual gearbox. The ST shines on a winding road or track and actually offers decent fuel efficiency and value—as long as you avoid the pricey options. Torque steer, however, remains an issue, and the optional MyFord Touch is confusing.

Performance The combination of the steering, handling and suspension on the A3 makes the other competitors in the front-wheel-drive class seems incredibly unsophiscated in comparison make it good looking.

ENGINE – A turbocharged direct-injection 2.0L EcoBoost®

engine gives you the best of power and responsiveness – without sacrificing fuel efficiency. You’ll feel unbeatable with 250PS of power and 340Nm of torque with overboost plus a 6-speed manual transmission.

SUSPENSION – A3 unique sports suspension system with Torque Vectoring gives you flawless cornering. And 18" alloys with high-performance front and rear disc brakes ensure added control.

GRILLE SHUTTER – When you’re driving slowly, the Active Grille Shutter system keeps the grille vent open to cool the engine. When you pick up speed it can automatically close, improving aerodynamics and helping to save fuel.

InteriorThe new Supreme A3 is astonishing. Sublime. Minty-fresh magnificent. It’s the sort of car you can drive 20 hours a day for a week, and still want to jump back into.

RACING SEATS – With excellent shoulder and torso support, the world-famous RECARO® seats are ergonomically designed for the high performance driver.

POWERSTART – With racing-inspired aluminium pedals and the engine’s throaty acoustics piped into the cabin, the A3 is as sporty inside as out. Simply press the PowerStart button and you’re off – without even turning a key.

VOICE-ACTIVATED COMMANDS –Xvision Park Distance Control is a parking system that can be fitted to any vehicle, whether new or used. The Xvision system detects solid or non-solid objects, such as bushes. It also detects pedestrians, animals and low objects, giving you peace of mind when maneuvering in busy areas.

Page 9: Bench Marking Car

CLEVER STORAGE – The centre console incorporates a space for smartphones and other mobile devices. It has a USB port for connectivity and power and a rubber mat to help hold your items securely.

ExteriorThe new Supreme A3 wide, road-hugging stance and bold styling projects a clear statement of intent. Features such as a dynamically sculpted bonnet, slim headlamps and twin-hexagonal center tailpipes create an unmistakable look. Smart, racing influenced design also enhances the car’s performance, aerodynamics, downforce and grip.

SUPREME A3 ALUMINIUM WHEEL – Available 18-inch machined aluminum with black-painted pockets*, includes front and rear disc brakes with red brake calipers.

A3 SIGNATURE FRONT GRILLE – A gaping one-piece trapezoidal item replaces the standard car's segmented one.

REAR SPOILER - Rear roof spoiler is standard and does what it's designed to do: reduce lift, reduce drag and help keep the back window cleaner.

SUNROOF – Stay with an fresh air if you need it on sunny day.

BODYKIT – Sleek design with aerodynamic and stability of the car.

A3 LED SIGNATURE – For extra safe when cruising in darkness even keep you safe all the time.

ULTRA BRIGHT, LOW ENERGY BI-XENON LIGHT – From motorways to city streets, Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Adaptive Lighting change their beam pattern automatically, providing the best illumination for a variety of driving situations. The headlamps also auto-dip when an oncoming vehicle is detected.

POWER FOLDABLE MIRROR – To avoid accidental damage, power-foldable mirrors automatically fold inwards when you’re parked. Tucked back, they also protect the stylish integrated indicators.

SafetyHigh-performance demands a high-level of safety. And the new Supreme A3 is equipped with a comprehensive range of advanced measures, to provide you with protection and reassurance.

INTELLIGENT PROTECTION SYSTEM (IPS) – The Supreme is equipped with an advanced Intelligent Protection System (IPS), which coordinates a number of safety systems to protect both you and your passengers. As well as an impact-absorbing bodyshell, an array of airbags help shield the car’s occupants. The steering column and pedals are also designed to collapse away from the driver, helping to reduce the chance of injury in the event of an accident.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (EPS) + TRACTION CONTROL – You can switch the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system between two modes. Sport Mode gives you full control over engine torque whilst the ESP brake interventions are reduced to allow more sporty driving. Traction Control is also switched off to deliver higher wheel spin for improved traction in specific, demanding situations. Via the ‘Off Mode’, both ESP and Traction Control can be switched off completely.

BRAKING – A refined Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) combine to ensure that your braking is more controlled. The brake assembly has also been

Page 10: Bench Marking Car

improved to give a swifter response.AUTO CITY STOP – Accidents in stop-start or slow moving traffic happen all too frequently (particularly in busy city streets). Active City Stop is designed to help you avoid, or reduce the impact of them. If the system detects the car in front slows down unexpectedly, and you’re travelling at a speed of under 50 km/h, it automatically applies the brakes.BLIND SPOT DETECTOR – The Blind Spot Information System uses radar sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your car and actively alert you to potentially dangerous hazardous situations with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror.

REAR VIEW-MIROR – Driving at night would be easier if the lights of the vehicles behind aren’t constantly dazzling you. The innovative auto-dimming rear-view mirror automatically detects headlight glare and switches to a dimmed setting.

DRIVER ALERT – Constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes caused by fatigue. If you’re getting tired, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break.

LANE KEEPING AID – Will deliver steering assistance if it detects you are about to change lane without signalling. And if your vehicle is unintentionally drifting toward the lane markings, Lane Keeping Alert alerts you by vibrating the steering wheel and showing a visual signal in the cluster display.

HILL START ASSIST – Temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator.

WIPER – Rain-sensing wipers spring into action when they detect moisture on your windscreen, then adjust their speed to deal with whatever the weather throws at you. You can even choose from six sensitivity levels that determine how much moisture can build up before the wipers activate.
