Respected Professional Colleagues, As we are coming to the end of the year 2018 followed by the end financial year in 3 months thereafter and having completed or on the verge of completing our professional responsibilities pertaining to the year 2017-18, all of us are in a bit relaxed mood now. Of course, GST is ongoing work and with extension of dead line for GST audit, we will all be engaged till the end of financial year. Looking at the various audit deadlines and tremendous professional responsibilities cast on us and variety of professional opportunities that are coming up, I am of the opinion that the specialization is the need of the hour. It is the time for networking. Two or more firms/individuals, with expertise in different aspects need to network for better execution of professional assignments. I am also of the opinion that the GST audit should be done first followed by audit under Income Tax Act in the years to come and we may have to give representation to the Government to fix the deadlines accordingly. Alternatively, both the reports need to be merged. It is only my opinion, any feedback and deliberations in the matter from the members are most welcome. Keeping in view the variety of professional opportunities that are opening up and with the extensive dependence on computers, technology and internet, the Belgaum branch has been conducting the programs which will expose the members to the intricacies of such new avenues and technology. Such programs include two workshops on Office IT Security and System Audit and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in the month of December 2018 with combined CPE hours of 30. The members’ response to all the programs has been encouraging. Before I lay my pen I congratulate and compliment SICASA Chairman Rahul Adake and the whole team of SICASA in successfully conducting the Students Conference at Hubli jointly with SICASA Hubli with delegates of over 100 students.
