Even in ancient times, Italy was an important economic hub in Europe. The flourishing maritime trade of the Mediterranean Sea – especially in Genoa and Venice – was the corner-stone of Italy’s logistical developments.

Today, Germany and France are among Italy’s strongest trading partners. In addition, Spain, the USA and Great Britain are important export markets. The pillar of the Italian economy, however, is the service sector. Around 70 percent of the gross domestic product is attributable to services, including tourism.

The most important industries include mechanical engineering, aircraft construction, shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, the chemical industry and the production of electronic products. The textile industry is also very strong and, with its well-known brand names, stands for the epitome of made in Italy.

Whether you are building up, restarting, or expanding your business with Italy – we are your reliable logistics partner. Benefit from an efficient and fluent supply chain. Talk to our experts; they will support you with their long-standing experience.

Rome

Cinque Terre

Venice

All roads lead to RomeThis old saying definitely has its justification. Italy has many cities worth seeing, but Rome attracts by far the most visitors. The capital fascinates with historic squares, impressive sights and numerous fountains. Probably the most famous building in Rome is the Colosseum,

which is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and gives a great insight into the architecture of ancient Rome.

Cinque Terre – the most colorful scenery in Italy

Cinque Terre is the name for 5 neighboring communities on the

Italian Riviera. The nostal-gic fishing villages are

known for their color-ful houses, which are picturesquely situated in the steep coasts.

A hiking trail connects the 5 villages of the Cinque

Terre National Park and offers fascinating panoramic views of

the sea.

A gondola ride through Venice

Gondolas and Venice simply belong together. They are both a clever means of transport through the city’s canals and a thoroughly romantic activity. Don’t miss the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Square as well as the Bridge of Sighs! For those who are looking for a lot of entertainment, a visit during the Carnival is recommended. Parades, shows and costume contests take place spread over ten days.

Bella Italia! Beautiful Italy is rightly one of the most popular destinations in Europe. Visitors can enjoy natural beaches and hiking trails as well as large cities and cultural attractions. No matter which destination you choose: Look forward to the warm, Mediterra-nean climate and the enchanting Italian cuisine!

Year-long test phase ended – emission free logistics with the eActros

diesel

Our European field test of the eActros in our branch in Leipzig/Germany has ended after 12 months. The eActros is a 26t 6x2 swap body truck with a full electric range of up to 200 kms. Time to say goodbye and share our experience with you.

The truck operated an inner-city tour, doing approx. 70 km/day. During the 12 months of operation this meant savings of approx. 13t of local CO₂ emissions and 4,800 liters of diesel compared to a standard diesel truck.

Local project leader Marcel Heun, when-ever people asked him what was particularly striking about the eActros, replied “Nothing, but in a very good sense! Just as quiet as the eActros is on the road, as quietly it has inte-grated itself into our fleet.” Even as a pre- series vehicle, the eActros ran as well and reliably as a conventional diesel truck.

Testdriver Ricardo Böhnke has tears in his eyes when thinking about parting with his cherished electric truck. Apart from the fact that he drives locally emission-free for our customers, Ricardo particularly appreciates the almost silent and safe driving behavior of the eActros.

The eActros chassis is slightly longer than a conventional CoDi truck, but the steered rear axle completely compensates this disadvantage with a small turning radius. As a result, Ricardo delivered to Leipzig’s city center not only with zero emissions, but also safely and comfortably.

#WeKeepEuropeMoving

A new branch is being built at our Verona site. It comprises a warehouse with 7,410 sqm, office space of 2,072 sqm as well as 24 parking spots for swap bodies and 15 parking spots for trailers.

With the new branch, DB Schenker will be able to meet the individual requirements of its customers in the fastest and best possible way and further strengthen its European network.
