Business Profile

BeeDee Bags was founded by Bruce Dicker over thirty-five years ago, and since then has become a leading distributor in shopping bags, supplying over 16,000 individuals and businesses with plastic, paper, degradable, reusable fabric and garment bags. Manufacturing occurs in BeeDee Bags jointly owned Jaimusi factory in China, with goods being imported into Australia for domestic consumption. A key factor in the success of the business was cutting out the middlemen and having goods go directly from the factory to retailers, providing customers a quality product at a low cost.

BeeDee Bags currently employs 43 staff within Australia, and 25 of those are located here in Wagga Wagga. “Wagga definitely has a people advantage” says David Valdes, the National Marketing Manager for BeeDee Bags. “The people we employ combined with the lifestyle are definitely drawcards for owning and operating a business here in Wagga”.

The manufacturing operation was established in China in the mid-nineties as demand increased

along with manufacturing costs. However, providing excellent quality bags at low prices to retailers is one of the main reasons that Bee Dee Bags is still a leader in the retail carry bag industry 35 years on. The manufacturing process is only one side of the coin however. “Providing quality customer service and goods to customers, ensures those customers keep coming back.” says David Valdes.

BeeDee Bags now has plans to open a showroom in Brisbane in the coming year, which will further expand its clientele.
