All the discoveries that needed to be made, were done well before the first photograph in 1839
1600s - Robert Boyle reported that silver chloride turned dark under exposure
1600s - Angelo Sala noticed that powdered nitrate of silver is blackened by the sun
1727 - Johann Heinrich Schulze discovered that certain liquids change colour when exposed to light
1800s - Thomas Wedgwood successfully captured images, but his silhouettes could not survive as there was no known method of making the image permanent

A snapshot is a photograph that is taken quickly, without planning. When the Brownie was made available to the public, snapshots ruled the world.
Typically, snapshots are used to remember events and people who hold meaning in the photographer’s life.
