BELL AT A GLANCE
The new 427 Model, a twin-engine, multirole, light utility helicopter was announced in 1996, with first deliveries in 2000. It was the company's first aircraft designed entirely on computer. It has been now replaced in production by the lengthened Bell 429.
The Bell 427 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207D turboshaft engines with FADEC, and uses a four-blade main rotor system with a rigid, composite rotor hub and a two-blade tail rotor.
On 1966, the JetRanger received FAA certification. In 1968, the United States Navy selected the 206A as its primary trainer. The Army also eventually selected the 206A for a light observation helicopter. The basic shape and design of the JetRanger remained unchanged since 1967, but Bell introduced the 206B JetRanger II in 1971.
The company then worked on a twin version of its successful Bell 206 and Bell 407 series, and began the development of a new light twin.
Bell Helicopter is an American aerospace manufacturer headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Bell provides training and support services worldwide.
The company was founded in 1935 as Bell Aircraft Corporation by Lawrence Dale Bell in Buffalo, New York. The company focused on the designing and building of fighter aircraft (including the P-39 Airacobra, P-63 KingCobra, and the famous Bell X-1 first US aircraft to broke the sound barrier).
