Just recently I talked with a friend who was lamenting her frustration in being single. She longed for a relationship, longed to meet someone who would share life and love with her. She was thinking she should move to the other side of the country to find him...feeling that she had exhausted all the supply of men in her surroundings.

I asked her if she had made space for a new man in her life.

She raised her eyebrows and questioned the meaning of what I asked.

I suggested that she stop parking in the middle of her two car garage, to make a space for his car. And, that she not sleep in the middle of her bed, but sleep on one side to make room for him? That she clear out room in her closet for his clothes. That her bathroom shelves have space for his shaving gel and razor.

Create a space for him.

Her eyes lit up and she got it – understood how she should BE the person who has a man in her life and DO something to make room for him.

She made a beeline to me yesterday at our Sunday blues and bbq event at the river to tell me... that she did all those things I suggested and now men and opportunities for relationships are pouring into her life. She was giddy...and so was I!
