ON SITE VISITS

Parents/Carers who wish to enter the school during school time need to let admin know that you are on site. For

various reasons we need to verify who is walking around the school. If we are not sure who you are, we will

proceed with a check on our system, this protects our students – who we have a

duty of care to and in the event of a lock down or fire then we need to know who is

onsite.

If you wish to bring a cake for your child to celebrate their birthday, please check

with your teacher first and arrange a suitable time for delivery. As we have many

students with food allergies please check with the class teacher if what you are

bringing does not conflict with their allergies. Please also provide napkins, candles

and plates as we have limited resources on site.

RING PULLS

Well done to Chelsea, Lara, Hailey and Kieran, for they amazing

effort and a bucket load of ring pulls. Thanks to the entire school

community for your contributions of ring pulls. We funded 7 wheel

chairs last year. Can we please do it again? Every ring pull

counts. You can drop them off before or after school in Room 6

and collect your Bestie.

SCHOOL BANKING

Calling for volunteers – we need your help!

Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.

The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.

Currently, School Banking day is Wednesday.

If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please fill in the tear off section below and return it to the red box outside of Admin or visit Esme on Wednesday’s at school banking.

Yes, I would like to help with School Banking!

SOLAR CHALLENGE

The years 6’s from Rooms 12 and 13 had a great afternoon on Tuesday racing their solar cars. We had to use our battery packs due to the intermittent cloud cover. Congratulations to Team Lightening Strike Noah, Tony Aaron and Latrell who will represent Beckenham Primary next Thursday 22nd March in the Synergy Schools Solar Challenge at Rossmoyne High School. Thank you to Mr Gillett for being our starter and umpire. A big thank you to Sean Hunt for giving up your day to help us rejig our cars after the past weeks of investigating how to make our cars go faster. Thank you Sean for showing us how to put on our battery packs and being our finish judge. Thank you to those parents who came down to watch. Yvonne Hunt Science Teacher

YOUNG LEADERS DAY

Our Head Boy, Aswin and Head Girl Lana, together with ten student councillors from Years 4-6, attended Young

Leaders Day at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 9.

Our students were inspired by a number of speakers who shared their stories of courage, perseverance, belief

in self and the importance of inclusivity.

Cathy Hearman SRC Coordinator John Coutis inspired me to believe that I know what is right and what is wrong. It is my choice. It is important to let your family know how much you love them. Diana

YOUNG LEADERS DAY

My favourite speaker was Rick Ardon because he reminded me to always listen to your teachers and treat everyone how you want to be treated. He also said that if you make a mistake, admit to it, apologise and learn from it. Brayden What I liked best about Young Leaders Day was the silent disco because you could listen to the songs and dance. I liked all the speakers because they told me how to be a leader and gave me ideas for what we can do at our school. Isla-Rose

I learnt to be always conscious of other people’s feelings and to be inclusive. Never give up and always dream big dreams. Meena

The most exciting thing about Young Leaders Day was listening to famous people tell young leaders like myself how we can make changes to make the world a better place. I think we can decrease the amount of pollution that goes into the atmosphere by recycling things we don’t need. Aswin The student councillors would like to say thank you to Mrs Ostermeyer for giving up her time to assist and share

Young Leaders Day with us.

CAMPION DONATION

A big thank you to Campion Education for their kind donation of stationary items for our students in need.

HELPING HANDS BECKENHAM NEWS UPDATE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The children remained engaged to a great extent in a variety of activities planned throughout this fortnight. There were some events organized to involve community in our program and celebrated some special festivals from different cultures. Here is the summary of it all.

Holi Festival: Holi (colour) festival was celebrated on 2nd March at our service with children. We did face painting and children got to choose their own designs and colour combinations. The children and staff had so much fun playing with colours.

RSPCA Incursion: on 13th March, we had a few visitors visiting us from RSPCA. The representatives Janet and Katrina brought a little friend called Hamish. It was a puppy and the children had a good time patting him. The children also watched a puppet show presented by both of the guests to teach us the things good and bad for our pets and how we can look after them in best possible way. All the children participated in this informative incursion quite actively. Spontaneous and structured activities which took place during this fortnight were old granny drama presented by some of the children, beading, loom bands, musical painting, gymnastics, group games, finding Wally and many more.

Harmony Day: we will be celebrating Harmony Day tomorrow at our service with families.

SOME OF OUR FUN MOMENTS...
