BENJAMIN SCOTT FOLDS

• Born September 12th 1966 in Winston-salem North Carolina

• Song writer and composer• Plays lead rock piano in the musical group Ben

Folds Five • Started playing the piano at age nine• Won his first battle of the bands in 1988 as a

bass player

EDUCATION

• Attended the University of Miami's Frost

School of Music• Dropped out with one credit left to go

to work on his piano technique

BEN FOLDS FIVE

• Formed in 1994 and released their first self titled album in 1995

• Whatever and Ever Amen was released in 1997 and produced several singles including “Brick” which put them on the map

• The band released two more albums leading to their break up in 1999

SOLO CAREER

• As of 2008 Ben Folds has released 6 solo LP’s

• Ben’s first solo release was Rockin’ the Suburbs in 2001

• Performed with the West Australian Symphony orchestra (WASO)

• The Boston Pops Orchestra

• A second tour in Australia which included performances with the Sydney Symphony at the Sydney Opera House, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and The Queensland Orchestra

• The Utah Symphony Orchestra at Deer Valley

• He wrote or co-wrote the scores performed by each symphony
