Meet our Pastor and First LadyDr. Rev. Gregory Davis and First lady Mrs. Ernestine Davis



Bellefonte History

The ruling Elders elected at the first formal organizational meeting was Elinor Parks, Albert Morrison, Anthony Stafford, Silas Davis, and William Caldwell . The Policy Committee consisted of Jessie Harris, George Melchor, Christopher Boger, Nathaniel Boger and Winifred Phifer. After the organization, the congregation met in a little log cabin located to the right of the present structure. In 1871, the church name became Bellefonte Presbyterian Church, which means "Beautiful Fountain".

• • The first minister of note was Rev. George Patterson who served from 1878-1885. Dr.

Frank T, Loganof Concord, N.C., served the longest term from 1890-1931. In between, professors and students served the church from J.C. Smith University, Charlotte, N.C. The Rev. J.H. Stokes served from 1934 to 1943. The Rev. W.A. Griggs served from 1944 to 1951 and the Rev. Seth Vanlandingham served from 1953 to 1961.

Seminarians served until the calling of Rev. Samuel L Fulwood on June 1, 1966. Rev. Fulwood served for 22 years. Under his leadership, the sanctuary was remodeled, new pews and carpet were installed, German siding was applied to the outside of the sanctuary; the fellowship hall, pastor's study, ladies lounge, rest rooms were constructed, and the grounds were landscaped.

On May 6,1990, the church elected the present pastor, Dr. Gregory Davis. He is truly a man called by God and has been a spiritual uplift to the congregation. During his tenure, many new members have been added to the church roll as well as former members reuniting. Under Rev. Davis’, leadership, a Tape Ministry, Youth Ministry, Youth Tutorial Program, Bible Study, Year-End Awards Banquet, New Members Classes, Disciple Classes and Computerized Record Keeping have been implemented.

The Reverend Luke Dorland, the first President of Barber-Scotia College, Concord, North Carolina, organized Bellefonte United Presbyterian Church in May 1867. Prior to the establishment of the church, the Negroes of the community were members of the Rocky River Presbyterian Church. The white minister of the community refused to let the Negroes hear a speech by Reverend Dorland in an integrated audience, so the Negro ladies requested that Reverend Dorland meet with them the next Sunday to help organize a church.

Children’s Church

One of GOD's most precious gifts to us are our children!

This is one of Bellefonte's fastest growing ministries that teaches GOD's words

to our little ones while providing FUN activities for

our children to enjoy!



Christian Education

Responsible for the overall coordination of Sunday School, Vacation Bible

School and any other global Christian education for the

church.



Bellefonte Choirs

The choirs are responsible for providing music during

worship services and other programs to uplift praises to

God• Senior• Spiritual Singers• Angels of Joy – Youth/Young Adults• Mass Choir



Evangelism Ministry

The Bellefonte Evangelism Ministry mission is to

spread God’s word within the church and the

community in addition to calling people everywhere

to believe in and follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and

Savior.

This ministry has touched the hearts of others by assigning greeters in the vestibule each Sunday morning and partnering with our Hospitality ministry to welcome guests as they enter service. Develop outreach programs that effectively turn guests into members.



Fundraising Ministry

Responsible for all major fundraising projects within

the church body and community



Technology Ministry

Responsibilities include implementation and

management of all computer systems, applications,

hardware / software in addition to serving as the technology liaison for the

infrastructure and business needs of the church.



Media Ministry

The Media Ministry is responsible for ensuring services are recorded as

well as producing recorded CD’s and other media for

distribution.



Men’s Ministry

Responsible for leading men into a vital relationship with Christ and to assist them in their spiritual,

personal and community development.



Music Ministry

Responsible for leading and enhancing the hymns and

choir selections while providing a spiritual

gateway into souls through music



Pastoral Relations Ministry

The Pastoral Relations Ministry is responsible for aiding our Pastor during

church services, for speaking engagements, planning Appreciation

celebrations and all other areas as deemed necessary.



Senior Ministry

Responsible for maintaining the interest of the senior

members by the involvement of church and

community activities.



Training Ministry

Responsibilities include training the body of Christ in the areas of

leadership and development. Sessions have been held on “How to Make Your Church

More Inviting”, annual Leadership Training and

assistance with the development of the Church Manual.



Transportation Ministry

Responsible for preparing transportation routes for Sunday School, Morning

Worship and other church activities including driving

the bus and assigning other drivers to assist.



Wellness Ministry

Responsibilities include promoting health and

wellness for the mind, body and spirit as well as regular

distribution of health tips and sponsoring informative events to assist the church family and community with maintaining

a healthy lifestyle.



Women’s Ministry

Responsible for building an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens and witness to the promise

of God's kingdom.



Youth & Young Adults Ministry

Responsible for developing young

people to be disciples of Jesus Christ and responding to the needs and interest of young

people
