Reviewer Eligibility

• Peer review committee members are not eligible to apply for a Fulbright Scholar Program core award the same year they are serving on a review committee

• Regional reviewers should not serve on a discipline review committee in the same competition cycle

• Committee members are eligible to apply for an award one year

after the expiration of their service on the committee

Peer Review Timeline

Application Components

• Application form • Project statement (three to five pages) • Curriculum vita (up to six pages; eight pages for Distinguished Chair

awards) • Letters of reference (three) • Bibliography (up to three pages)

• For research and teaching/research awards • Sample syllabus (syllabi/course outlines)

• For teaching and teaching/research awards • Letter of Invitation (as required by award description) • Language proficiency form (as required by award description) • Supplemental material (if required by discipline/award)

Reviewing Applications

• Review ALL assigned applications • Provide a rating and supporting comments for each

application using the 2016-17 Application Regional Peer Review Guidelines

• Application pool will come from awards in your assigned region • Refer to Catalog of Award descriptions for relevant award

requirements (link provided with each application)

• To ensure a smooth process, please begin early and complete your reviews two days before your regional review committee meeting

Conflict of Interest • Applicant with whom the reviewer has some other significant personal

or professional relationship which could bias his/her judgment of the applicant or the application.

• Professional: wrote a reference for a Fulbright or other related award; member of the same department; co-authors, research collaborators, etc.

• Personal: relative, spouse, partner, etc. • Determine whether there is a conflict of interest. If so, recuse yourself.

Confidentiality

• Reviewers are asked to strictly observe the confidential nature of committee deliberations, decisions, ratings and comments on specific individuals.

• Reviewers should not share the outcome of the

review with anyone.
