Becky, Wu Chi Chao earned a Bachelor’s degree in foreign languages and literature from National Cheng Kung University and a Master’s degree in TESOL from National Kaohsiung First University of Science and

Technology. She has been an English teacher at San Sin High School since 1985.

She now works as the English Assistant to the school’s Principal, and she has been instrumental in the establishment of sister-school relationships or signed educational exchange agreements with many schools in foreign countries, including America, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, and England.

Her philosophy of education is reflected in her continued efforts to lead her students to know and experience the world. She enjoys seeing her students gain a broad international perspective through San Sin High School’s exchange programs with students from other countries.

• The first international exchange program began in 1977 with Meiwa High School in Japan.

• Subsequent signing of sister-school agreements and exchanges.

Purpose of the Program• Computer technology facilitates the communication

among people around the world.• But, it can not replace face to face contact and

the extrinsic value of teacher’s physical presence.

Description of the Program• The goal : to help Taiwanese and American students

become partners in learning about the language and culture of the two countries.

• Allow an exchange between students from America and Taiwan, while immersing the Taiwanese in use of English for everyday interaction.

• Help American students experience the rich history and beauty of the Taiwanese culture.
