HIPROTEC is a gel consisting of polysilazane and diamond particles.The gel is applied to the smartphone display and a chemical-mechanical process opens the glasssurface. Subsequently, the gel penetrates the diamonds into the glass structure and hardens. Thediamond particles remain forever in the glass structure and ensure the increased hardness of thesmartphone display.

The HIPROTEC liquid is a mixture of a so-called polysilazane and nano-diamond particles.For the application of this mixture, the glass surface is first cleaned, and simultaneously treated with a weak organic acid. Due to thismild acid treatment, activation of the Si-O-Si bond on the glass surface leads to an Si-OH group.The polysilazane is a precondensate of a hydrophobically modified silane, i. it contains water-repellent alkyl groups Si-CnH2n+1.The polysilazane is hydrolyzed by atmospheric moisture, resulting in the meantime (H2n+1C)m-Si-(O-CnH2n+1)4-m. This hydrolyzedsilazane can bind to the activated Si-OH groups under condensation. This process is also called the sol-gel process.The sol-gel process runs at different speeds depending on the humidity and temperature, i. the final state or the final hardness of themodified / silanized glass surface only develops after approx. 2-72 hours.The nano-diamond particles contained in the polysilazane mixture are incorporated into the structure of the modified glass surfaceduring the application and the curing time.The result is a composite / composite of hardened / condensed liquid glass and diamond, which has properties of both compositepartners. The treated product therefore has higher hardness and abrasion resistance.Because the attachment of the polysilazane to the glass surface takes place by means of true covalent bonding, modification withthe polysilazane is permanent and can not be removed by washing or cleaning.
