    Dear Student,

    As per the current pattern of assignments, you will have to do one assignment for this elective course BECE-214. Please note that this is a major revised course of its earlier version EEC 14 being offered to the new registrants of Group 4 electives from July 2013 onwards.

    The assignment is of 100 marks which contains 3 sections. Section I contains two questions of 20 marks each; Section II contains four questions of 12 marks each; and Section III contains two questions of 6 marks each.

    Answer all the questions

    A. Long Answer Questions (word limit-500 words) 2 x 20 = 40 marks

    1) Explain the major efforts made through the plans to rectify the disturbing agrarian structure inherited at the time of independence of India.

    2) Discuss the salient features of New Foreign Trade Policy: 2009-14. What adverse impacts could be generally expected on account of a foreign trade policy and what mechanisms are needed to be developed to cope with these?

    B. Medium Answer Questions (word limit-250 words) 4 x 12= 48 marks

    1) Bring out the major thrust of the Constitution Amendment Act, 1992 with a focus on its impact on Indian agricultural development.

    2) Explain in what way agricultural exports can contribute to achieving inclusive growth?

    3) Explain the major differences between the Genetically Modified and the HYV technology methods of crop development?

    4) Bring out the impact of agricultural price rise on the economy in general.
