Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Prayers of Intercession: With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation

Creator God, Architect of the Cosmos and Human Potter, we are in awe of the vast expanse of the galaxies, stars, and planets. We continue to discover the beauty of the Earth, plants, animals, and our own human bodies. We humbly confess that we have not been faithful caretakers of all that you have created. Forgive our excess. Forgive our inattention. And grant us the will and the ability to heal our planet. Behold Our Light

Great Counselor, we humbly pray for all of the great tragedies of our world. For war, political chaos, oppressive rule, human trafficking, refugees camps, political prisoners . . For all the individuals, families, and children caught in cycles of injustice and poverty . . The enormity of the world’s grief is overwhelming. Grant us courage to bear witness to these atrocities, and the power to act. Help us to be agents of change and peace in our world and communities. Behold Our Light

God of the Church, Infuse this Assembly with your Holy Spirit. Breathe a fresh breath of collegiality and grace upon our proceedings, our conversations, and our worship. Bless all of the congregations, camps, agencies, and ministries of the Rocky Mountain Synod. May everyone feel welcome and supported. May these few days be a time of renewal and encouragement. Teach us to be Life for the World. Behold Our Light

Gracious God, You know the desires and aches of our hearts. Grant your comfort and healing to all who are hurting in body, mind, and soul. Hear our prayers as we name our concerns silently or aloud . . Behold Our Light

Installation of Pastor Bre Roberts and New Conference Deans

Presentation

JG: I would like to invite those who are being installed and those who are participating in their installation to please come forward.

Those being installed should be invited to stand in the middle before the Bishop. Those participating can take positions to the sides. Vice-President Earline Bohling also comes forward to represent the calling body. The Bishop addresses the assembly. JG: I ask for the presentation and certification of Pastor Bre Roberts

Vice-President Bohling addresses the presiding minister. EB: After prayerful deliberation,

and upon the recommendation of the Luther House Campus Ministry Board, the Rocky Mountain Synod Council has called Breonna Roberts as Campus Pastor to Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico Community College I present her and this letter certifying the call.

The Vice-President gives the Bishop the letter certifying that the call has been received and accepted.

Address and Questions

The Bishop continues.

JG: Breonna hear again how the scriptures call us to faithful service as pastors of the church.

Members of the campus ministry community read the scripture passages. A reading from John: Jesus said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you. Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (John 20:21-23)

A reading from Matthew: Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Page 8: Behold Our Light · “Chanson” Suite Antique by John Rutter “Siciliana” Sonata in A Minor by George Telemann Communion Instructions/Candles Pascal Candle - Procession

A reading from First Timothy: Set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Attend to the public reading of scripture, to exhorting, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. Put these things into practice, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy 4:12-16)

The Bishop questions the pastor being installed. Breonna, in the presence of this assembly will you commit yourself to this new trust and responsibility, in the confidence that it comes from God through the call of the church?

Response: I will, and I ask God to help me. Will you preach and teach in accordance with the holy scriptures and with the confessions of the Lutheran church? Will you carry out this ministry in harmony with the constitutions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America?

Response: I will, and I ask God to help me.

Will you be diligent in your study of the holy scriptures and in your use of the means of grace? Will you love, serve, and pray for God’s people, nourish them with the word and sacraments, and lead them by your own example in faithful service and holy living?

Response: I will, and I ask God to help me.

Will you give faithful witness in the world, that God’s love may be known in all that you do?

Response: I will, and I ask God to help me.

Almighty God, who has given you the will to do these things, graciously give you the strength and compassion to perform them.

The Vice-President continues: EB: On behalf of the whole church

I also present the following persons who have been selected by their Conferences to serve as Conference Deans:

• Pastor Christine Higueria-Street, Dean of the Utah Conference

People of God, will you receive Pastor Bre and our new Deans as messenger of Jesus Christ sent to serve all people with the gospel of hope and salvation? Will you support them in their respective ministries so that they may proclaim God’s good news on behalf of us all? We will, and we ask God to help us.

Will you pray for them, help and honor them for their work’s sake, and in all things strive to live together in the peace and unity of Christ? We will, and we ask God to help us.

Bre, the office of Campus Pastor to Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico Community College is now committed to you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

And to our new Deans, the thanks and gratitude of this synod is extended.

Peace: The Peace of Christ be with you always And also with you

Offertory - video God of all creation, all you have made is good, and your love endures forever. You bring forth bread from the earth and fruit from the vine. Nourish us with these gifts, that we might be for the world signs of your gracious presence in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen

Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you And also with you Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right to give God our thanks and praise

Preface It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God through our Savior Jesus Christ; who, sharing our life, lived among us to reveal your glory and love, that our darkness should give way to your own brilliant light. And so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the witnesses of the resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angel and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Eucharistic Prayer Blessed are you, O God of the universe. Your mercy is everlasting and your faithfulness endures from age to age.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

O God of resurrection and new life: Reveal yourself to us in the breaking of the bread. Raise us up as the body of Christ for the world. With your holy ones of all times and places, we praise you, O God, blessed and holy Trinity, now and forever. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Invitation: Come and feast on the bread of heaven, for all is now ready.
