Vitamin B-complex with Vitamin C

Becosules is a multivitamin formulation designed for vitamin supplementation and intended for oral use. It provides adequate amounts of several B-complex vitamins (including vitamin B12 and folic acid) in addition to vitamin C.

Niacinamide USP 100 mg

Clacium Pantothenate USP 25 mg

Folic Acid USP 1 mg

Actions

Vitamins are essential for the maintenance of normal metabolic functions. The water soluble vitamins of the B-complex group play a part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, alcohol and branched chain amino acids: d vital role in cellular oxidation and in the synthesis of DNA and the fatty acids in myelin . Ascorbic acid is necessary for collagen formation, tissue repair in the body and may be involved in some oxidation-reduction reaction. It is also involved in the utilisation of carbohydrates, synthesis of lipids and proteins and the preservation of blood vessel integrity. Folic acid is necessary for normal erythropoiesis and nucleoprotein synthesis.

Indications

Becosules- is indicated for supportive nutritional supplementation in conditions in which the B complex vitamins and vitamin C are required prophylactically and therapeutically. Vitamin deficiencies may be associated with restricted diets, improper food intake, decreased absorption and prolonged stress, infections or chronic fevers, following burns and trauma. Vitamin supplements may be necessary for those on unusual diets, on reducing diets with drastically reduced food selection and also for those with inadequate diets, such as alcoholics, the elderly, those with diabetes mellitus, hepatobiliary tract disease, those recovering from surgery and in convalescence.

Contraindications

Becosules is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any of the constituents.

Adverse Effects

Water soluble vitamins, seldom cause toxicity in persons with normal renal function.

Precautions

No problems have been documented in pregnant and nursing mothers with the intake of the recommended daily requirements, however studies have not been made on humans and animals.

Drug Interactions

Pyridoxine may interact with levodopa in an antagonistic manner but such antagonism does not occur if a carbidopa /levodopa combination is given.
