HYC/Q0203: Bell Diver

Brief Job Description

The role of a bell diver is to perform commercial diving activities and underwater operations in inshore andoffshore water in a closed bell (a rigid chamber used to transport divers from the surface to depth andback in open water) using breathing air/mix gas and saturation diving techniques. The spectrum ofcommercial diving includes industrial tasks performed from just below the water to deep saturation diving

Personal Attributes

Bell divers require to work for long hours in an underwater environment, which need them to be calm anddisciplined. The person must be physically fit to perform the job effectively underwater at a considerableincreased atmospheric pressure. The individual must be flexible to manage a demanding work schedule onsurface and underwater.

Assessment Guidelines and Assessment Weightage

Assessment Guidelines

1. Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack will be created by the Sector Skill Council. EachPerformance Criteria (PC) will be assigned marks proportional to its importance in NOS. SSC will also laydown the proportion of marks for Theory and Skills Practical for each PC.

2. The assessment for the theory part will be based on the knowledge bank of questions created by theSSC.

3. Assessment will be conducted for all compulsory NOS, and where applicable, on the selectedelective/option NOS/set of NOS.

4. Individual assessment agencies will create unique question papers for the theory part for eachcandidate at each examination/training center (as per assessment criteria below).

5. Individual assessment agencies will create unique evaluations for skill practical for every student ateach examination/ training center based on these criteria.

6. To pass the Qualification Pack assessment, every trainee should score a minimum of 50% of %aggregate marks to successfully clear the assessment.

7. In case of unsuccessful completion, the trainee may seek reassessment on the Qualification Pack.
