Database (CDB) from PNNL to BNL by 30 June 2018 in collaboration with Belle II colleagues at PNNL and in the Distributed Computing and Software groups.

• KLM commissioning– KLM team sought additional effort to commission KLM. – Worked with Virginia Tech, U. Hawaii and Belle II Ops Manager L.Wood to
bring on-board BNL postdoc Brian Kirby for Feb-Aug2018. • Intensive debug of firmware before/during Phase II• Verified >90% scintillator layer efficiency• Successfully implemented scintillator readout during Phase II• Participated in UH workshop to commission KLM test stand• Trained UH postdoc as replacement
– BNL conducted Belle II KLM readout firmware technical review 3-4 May 2018. • Committee members: Joseph Mead(chair), Hao Xu, Kai Chen of BNL NPP, Lynn
Wood of PNNL. • Committee Recommendations were adopted:
– Establishment test stand for KLM scintillator (at U. Hawaii)– Simplified scintillator readout for Phase II to be able to join DAQ

– B. Pal analyses• D0 → KsKs in Belle II. Initial studies of detector CP asymmetries.• Co-supervising U.Cincinnati grad student on CPV in D0 → KsKs!+!- with

• Our technical interests are – providing computing and software to satisfy the US Belle II requirements for
DDM, CDB, Tier 1 and raw data storage– providing a robust DAQ upgrade option with FELIX
• Our physics interests are– Searching for CPV in charm – Searching for LFUV in B decays– Completing Belle analyses and pentaquark searches
• We are investigating partnering with nearby Universities (SBU, Yale) to support students doing Belle II theses
• In 2017-2018 we achieved: – Completed transition of US Belle II computing to BNL from PNNL– Published CPV search in B->J/psi,pi0 (Belle)– Started BNL on heavy flavor research
