Alhamdulillah, it is finally my veryfirst step being in Japan! Alongwith other representatives fromIPB, UGM & UNUD, we headed toIbaraki prefecture from NaritaAirport by bus. The first thingcame to my mind is it is freakingfreezing that made me couldntfeel my hand. No doubt, it iswinter!

We gathered with other participants at Ibaraki University. Even all of them are Ibaraki Universitystudents but I saw they come from varied nationality. We attended opening ceremony addressedby Prof Kurusu, Prof Dahrul & Prof Dewa, guidance by Sakagami-sensei & keynote-lecture bySato-sensei briefly about this winter course program. In the evening, there was welcome party heldat campus cafeteria and yes, there were bunch of foods & drinks (even there was sake). Couldntresist its appealing looks and smell, we crazed to eat sashimi, cakes, pudding, shrimp ring & manymore. Sakagami-sensei invited all the attendants to kanpai- Japanese way to cheer. While enjoyingthe party, we also listened introduction speech from each representatives: IPB, UGM, UNUD, Ibaraki

Univ, AIMS program & also Afghans, Thai & Chinese students. They looked so warm & I wished I canbefriend with them well! We walked back at Chisun-Inn & took a rest.Kak Putze was my roommate and both of us ended sleep late because itwas one question that we kept asking to each other, Are we in Japanalready? . We still couldnt believe we made our promise at SummerCourse previously that we had to give our best to reach the prize going to

Japan. Now we arehere. , we said ourgrateful thanks toAllah. I did wish at thattime I will fully cherishthis week & learn muchth ings with a ll my

    might.

we could enjoyed touring this place. We were guided by Shakh, a Bareally helped us a lot. At that time, even though some of us were sepatimes with my new friends in Group A, Kak Kiki & the Afghans Htried to be closer. They are much older than me but they were very pcontinued to National Institute for Agro-Environmental Sciences (NIAEOhkura-sensei about soil science. At first I felt that I wont ablesleeping in this class because I had no idea about soil (I am agroindtotal newbie in this topic) but Ohkura-sensei cool way of lecturknow I could find fun side in soil world when he depicted us about stakeholders facing right now, motivation behind it and the potency foThere was his quote that I will remember forever, Passion iyears, it needs 5, 10, 20 or even decades of consistency. Think that youat the future! If every single onedefines passion as something youare enjoying by yourself now... Ibet human would be extinct forlong time ago. Work for now, letyour children taste the fruit. Pleasestudy hard! I am looking for yourfuture ! I cant be more agree!

I was so excited since sunshowed up today becausewe will go to Tokyo, yeah! Ihave been loving almost allabout Japan since I was atkindergarten and Tokyostood at first place I dreamedto go someday. And it will berealized today. On the bus, Icouldnt close my eyes orbeing sleepy even it took 3hours on the way because Iwas superbly excited lookingat every dazzling views wepassed by. I feels so much joyous & happy! We arrivedat National Museum of Nature & Science, Ueno. Welistened to explanation frommuseum guide & then wewent to took around thishuge place. Here, we finally

    14/12/14 15/12/14

met up with Summer Course Japanese friends, also my ex-teammate Masato& Jun. I missed them so much! We shared good laughs together & theyaccompanied us for today entire Tokyo excursion. For the next destination, each group was able to decided one place. Group A chose Asakusa. This placewas only imagined in my mind every time I read mangaor watch anime. With that marvelous signature of hugered paper lampion, temples, & majestic smokes well, who

would refuse to go there?! It was like my childhood fantasybecame true. I even startledwhen I reached in front of that gigantic lampion. I alsoshopped bunch of cutesouvenirs with Kak Putri here

as recommendation from Fumi-san, Saki-san & Misato-san.But I got bad experience at Ueno station at our wayhome... I lost my ticket when we were about to go back toTsuichiura. Arisawa-sensei helped me to ask for help to thestation officer. He opened the ticket machine and my ticketwas stucked there. It was so embarrassing and I felt likemuch burden at that time but Arisawa-sensei was so niceperson & said it was okay. We headed home by bus & how

they pay amazed me again that night. I wont forget thiswonderful day ever!

center which is located at Kasumigaura. It was like my mind blown whenbeauty with bunch of white storks flying above it. It is so large that I of biggest of entire Japan! We listened to overall steps how the lake water protap water. We went around the purification plant and even up to the top owind blew so hard that made us freezing much more! We learnt that each stepprocesses were monitored pretty strictly. Looking at those high-tech systemcome to this point. If it happen, I can truly imagine how Indonesian will escagaining that kind of prosperity because water is absolute source of life annation is by strengthen that aspect first. We also learnt how to assess water qwe did before in Summer Course. We headed home very late that night butearly. We went to a Indian style restaurant located not far from campus asaccompanied us these two days & he had to return back to Tokyo this nighcurry, and it really cured our tongue which is getting home-sick of hot spices.

Today we attended lectures for the whole day.I was superbly excited because it will be myfirst experience to feel the real atmosphere of studying in Japan! The class was presented bylecturers from both organizing countries,Indonesia & Japan. It was started by Mr. Tono,

& then continued by Maeda-sensei, Kuboyama-sensei, Nishikawa-sensei,Narisawa-sensei, Mr. Saifur, Mr. Bagus and closed by Mrs. Maya. I didnt feelany much differences between both countries lecturers but what I foundcontrastly different that day was how Afghans & Japanese state theiropinions. After lectures, we gathered in group to discuss tomorrowpresentation. I found that Hashimi, Kakar & other Afghans are much morestraight-forward than shy Japanese. It was not like we had quarrels orsomething but it was indeed much more tensions. I felt a challenge to discuss

with friends with two opposite characteristics & it was fun learning so muchfrom them at that rainy night.

Finally it came to the presentation day! Mymy room preparing the slides and it was mgot little drunk because of sake Yewhile working with us. We then turned worked on slides at the same time. It was night! At class in the morning, we dischairman agreed for being our moderator. or simulate the presentation by ourselvsystematically. I got role as slide editor alon

all our might to transform our discussion result in clear but yet eye-catching look. When our turn came out, each got role to present but also others who answered other groups questions. I tried to answered one from applying flush toilet rather than the pit one. After presentation session ended, the next one was poster session. I gosatisfying though It was on the corner and one of the most far from door where evaluators & other

disappointing because actually I intended to get at least one award in my first visit to Japan. But after group presthat I couldnt hope too much from my group performance and it became worse by my not strategic emyself that I had to give all of my might now and just feel nothing to lose because this poster session will be Even though my poster didnt get attention as much as I expected, my place was near to Kak Putze, Arnal, Aldlearnt much from them how to describe your own poster well but I also had somuch fun & laughs with them. After the day ended, Afghans friends (Ahmedi,Moqbal, Hashimi, Kakar, Nawab & Najeeb) invited some of us to theirapartment for some party. We definitely became excited! They cooked usbiryani rice, meat curry & their traditional tea & snacks. I still couldnt forgetthat pleasant taste because we really missed this kind of meal after never gotany spices on our plate in Japan for days We discussed so much things aboutlife. We were totally speechless when they told us about how people suffer forliving there. The war, killed victims, discrimination, propaganda, etc Thoseexactly happened there, even to them. But what made my heart more hurt was

their massive spirit & motive to study. They were born & have been living in ..

18/12/14 country with thatmuch matters but they stillinsist to pursue their dreamof being a lecturer. All of them are married & theysacrificed their wish forbeing around their familyto seek for betterknowledge far away inJapan. They are sti llamusing with their jokesand straight-forwards, tothe point jokes. We wereshocked when they told usthey were married at theage of 19 to 20 y.o. EvenAhmedi whom weassumed same age with usalready had 2 sons. Butthey are just totally happywith it & they always toldus to say thanks to Allahfor having much moreeasy path of life. Theirwords were simply deep

Last day of Winter Course Right after woke up, I could clearly feel empty inside my heart. Today started from the morningthere were presentations from both engineering & agriculture & also both Ibaraki University & Tokyo University of Agriculture &Technology (TUAT) AIMS students. They were all undergraduate students & they came from many countries, such as Indonesia(IPB, ITB, UGM), Malaysia & Thailand. What they presented were about experiences they got in 100 days staying in Tokyo orIbaraki & how the laboratory works they experienced at the campus. Listening to them made my desire to take full-degreeprogram in Japan even bigger. During the breaks before noon, we prepared for our costumes... Yeah, we will perform traditionaldance & songs tonight at farewell party! Yellow-red for the dancers, violet for the singers & tosca for narrator a.k.a me. We wereso much excited & nervous at the same time, especially me. Although I have did it previously in Summer Course, but there will bemuch more people & they are foreigners, I was just afraid they wont get what I said. I never knew that putting on the costumesneeded effort too though, so some of us went first to the other room where the closing ceremony held & some included me helpedthe boys setting their costumes. Suddenly I got message from the others in the other room that I was chosen as best poster! I evenlaughed at that message because I didnt believe it at all, my headtook me back to my unsatisfying spot... but Alhamdulillah I madeit!!! After that, farewell party was started & our turn came. Mybeloved sisters & brothers did their work well, everyone were seementertained by their dazzling dances & cheerful performance of themedley songs! I was so proud of them. Udayana friends dancedpretty impressively too! No wonder from Bali people that theyalways kick it if come to traditional cultural performances. We alsolistened to Japanese & Thailand students pleasant songperformance. What a night. We headed home tonight by runninglike a silly child on the road, making fun with each other, with bigsmiles in our face. That was our last night in Japan & we ended itwith delightful memory together I love them all so so much!
